For those who don't know what Gijinka is...

Gijinka (擬人化) is a Japanese word meaning "humanoid", "personification", or "anthropomorphic", although the use of the word outside of Japan has come to be slightly different from the use of the word "anthropomorphic" in the anime/manga/furry/etc communities. Rather than referring to just any animal with human characteristics, a gijinka is most often a fan re-design of an animal-like character from an animation or graphic novel in a human or humanoid form, (ex: a Digimon or Pokémon) or of a humanoid version of the artist's own original animal-like character.

This gathering is an out of con photoshoot for people who are doing Pokemon Gijinka cosplay.
Please only sign up for this if you are cosplaying from Pokemon (trainer or gijinka) or want to take pictures. This is the first meetup I have planned and I want to keep the craziness down. Sorry about that.
After the photo taking anyone who wants can stay for a picnic in the park. Food will not be provided so you would have to bring your own lunch but I will try to provide blankets for sitting as such.

Location: Washington Park (The big park by the Oregon Zoo) in the Hoyt Aboretum
I'm not sure how parking is going to be since it will be a Saturday near the zoo, so my suggestion to everyone is (if you can) is to park your car near a Max stop and ride the Max there. From the Max you can go up some elevators, start heading towards the Children's museum and head up the street that goes into Washington Park. Maybe twenty steps away there is a sign that looks like this:

Head up the stairs directly by the signs and you will find yourself at this stone area that goes right into a well kept park area. The area is beautiful in my opinion and has lots of shady areas for people who get too hot. My camera died before I could get many pictures but just to give you guys a taste, here are some links.

A WORD OF WARNING: Though the park is a public area, where we are meeting is a Veterans Memorial, we can have as much fun as we want in the park, but directly ahead of the stone area we are meeting there is a Garden of Solace. Please do not go in there in your costumes or to take pictures. I'm not sure of the rules for that part of the park, but the garden is in memory of people who died in war. I don't think they'd appreciate us throwing ourselves around in there while dressed in costume.

So August sounds good with everyone, what weekend would work best for you guys?
Also my friends and I were talking today and we thought it might be fun if some people dressed as Pokemon trainers or Gym Leaders and came to the meetup as well.

Ergh, at the end of August would be bad for me since it would be cutting close to Kumoricon. I can also only do weekends due to school and I have some people driving up from out of town to go to the gathering so only weekends for them as well. Do you think you could make the gathering if it was earlier in August Kameko? Actually the 4th, 11th, and 18th would work best for me but I can try to work things out so it could work better for other people as well.

What ever you feel like doing Nyahaha you should do. My boyfriend made a joke about dressing up as Prof. Oak when I told him I was doing Pokemon cosplay. I want to see if he was serious or not...he'd be there anyways as a photographer.

Bumping and double posting for me being stupid. I must have been looking at the wrong month because the 18th of August is a Tuesday. So date planning again! I'm looking at the calender right now and if we do it in August I'm thinking the 22nd or 15th would be best. Which date would be better for everyone?

@Pien- You are welcome to come as long as you have a means of transportation and are going to be in a Pokemon cosplay or want to take photos. So you are welcome to come.

And is it ok if we plan for the 22nd then since that seems to be majority (ITT: 2 to 1 votes

) if not more people need to give me some input. I'd like to get a date finalized within the next two weeks.

I decided that it would probably be a bad idea to be goldeen, because then I'd have to be in water, and hurt my costume... that would suck.
Plus I don't have enough time to make it.

@BJG- I'm not completely sure yet. I remember I nice place last time I hiked there, it was on the way to the archery range and has the woods right next to it and a pretty tree in like a nice stretch of land. I can't explain it. I'll get exact areas figured out by July 13th.

I'm going, along with Hazuza (maybe).

If we go, I would most likely go as Eevee, an Hazuza would most likely go as Charmeleon.

EDIT: My sister may come along too, so if she does, I might not be Eevee. She wants to try pulling off a duo one (like plusle and minun or gastrodon west and gastrodon east or something along those lines).
