Aw. -pats- I know a place, but it's very expensive. I've seen the've gotten really good reveiws, but you have to ship straight from Japan so shippings about 40 bucks. >__> All the stuff is about 150-250 bucks, but it looks good. They do Gothic Lolita, EGL stuff though.

I went on the cosplay.com forums and searched for custom cosplay makers and sent out a big form letter detailing what i wanted. i got alot of replies and was able to narrow it down. also google search works well too :D

i've heard some bad things about customcosplay.com lately, and she never emailed me either so *shrug*

i'm using limebarb.com right now for my seras victoria. they have the best costumes i've ever seen for themselves, so hopefully they'll do at least half as well for me ;D

I can't guarantee she'll be up to doing a commissioned work at the moment, but you might want to contact Sailor Naboo. She's done some good work in the past, and I think she's been taken commissions. :)

Here's her site: http://www.sailornaboo.com/

She's here on the boards, but she's not always good about checking her PMs. If she doesn't get back to you, let me know and I'll poke her for you. ;)

Thanks Steve!  But NO Commissions.  Too much stress.

To make up for the amount of time it really takes and the worry that I'm going to live up to the standards of what the person really wants, I'd have to take the cost of material (and I would insist on using good stuff) times at least 10 for the final costume cost.  In other words, very few costumes would be less than about $1000.  That's what my time in thinking, planning, shopping around, designing, really making sure the customer gave me the right measurements (no holding in the tummy for vanity!), researching additional views of the costume, in some cases, making some parts out of very cheep material to check to see if it flows and hangs correctly.  All that before I've even taken a cutting wheel to the actual fabric.  And then once it's done and triple checked that there isn't the slightest pucker in any seam (all seams finished inside of course), waiting while the costume is in the mail and the stress of wondering if it will live up to expectations.  And then sometimes the person doesn't even get back to you for a week after you know the costume arrived. AG-GO-KNEE! (as Bugs Bunny would say).

Geez Naboo... You make it sound like you make costumes fit for a God. O_o; I had hoped that you'd be recovered from current stress in the next two or three months, and might be able to take on just one commission. If it's that stressful for you, though, then I understand why you're hesitant.

Well, I do have one other person I could recommend -- Brownie -- but she's majorly involved in con ops and is generally very stressed.  Usually when a friend goes to her for help with a costume, she'd rather help them make it than make it herself.

I agree with you about Brownie.  She's a good choice for Eugene/Springfield area people.

My costumes are very much above average, but the only reason that they are is because they are very planned out and "I have a seam ripper and I'm  not afraid the use it!"  At Sakura, you saw me wearing the summer PE shirt (and part of the practice cheerleader uniform) from CardCaptor Sakura.  Pictures are available in the closing ceremonies section on Obsessed with Anime.  It doesn't look like that much detail, but look at the red stripes on the collar.  The are placed by hand because after several years of looking, I couldn't find shirts with the right collar. Then there is the Tomoeda embroidery and the white wing logo embroidery on both sleeves.  People who were even just 1 foot away from me couldn't tell those red stripes were placed by hand and not part of the shirt.  It's simple, but it's impossible to tell that I had to take both sleeves apart to fit it over the embroidery machine and then redo them with the surger.  The inside sleeve seems are better finished than the shirt was before I took parts of it apart (long chains of surged strings left handing and so on...).

I would take commissions for those shirts (very reasonably priced even-- aprox. $30), but other than that, it's just not worth the stress, unless the price was in the range I mentioned earlier.  If someone really wants me, that's what I'd charge to make it worth it.
