Final Fantasy 7 Group.
« on: February 11, 2009, 11:51:20 am »
I'm thinking about trying to get a Final Fantasy 7 group together. So far I am thinking AC.

I was planing on going as Cloud and I should have a friend that would go as Vincent and I was hoping someone *cough*Rodney*cough* would go as Barret again ::)

We may also have a Cid. But if anyone else is planing on going as FFVII cast let me know

Cloud: Nikkiolie
Barret: Eve
Aerith: Kahlan4
Tifa: Black~Rose, Ryanne_Monday, Evil-Bunny-of-Doom
Yuffie: Dana, LtCommanderRichie (?)
Red XIII: AriaxKitsune
Genesis: Fudgie MD
Reno: Syd (FFVII)

Well, if this group lasts until Kumoricon, you can count me in.

Where were you for the past couple years? lol

We could have used a dedicated AC group last year.

But anyway, I am totally in if you want to do it for Kumoricon. I'll be Barret as usual.

Nichole, I think you would actually make a pretty good Tifa. You probably don't want to because it is a common character to cosplay, lots of people do it, but I think you actually have the face for it.

But if you really have your heart set on Cloud, there is another one I think you would be absolutely perfect for: Crossdressing Cloud! Remember the scene in FFVII where Cloud has to dress like a girl to sneak into Don Corneo's Mansion? You should do that version of Cloud! I've only ever seen one person do it and it was pretty good, but I think you could pull it off and be really amazing with it.

Either way, can't wait to get a group going with you. ^_^

i wanna cosplay from 7, just not sure who... i did lucrecia from dirge last k-con, but i wanna do someone more recognizable, but it's hard when the characters i'd go as are also cosplayed by a ton of other people >.< i think it would be fun to cosplay as aeris, there are just always sooo many cosplayers doing her...

My only surviving FFVII costume at the moment is my Yuffie one, and that's the outfit from the first game. I'll have Angeal done eventually, but that's Crisis Core. I suppose I could grab a black wig and do a Zack with you guys!

I thought about Tifa and I also though about girl cloud. I was also thinking that Crisis Core Cloud was a little thinner....Maybe I'll just go with cross dressing Cloud >_>

It's the Final Fantasy Advent Children Costume. It's pretty decent. I have a wig that I started styling for it, too. But I think you'd make a good cross dressing Cloud. X3

that's fine with me. It would save me quite a bit of money

If I go as Crisis Core Cloud I wouldn't have to worry about muscle too much. Most of his body is covered up, all I would need is to buff up my arms a little and that wouldn't be too hard ;D

Yeah Cloud's muscley. So the more you can hide the better. Since girls can't really get that toned arm look like guys can, unless of course.. they're REALLY built. Or flex all of the time. x.x

But yeah I'll take some picture tomorrow!

Even in VII Cloud isn't really that big. Well, he did have the "Popeye arms", didn't he? lol I guess it's in the forearms.

But anyway, I am glad to hear you would want to do Wall Market Cloud. That'll be awesome. We can find a roly-poly guy with a blonde mohawk to hit on you, lol.

I can absolutely not love it, lol. And here's how: because there's nothing in the series to suggest any relationship of that magnitude.

But then again, I just hate seeing characters I like so much thrown into fan/fetish-made scenarios, heh.

Probably not this year, but one of these days my group was thinking about going as FF7 again and remaking our turk cosplays. I'd much rather do someone different like Cait Sith though because everyone does Reno now. ::)
Plus, I want to try new things (and Cait Sith is my real favorite).

I think it would be pretty epic if Genesis broke out into Gackt songs - with a dance routine and backup dancers, and, and... Wouldn't that just be perfect? xDDD

If my hair was shorter (either his length, or short enough to fit under a short wig), I would TOTALLY do it - since I know too many Gackt songs. I think that Genesis singing Arittake no ai de would be awesome, since it's such a cute, happy song. xDD

After CC came out, people kept IMing me and saying "PLAYED FFCC YET? COSPLAY MY GENESIS PLEASE." My hair definitely resembles his, that's for sure. My facial features kind of do, too, I suppose. But Genesis would be a b*tch of a Cosplay, considering I'm not a sewer.

I know, right? Plus, I can remember how competitive the other Reno cosplayers got back in '06. It was so lame. They'd be all, "Well, I smoke for REAL so I'm a better Reno" or "I'm going to break your weapon because only I can be Reno."
So annoying =__= (and yes, those aren't made up examples...)
I just went as Reno because it wasn't my choice for the group decision that year.
Now that they want to come back to FF7, I've decided I'm going with Cait Sith. We'll see what goes down. Since one of them is going to Japan, it's almost a free-for-all kind of thing this year. Decisions, decisions >,<

Yeah, it's pretty lame that some people acted like that in groups and with cosplaying. That's the negative impression I usually get from Turk cosplay groups, they all have been pretty domineering and rude (not every person in the groups, of course, I'm not singling people out, I just mean the groups as a conglomerate presence).

But anyway, good luck with your Cait Sith cosplay! If you need any help with props or something, just let me know.

We can get photos of Barret and Cait Sith fighting Bahamut-Shin, lol.

god I keep going back and forth over which version of Cloud to do >_>

There never is too many CC clouds, but AC cloud is more recognizable and I could be part of a group that way >_>

any thoughts?

alright scratch that. To save money I am going to go as Advent Children Cloud. So Marie I wouldn't mind trying your costume on to make sure it fits properly, if it is too long I can always alter it a little. But how much would you want for the wig and costume?

that is fine with me. I have to work Friday from 5-9 and Sunday I don't work at all so either can work. If we hang out Sunday Devin might be able to come along >_>

Devin says she should be able to on Sunday ;D and she says HI!

I've always wanted to do a Vincent cosplay..but it is super over done so I think if I ever cosplayed from FF7 it would be one of the Shinra soldiers. These guys: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Trumby/shinra.jpg

That'd be awesome! I'd love to see a Shinra soldier! It'd make for such great photoshoot scenarios, haha. Barret vs. Shinra!

Oh, and this brings up one thing I have thought of that I really would like to do someday. I want to get an Avalanche Cosplay Group. I, of course, would be Barret, but I think it'd be super epic if we could actually get all the members of Avalanche from VII (not including the additional ones from other games). Biggs, Wedge, Jess, Tifa, Cloud, Barret. It would bring an ear-to-ear grin on this Barret's face, haha.

I can understand that. That will be my plan probably after this year. I won't be able to do Azul again next year because we will still be in this hotel with narrow passageways (And the cannon won't fit), so I may just stick with the costumes I have as of Kumoricon 2009

That'd be awesome, and you could totally pull it off too. That's a character made for you, and looks like you'd actually be able to be pretty comfy, too, heh.

Yeah, I definitely want to get an Avalanche group going now. I'm not sure if I would want to do original VII version Barret, or do my AC Barret again, though, if we do get an Avalanche group together.

Yeah, I've decided the Avalanche thing I am going to put off until 2010, because I won't have time to work on it this year. I'm going to just do simple AC Barret for Kumoricon this year, but next year I am going to do original Barret, because that is how he was when in Avalanche, and it wouldn't make much sense to have an AC Barret with his original '97 crew.

So yeah, AC Barret is in with y'all for this year.

I say go with it, and really, I don't think most people are as conscientious about other people's cosplays as you are. In fact, I'm sure nobody cares as much as you do that someone else is cosplaying the same character. You're too courteous, Kahlan! lol

yay for photo shoots ^.^ now there's the matter of do we do a specific one for ffvii separate from the regular ff shoot, or do it with the regular one... since both eve and i will have two ff related costumes, might be hard for us to choose between them which to wear to the shoot >.> but that also can wait till later, lol. i'm just excited to know there will actually be more ff cosplayers this year based on this thread >.O

So, just to unite things, this Final Fantasy cosplay group will be meeting at the Final Fantasy Photo shoot which will also be featuring the Final Fantasy Mock-Battle, yes? So much going on, lol

I might have to put off doing KOS-MOS next year because of the extent I want to do that cosplay, so next year I was going to be Jenova if I couldn't get KOS-MOS done in time... T.T I would have done it this year, but I want to do wedding Yuna more.

That's like me with Garnet. The first decent cosplay I've everm ade. XD By the way,,, it still needs to be fixed... and cleaned.... and the zipper needs to be fixed.... and *goes of on a tangent* ANYWAY...

It was either going to be Jenova in the tube (World's biggest wig, XD) or without... which is better?

Hm... Lucretia would be a good cosplay, too. MISCELLANEOUS FF FEMALES UNITE!

But yes, this is game Yuffie:

Oh, then that's good. xD

And uh.
I can't exactly tell if Yuffie's AC jacket is black/grey/forest green. ~_~
It looks green somewhat, but if you look closer, it just looks like a normal black O_o;

i think it's really dark grey, like almost black. the figure i have looks like that too, and the figures are always really close, if not exactly like the game/movie

OH! I almost forgot. My cosplay partner will be Cait Sith, so there's another to add into the FF mix!

We are definitely planning to have a FF Photo Shoot, not sure when yet, though.

Also, we will be doing a FF Mock Battle at some point during Kumoricon, also, so you should come to that too!

so eve and i were thinking it would be great if everyone did their regular weapons, and also brought along the joke weapons ^.^ we thought it'd be easy and fun, so here's a list of everyone's:

cloud- nail bat
tifa- work gloves (gardening gloves would work)
aeris- umbrella
barret- rocket punch (looks like boxing glove)
yuffie- super ball (like a super bouncy ball)
cid- mop
vincent- silver rifle (looks like small green squirt gun)
red xiii- hairpin
cait sith- trumpet shell (hard to tell, looks kind of like a brown bottle)

it would make for a few fun/funny photos if anyone is interested >.O

The Pinwheel is not a pinwheel by modern standards, it's not the toy that spins in the wind, lol. It's like a massive shuriken. So, no, I wouldn't consider that a joke weapon.  ;D

it would be funny to have tifa with big, bulky boxing gloves XD I have some karate glove thingy's that could work.

but that would be too simalar to barrets hmmm. All the other joke weapons I can think of are slightly in-the-gutter kind of humor.

Beer bottle? Fan-boys-be-gone mace? XD

for aerith I think it would be funny to have a huge flower as a weapon XD Like that thing in super smash bros, but thats just an idea lol

well the point of the joke weapons was that they didn't have any materia slots or very good stats, so they were just kind of funny. not that it was easy to see what they all were, i mean the most visible ones were cloud's and aeris' because of the quality of games at the time, but that was the same with all the other weapons that weren't jokes. anyway, it was just an idea, but if we did joke weapons, i think it would be best to do the ones from the game, otherwise it wouldn't really make sense, but maybe that's just me o.O

work gloves for tifa could work really well if you got those really girly frilly gardening gloves or something.

lol, can't be obvious enough sometimes. IT seemed like there was a misunderstanding of the concept of "Joke Weapons.

Simply put, every character in FFVII had one weapon that was good for nothing, and they (for the most part) looked like a big joke. This is what we were talking about. Kahlan wasn't making up the idea, she was referencing these Joke Weapons from the game. So, suggesting something else for the position of "Joke Weapon", as mentioned, just wouldn't make much sense within the concept when you understand that these are already weapons in the game.

Anyway, I think it would just be a fun thing to do. The Joke Weapons are all very simple and fun, they are made for not being difficult. I'll definitely be doing Barret's Rocket Punch, and if anyone else does, that will be fun, but whatever, lol. Planning things gets unnecessarily complicated too often here.

I'm not really worried about the costume much other than the shoes and the red ribbon actually staying on my arm >>;

*pumped pose* Crunches on a ball and push-ups here I come! And DDR for legs ? XD; I dunno. I need tips on how to get my arms into shape anyway. They've gotten weak since coming to college a few months ago.

I think the only thing that's deterred me from being Tifa all these years is a huge birthmark on the front of my calf that people think's a stupid bruise >>; It's not purple, geeze. It's just, a good 4''x2'' big.....

I have zero will power, but lucky for me we never have any good food to eat, and I don't have the money for snacks. So usually I starve until dinner. XD I made the habit of eating a bowl of rice with water after I get off school since I'm so hungry because I don't eat lunch... which I guess is a good thing.

I should probably be eating more myself... I'm more or less out of the pasta thing right now, and I have no pizzas or cereals left T-T I might have to give in and start going to the cafeteria for food more often in the next few weeks. But all I eat from there is some kind of pasta or roll and pizza and a swig of soda -_- Their soda doesn't taste too sharp...
When I get home though I can start walking to the beach and junk, and I can probably bug one of my friends if they have weights.

Sides Inc, you're thin enough. You just need a cardeo-vascular workout and food in you.

I just finished making my shuriken for my Yuffie (DoC) cosplay. I'm so proud of myself! Next, I'll have to work on my other props and sew on some secret pockets into my costumes...

What about everyone else?

I ordered Tifa's costume the other day. *thinks*
Oh yeah, I need to either find somewhat good shoes for her, or attack my leather sneakers that don't quite look right with white paint or something x_x Painting leather.. ha... I'll have to see if I can find some good shoes on amazon or something, cause the Tifa shoes for sale on eBay are like 60$ @.@
And cut my hair. Which'll be annoying cause I can't see behind my head to do it right on the sides >> So I might just put that off for a few months and do it in August.

I want to see about doing original FF7 Tifa, with the cowboy (I just had a retard moment with that word. XD) and everything, but I don't know if I'll have the time for k con this year...We'll have to see once I get an income source. =/

I think that Tifa is Crisis Core version. I mean there is a glimps of her in that outfit during FFVII but it was from a flashback that takes place during CC.

Nikki, your pic to CC Tifa keeps going to Creative Uncut's main page. I guess they dislike direct linking... >>;

*chuckling* I found a way to get my keyblade on my back... I won't have to carry the thing at the con XD It's just that means I wouldn't be able to really pose with it without spending 5 min to untie it >>;

I wouldn't go to any instead of the photo shoot, but at the same time I'd prefer not to have to compromise. There aren't any yearly events I plan to attend, like the Cosplay Contest or AMV or anything like that. I just like to partake in panels and things, but of course whenever the Shoot ends up getting scheduled, I'll go to it, there's no doubt about that. I just like to know my options first. And since the schedule has always been posted weeks in advance, even tentatively, I figure there's no need to commit to a certain day and time so early on. That's what I was thinking anyway.

I'm actually somewhat committed to events.

Ranger panel, maybe if we can have it the Risemball game, cosplay contest, maybe opening ceremonies and we're going to try to go to the masqurade. @.@ But other than that, I'm pretty free. I can probably ditch my two friends to go to a photoshoot that they don't want to go to xD (Oh and supposedly they're going to an autograph session of someone..) Oh and if the Rangers have more than one/two meetings, I'll have to attend them for at least a bit cause I'm a main organizer of them X_x;
Which we haven't even gotten the times yet... so this'll be fuuuun /sarcasm

BTW - my friend wants to cosplay Turk perhaps, and when she was sifting through pics she found a long blond female Turk and wants to know her name. It's not Elena from the AC movie, it's someone else x.X

The time is not set in stone, it can always be changed. I was just trying to get one of the bigger shoots scheduled so some people will have some say in the minor ones scheduling around them. For example, lets take Nikki, she is going to be cosplaying the white mage and a pokemon. And they have been talking about having that shoot the same day. Now that she knows that the FF will be early afternoon she can either try to convince the others to have the pokemon shoot in the morning or in the evening. See how that works?

I am just trying to be a little organized but it really doesn't seem to be appreciated. So maybe I stop and let everyone else figure things out. To me anyways the whole day will be a photo shoot so I don't really care what everyone else does.

Basically my point is there's little need in forcing organization. I understand shoots are your main reason for attending, and I don't plan to miss the FF shoot either, but I am just saying how in past years nobody has really even tried to make a shoot schedule until there is at least a tentative schedule provided. Since there are many people who enjoy shoots in addition to events interested in the FF shoot, it just seems like it would be better to wait until there is a tentative schedule provided.

But this is your thing, I know you like running events and planning things, so I'll certainly attend whenever it ends up being. I was just explaining my reasoning.

Basically, I don't see why everyone is trying to schedule shoots this early anyway. But whatev, lol

I agree with both of you... Forcing organization early when a good portion of people are concerned about the rest of the events, too. I guess it makes sense to try and organize the big shoots first so the other shoots can plan as well. It's just when big shoots collide with the main events (ia sakuracon) it's upsetting for people to have to decide between two things they really want to go to *shrug* Least that's my take on it, (and even I think my opinion's trash).

*nod* This is true.

>>; So in the middle of packing my costumes, I noticed that I had two tanks for Tifa's white shirt >>; One fits tightly- like almost a compression shirt and the other one's looser, but longer @.@ I'm gonna have to try them both on once I get home and see which one I like better. The tighter one looks more accurate in terms of texture, but ehhh I dunno if it'd even matter come con-time. That, and I really need to practice walking with her shorts on, since I forshadow myself falling on my face from the skirt xD; "Hey it's Tifa!" *WACK!* "oO; Not a very graceful Tifa..."

Yeah I am, I'll probably end up spending some of it on Cosplay, too. But most of it's going into savings.

Well I've got a plan. :3

See, my Tifa and I have been looking at this house in downtown area Portland that we know we'll be able to afford as soon as we find some people who want to move in with us so the rent will be small enough for everybody.

If we manage to get it, you can store stuff there. :3 (and we really hope we can get it... XD it's perfect)

That'd be cool Inc ^^ I hope you get that house~

Well, right now it's just up in the air. I don't have a dedication to either really. But it'll depend a lot I think on my hair. It'll be weird to see a Summoner Yuna with hair past her middle back, eh? ^^; I don't think I could swing that and look as "accurate" as I'd like... I dunno @.@ I'll ponder it for a few more weeks lol

That looks awsome Nikki~ How big is it, what's it made out of, and how heavy is it? XD; *goes all fan*

Inc: It's AC Tifa and neither one needs a wig, but I'm not gonna trim my hair up for Yuna cause I'm trying to grow it long again. *I just can't decide how I want my hair these days, but not short xD* I could probably stuff one in a bag, since I won't have a prop. Maybe a Chocobo plushie- but that'll go with both of the costumes anyway.

Buy a cheap sheet or thin cotton curtain, wrap it around and hold it with some form of tape so it doesn't touch the blade, and lean it horizontally against the floor? My keyblades never seem to get dusty or fall, so they just lean against a wall in my room.

I don't actually think it is for materia. Here is a picture of all the swords http://www.robheller.com/images/blog/cloud_sword.jpg One of them has a lot of holes but they aren't round. And if you notice in the movie the only people who use materia are the bad guys. Cloud has kept them locked away and hidden from everyone else.

Great diagram, Nichole. I agree, I'm pretty sure materia doesn't get used in (at least) the Buster Sword 2.0, if not in a lot of other weapons also.

I imagine if any characters used materia, they would absorb it like Kadaj did. Kadaj had a weapon, but he put it in his arm instead. Would that be a materia-slotted armor then? I don't think so, but, I'm no expert.

He did put it in his arm .... I'm guessing in terms of details of the game, it'd be slotted armor or the wrist/accessories the game also had.. It had 2 armor-types and one weapon if I recall... x_x

Hmmm confusing , yet it makes sense.

I was bored after all the fireworks keeping me up, so I took a random image of my Reno costume. I bought the wig randomly a bit ago, and go figure xD I've got all the stuff for his costume in my closet hehe Yay for zipper-closing black leather jacket~
Sorry it's so tiny, I figured re-sizing it would be good.

I'll get a picture of Tifa later outside XD Maybe one of my friends'll wear my Reno or something to the con. I dunno.

I got bored today and was like "meh take pics of Tifa!" XD I didn't feel like fighting with the ribbon to get it on, and I was too lazy to put on the lip gloss XD But I did get 2 okay-ish pics.

x_x; My hair at the top's now too light for Tifa aargh~ I wonder if I can find a dark brown dye thing so I can dye my hair just before the con....

Oh yeaaah I also got these shoes from Ross recently. They have a lot of white on them, but I'm not sure how much I wanna cover them with black (black fabric marker).... What do you all think?

If you wanted to call your cosplay "Midgar Incident Tifa" or something...like she got roughed up in the heart of Midgar...that could explain the shoes, heh. I mean really, if there is nothing you can do about it, don't stress over it. The costume looks good overall, and nobody will get on your case about the shoes. People are accepting in person, heh

Bo problem (I'm in the group too, so I don't mind). There hasn't been a place chosen yet, as far as I know. We'll probably pick a location at the Pre-Con meeting, because we'll be scouting the area's parks and locations.

So many questions! But I agree with you Abyss, Nikki does seem to be our fearless *leader*, ne?~ She's so organized~ Q.Q Yay!

Location's a good question... I don't think I've ever heard of them assigned until the con-staff maybe assigns it perhaps, like in the schedules...?

You mean the Pre-Con? No, that's August 16th (we're in July, lol).

And actually locations of photo shoots are chosen by the groups themselves. Staff don't actually have any say because the shoots are attendee-ran events. So, whenever we all agree on a place, it will become THE place for the shoot.

lol, The Pre-Con is August 16th, at noon. We're meeting at the hotel to get a tour through and get used to the area, and then we are also going to check out the area, hang out and do a pre-battle walkthrough for the Mock-Battle.

Whoa, mock battle? Let me join your party Barret. Can anyone join?
I'm good with any kinda blade(s), as well as mixed martial arts.

Yeah, totally. The thread is here: http://www.kumoricon.org/forums/index.php?topic=9624.0

Basically, we will just be battling in typical Final Fantasy fashion, doing random battles in the way and style of the video games. So, yeah, we'd love to have you join up.

No actually, its because they are too freaking lazy to drive me to portland more than once a month and I doubt they would let me go so close to con <.< its not that I'm underage, its that I'm a burden.
