2009 January 18 general meeting

The January general meeting will be held on Sunday, January from 1pm-5pm at Borderlands Games.

Like all general meetings, it is open to the public. General meetings are intended for potential and current staff and volunteers. There will be department reports and news updates, and breaking into groups where people can meet and plan.

Unfortunately I will not be able to make this meeting.  I forgot to ask this day off from work.

If there is anything regarding the Auction mentioned at the meeting, could someone PM me the message?

I believe I enjoyed when we met there before--Jaki, is that where you were on guitar and I sang Wanted Dead or Alive the only time I played Rock Band? LOL!
I am desperately trying to heal my beloved fishie (had for a decade plus) with a new dual antibiotic (including Flagyl) on Saturday. How she responds to that will largely determine whether I make this meeting.
Meantime it's been fun helping with the Bylaws!

As for Creation Station, Kate (Fanfic Coordinator) and Jeni (CS Staff & Panelist) will be there, and possibly Steve (my Assistant). I however forgot to take the carbons out of the aquarium when medicating my fishie yesterday so I have to start over, and ugh, just found mold all through my closet, which I have to deal with today on my day off....I am definitely going to help you, Jaki, both days at Asian Celebration here in Eugene, however. Jeni will help if she has time off that weekend. Please keep us posted as to how best to help, when/where to meet, etc. Saturday I should be free all day; Sunday all day after 1pm. I will not be at the Snow Ball, though.

Wow, what a quick meeting! It only took a half hour to go over reports and we actually got news from most of the directors other than what staff they were looking for. This early in the year the meetings are usually recruitment drives, and we did get a bit of that, but mostly we got real news.

I've got one video up right now but I've got to chop the other one into uploadable segments so it'll be up later.

Unfortunately, my computer seems to wanna shut down any time I try to watch a YouTube video.

I assume that, since I hadn't received a PM, that nothing regarding the Auction was mentioned, correct?  What about guests?  I saw something about how we have three guests that were announced at the meeting.

Announced guests were:
*Last Stop Tokyo, Simon Young's side project band
*Soul Candy, anime theme song cover band
*Svetlana Chmakova, writer/artist for Dramacon and Nightschool.

Look for more info on them when our Guests page gets put up.  (Which will happen once I stop driving Jeff nuts with other projects.)

Sorry the videos aren't up yet. I've been spending all my time on that computer sweeping out a trojan I got when I accidentally clicked an ad banner last weekend. I think it's done now so when I get home tonight I should be able to post the last half of the meeting.

From what I gathered from last year, I didn't have to.  I went through it last year, being trained by the previous chair, with the expectation that I was doing it this year, too.

From what I gathered from last year, I didn't have to.  I went through it last year, being trained by the previous chair, with the expectation that I was doing it this year, too.

1)  No staff position at Kumoricon works like that.  Last year's Yoji Manager is NOT automatically this year's.  Ditto for ... every position.  New year, new board.  ALL staff reset. 

2) This department is not under the Chair.  This department is under me, Relations.  All people interested in working in this department are welcome to talk to me about it.

Yup.  Con staff and structure reset at elections.  Staff then sign up throughout the year.  We currently have no staff postions that are year to year. 

I am thinking that we should have 10-15 minutes of General Staff orientation / Kcon Structure Primer at the next General Meeting.  Might make for alot less confusion.
