« on: February 28, 2005, 12:26:44 pm »
OK people it is time for all of you who haven't come to a big LANime party in Salem to get on down here and see what all the fuss is about!

This time we will have DOUBLE the space, and that means more stuff for everyone to do!

Here is what is happening:

In the first big room we'll have:

DDR/Karaoke Revolution (all day)
MANGA tables
GO
ART CONTEST (I'll have supplies there, but it would help if people brought their own as well)
COSPLAY CONTEST

16 man HALO 2  (with a tournament for fabulous prizes)

ANIME VIEWING:
Chrono Crusade
Full Metal Alchemist

HONG KONG FILMS:
Butterfly & Sword
God of Gamblers Returns

J-rock:
Dir En Grey Music Videos

In the other big room we'll have:
LAN gaming (PLEASE bring your own PC, cords, POWERSTRIP, games installed already, scanned for viruses etc...)
and
FREE STUFF TABLES

This party is also a POTLUCK so bring food and there is always plenty to share and eat!

I should also have fun promo packs from ADV and FUNImation so I'll have lots of stuff to give away and give out as prizes as well as POCKY to sell and give away ($1 a box)

There will also be HALO 2 and Counterstrike tourneys for prizes as well as hourly raffles for more prizes and YES the event is

FREE FREE FREE FREE FREE FREE FREE FREE FREE FREE FREE FREE FREE FREE FREE FREE FREE FREE FREE

So, come on out.  It is that perfect chance to have some convention style fun.  Come in costume.  Come and dance, come and eat, come and PARTY!!!

This is also a great way to get ahold of one of my *supercool* playstation controller sweaters for only $5!!!

Here is the IMPORTANT INFO:

The party is on MARCH 12th.
It goes from 2pm-midnight

It is happening at Chemeketa Community College Building 34

Take exit number 260B for Chemeketa Community College.
Turn left onto Chemawa Road NE.
Turn right onto Portland Road NE.

Turn left onto Satter Drive NE to enter the Chemeketa Community College campus.

I was wondering, could I fit in some J-rock to play? I mean, I don't want you to have to take any anime/live ation movies out or anything. But do you think I could fit in somewhere to play Dir En Grey stuff?

I think that would be very cool.  Would it work if we played that around 9:30?  I have the schedule planned out up until 9:30 and I think that some J-rock would fit in nicely AND add to the variety 8) .

How long is the video/concert dvd you want to show?  If it is like 45 min or whatever, then we can show some J-Rock and then maybe a couple more ADV anime eps or whatever I decide on putting in the schedule between now and the party.

Here is my tenative viewing schedule:

2:00-3:40: Chrono Crusade (4 eps)
3:40-5:10: Butterfly & Sword
5:10-5:30: 20 min of ADV previews (break)
5:30-7:15: Full Metal Alchemist (4 eps)
7:15-9:20: God of Gamblers Returns
9:20-9:30: break
9:30-11:00: ??

let me know what you think.

p.s.  Are you going to J-rock cosplay??  That would be cool if you did that for the contest, you might just win a prize.... :D

Oh, well since you have your schedule up, I'll go ahead and add my tentative schedule. Note that the tourney times are dependent on the number of entries we get. Also, to enter the Counter Strike of Halo 2 tourneys, you must arrive at LEAST 30mins early to make sure you get registered on time:

Room 100 LAN Gaming - Counter Strike (v1.6)
       12-2 : Set-up (staff and volunteers only)
2-5 : Tourney prep and practice
       5:00 : Counter-Strike Tourney Starts: Round 1
       5:30 : CS Tourney: Round 2
       6:00 : CS Tourney: Round 3
       6:30 : CS Tourney: Round 4
7:00 : CS Tourney: Final Round
 7:30-10:00 : Free Play
10:00 : Awards Ceremony and Prize drawing
10:30-11:30 : Free Play
11:30-12:00 : Clean-up and Pack-up

Room 101A XBox Gaming - Halo 2
       12-2 : Set-up (staff and volunteers only)
2-7:30 : Tourney prep and practice - 16 man matches
       7:30 : Halo 2 Tourney Starts: Round 1
       8:00 : Halo 2 Tourney: Round 2
       8:30 : Halo 2 Tourney: Round 3
       9:00 : Halo 2 Tourney: Round 4
       9:30 : Halo 2 Tourney: Final Round
   10-11:30 : Free Play - 16 man matches
11:30-12:00 : Clean-up and Pack-up

Drawing for a bottle of Bawls every hour, at the hour.

It looks like this will work with your schedule rarnom. I'm glad too, because there wasn't really too many options on how to fit both tourneys in without them overlapping.

OH, and rarnom, do you have a schedule for room C yet? That's where you're going to have the manga, go, and art stuff... you can hand out awards at the awards ceremony, but if you have any other events, like deadlines for the art contest, or rounds of Go!, maybe you'd want to include those...

Oh, well counter strike (mod for Half Life) is only like $5, and Halo 2 will be on the XBox, which we will provide (we have arranged for some members to bring their boxes and games). So, if you wanted to play in both tournaments, even if you didn't have EITHER game, you'd only need like $5 to get Half Life.

Also, we MAY (not a promise) have a few copies for sale at the LAN for like $10 if you can't find one by then. I'd imagine if we did this we'd only have a few available though.

Ok, good idea...

As far as manga and GO, that will be just a free time type deal.  No competitions or contests seeing as how none of us are that good at GO yet (except Chris).  There should be 3 boards there for people to use and play on.

The ART CONTEST final entries need to be put up by 9:00 pm.
All art needs to be drawn on site.

As people finish their art, I'l have them pin it up on one of the walls and have them numbered for easy judging.  I'll have the art judging go from 9:00-9:20 or so.

The Cosplay contest will be basically all day and I'll have some folks help judge and we'll pick the top 3-5 costumes and they'll get a fun prize.  As they come in, I'll have them put on a sticker with a number for judging.

I'll announce the winners at 10:00 at the awards ceremony.
The trick is not minding.

Ok, I updated my schedules a bit and I'll make sure and have all this stuff written out and posted the day of the event as well.  As well as some judges picked out ahead of time.

i have also added the Dir En Grey J-rock videos to the agenda in the viewing room. 8)

I'd like some definition of Counter Strike

Do you mean old CS or CS:Source?
What version?
Do I need to be registered through Steam, or is 1 and twelve 0's acceptable?

if you are talking about LAN gaming, there won't be extra computers for people to use.  HALO 2 and DDR on the other hand require you to bring nothing.  But if you want to do PC gaming you need to bring your own PC.

I have a concern, at Kumoricon they peace bonded weapons, I know we don't have asmany people, so therefore it shouldn't be hard to controll our crowd, but maybe something should be said about weapons. I know that we arn't allowed real weapons on campus and I really don't know what they would allow for such an event as this. For my character I would usually carry a shealthed Katakana with me, but since that would be illegal on campus I am not going to bring it. I just thought we might want to bring that up. So maybe ban weapons or peace bond, or at least find out what the rules are on campus before campus security comes knocking. ~_^ Just a thought...

That is a good point.  I think that a safe bet would be to not bring any 'non-toy' weapons.  Like real blades, guns, etc...

I don't see anything wrong with toy guys (with the orange tips) or plastic swords, wood staffs.  but, that is something we should look into.

If anything we will be checking everyone in and we can make the judgement calls on what will or will not be allowed when each person checks in at the front.

First, costume is totally optional. I think most people aren't going to be wearing one, so don't worry about it.

Second, we'll be playing CS on the LAN, so there won't be any way for you to play off-site. Besides, why'd you want to? You wouldn't be able to get your prize if you won!

We're giving away a whole case of Bawls to our tournament winners, and we'll probably be throwing in a shirt from ATI on top of that too. They just sent me a whole bunch of their Ruby shirts. :)

You should come dude. There's going to be food, anime, lots of gaming, and really cool prizes. Since it's free and all there's even more reason to come! :)

Oh, and if your mom still isn't sure remind her that it is on the college campus and there's security there the whole time. I've found that that puts a parent's mind at ease...  besides, we're a well behaved group, and we still have to abide by campus rules and regulations (meaning no alchohol or any other funny stuff), so it's a pretty safe environment.

We've been doing these LANs for a while now and I can't think of any sort of incident we've had yet. Even with the 62 people we had last time things went rather well. :)

COOL!  I am glad your parents are letting you come.  :D

ALSO, we are having another smaller Salem get together this Thursday the 10th @ 7 pm at SIP the bubble tea house downtown 325 Court St NE.  It is right next door to Great Harvest bread.

So, any of you locals and new salem club members should come out.  In addition to the manga, GO, and other fun stuff, we might watch a few episodes of BLEACH.

Always good times here in Salem!! :D

I kinda freaked out a 6th grader earlier... I was like 'WOAH. Manga! :D" And she was like "Ah. O__O"
I didn't realize that the 6 and 7th grade had tried to make an Anime/manga club. >D No one can find an adult sponsor.

that's awesome you guys can come. btw, time and weather permitting I'll be taking shots of the cosplay, so if anyone wants some nifty portraits (hey I have to submit my portfolio next week hehe), you should come and let me know. I might also try and get some done tomorrow... I might be posting that in a diff thread.,.....
