Saving up for the con

Just now as I was depositing my change from starbucks into Mrs. Piggleworths the third, i realized I now had three piggy banks full of change saved up for next years k con.. previos years i just saved over the summer but right after k con ended i started collecting again, just change really from money my parents give me to buy stuff, like food, shoes, clothes, art, games, books ect... even if its just a few quarters, and already I seem to have a lot of money (this spiffy doller coins are helping on consurve piggy bank room)

so i'm just curios, have you guys started saving up yet?

My parents told me that unless I pay for it myself, there's no way in hell they're going to let me go to Kcon next year.
Already have a hundred and something (sort of went overboard with the working, 'cause they told me they aren't going to pay for any parts of my cosplay either).
Hoping they'll get me something for Christmas (a Kcon preregistration is on my list).

I haven't started just yet because I haven't worked at all. I will however start this weekend getting about $200 ^_^.

I also will be putting change in a bank then deposit it to my bank later.

yeah I started saving as soon as I got some more money for something. and I plan on getting a job soon since I need to pay for cosplays and con(ordering offline and commissioning). and other things. I already have about 200 saved up.

I have the options between eating on a daily basis and having money for con.  So far I'm sticking with the one that will keep me alive.  Hoping to get a quickie job for a couple weeks and try to get $500~$700 so I can get a Japanese PS2 and materials for the Rock Band stage for MEW Con.

I havent saved up but my mom owes me about $1000.
So she said I should be getting all of my money by febuary just in time for sakuracon and I have to save the rest for Kumoricon ^_^

sometimes some cons do have sales. certain vender's at least. artists usually lower their prices because they don't want to bring anything back with them except what they bought.

yeah most venders actually have con prices because so many people buy then. like at the beginning on the first day its 20% off.

yup and sometimes venders battle to get more customers. one time I watched to booths go from 20-30-35-40% in a day and a half. it was crazy.

I spent 60 dollars last year (because after reg, that was all I had), and I would've spent moar if I had it. xD I'll probably keep spare change like I did last year. Over the summer, last year, I had 11 dollars in change. o.o

lets see the frst couple of k-cons I went to I would lend my mom $$ thru the year and at k-con collect with varing sucess

it also helps that k-con was around my birthday= birthday $$

now that I has job and $$ i save a bit more towards k-con

tho after I went to japan I would spend less at k-con cuz what i saw in the dealers room wasnt nearly as spiffy as the things I bought in japan

Though generally, I spend about as much as a save, so I'm not very good at saving... .

Kumoricon will not be selling Yaoi or Yuri paddles. It is a huge con NO-NO. These are strickly inuendo- baised weapons and we wouldnt want to encourage sexual situations for any of our con-goers at any age. In the past they have been nothing but problems. Creepy guys hitting cute girls, etc. We dont want to associate with that kind of behaviour. Kumoricon has banned them compleatly.

Oh, and just for rules sake. Not only are they not allowed to be sold, but if we see them as a prop they have to be confisated.

most of my money probelly comes from the fact that my folks pay for just about everythin cause i still live at home (high schooler) so if they send me to the grocery store its always their money I'm using not mine, but for all the kids in my same boat seriosly taking every bit of change you get into a piggy bank lets you save LOADS of money, trust me those quarters and doller bills add up fast!

once the paddles were banned at both Yaoi and Yuri con they were pretty much banned from EVERY con around the US that I know of, at least the big ones.

but seriosly, it says something about peoples use with the paddles when they have to ban them from Yaoi con and Yuri con.

no seriously weapons are really cheap. my friend wanted to get her boyfriend one and she chose your normal sized katana and it was only like 30 dollars. she was freaking about the price. one of the shorter weapons was only 10. plushies seem to get really pricy. but thats what I can only collect since I'm not too responsible with weapons. so I need to save quite a bit.....also considering I'm paying for a room also.

Good for you. I really don't need a whole lot for savings. I'm already registered all I need is money for a hotel room and food. I didn't buy too much at the dealers room but some extra money might be nice....though I think if I was going to buy anything it would be at Sakuracon, they have a much bigger dealers room

Cobalt Fluxes can be significantly harder to deal with than one of those foam mats.  I'm figuring on spending 20 minutes securing them to the frames and then another 2 hours cleaning them and checking each panel for sensitivity, then another 30 minutes optimising sync, lag, refresh rate, and resolution.  That's just for the DDR, and that's assuming everything goes smoothly.

Working on Black friday is terrible! I've had to work on 2 of them and i hated it!! Sooo many annoying people, some with coupons. I hate coupons!!  There never in the system! Never! and they take forever to process manually. Oh and gawd forbid you dont have an item from the adds, if you run out or don't have it they flip out on you!
Luckily this year i dodged that bullet.
