Also, the Fruits Basket manga made me cry quite a bit actually. I love that series.

I've heard that before.

I'm rewatching the second season of Bleach. The storyline is longer than I thought; does that count as an anime that makes me cry?

Ahh, me too surprisingly. That's the first and only manga that's ever made me cry, and it managed to do it a couple times. I'm usually pretty stoic while reading/watching sad scenes in works of fiction.

This isn't an anime, but the Vocaloid song "Paper Airplanes" made me start bawling all of the sudden when I first saw it. None of the other ones ever have. I think it's because that series of songs is based vaguely off real events and those always make me cry.

One thing that DIDN'T make me cry, though, was the ending of Professor Layton and the Unwound Future. Everyone else I've ever talked to that has played it say that they did, but I couldn't. (I don't think it helped that I'd spoiled myself on the ending in Japanese before seeing the events leading up to it, but even without that the plot was sort of...easy for me to guess what was going to happen.)

I cried at the first season because..well..it was sad as eff at the end.
and i cried at the second season because i was so disapointed at the end...

The last episode of Nabari no Ou. Just. The ending. I started bawling. My mom was so confused when I ran up to her and started sobbing into her shoulder.

Also the ending of Wolf's Rain, as a few people have mentioned, especially what happens to Tsume. Every time I watch it I just want to give him a great big hug.

Yes, that one. I didn't shed a tear, but would imagine that Ed and Al were/would be pretty super saiyan 2 about it. And Sonny Strait got such a short time playing him.

Since I haven't seen the end of the anime, the end of the manga: Chobits. I didn't cry, but I was a little sad about how it ended, what Hideki had to choose or...something something dark side would happen! (resist spoiler revealing!)

As far as this season goes, Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai is only three episodes in (fourth is airing as i type this, actually), and already has me bitterly crying the bitch tears.

It should be illegal to write characters this relatable.

Just finished watching Moshidora (Moshi Koko Yakyu no Joshi Manager ga Drucker no Management o Yondara) episode 09. Even though it wasn't a surprise, there were plenty of tears.

Wolf's Rain the was the first one to make me cry. Then Inuyasha lol Then, before I was even into Cowboy Bepbop, I saw the last episode and cried through almost the whole thing. I learned what it was, and then started watching the series.
Spirited Away, Ponyo, and Graveyard of Fireflies all make me cry. And, though some may not know this movie, Voices of a Distant Star made me cry like my best friend had just died. It was the most beautiful movie ever.

I'm with you on that, Lychee. I watched it once, and it will forever remain in my memory as an amazing movie, but the kind of heart-brutalizing amazing that scares me away from ever watching it again. Like a lion that is beautiful but you know will eat you if you get too close, I love it from afar. I don't think I can watch it again, though, lol.

To date here are the anime that have made me cry. Starting with the saddest.

1. Clannad After Story- the saddest anime in existence.

2. Tokyo Magnatude 8.0- even more so due to recent happenings.

3. Fullmetal Alchemist- Huges(nuff said)

4. Grave of Fireflies- I knew the ending before I watched it so it had less of an impact.

5. Naruto Shippuuden- Has gotten very good lately with heart renching moments of characters death.

Anime that did not make me cry but sure got to me emotionally

1. Gurren Lagann

2.Bokurano

3. Cowboy Bebop

Manga rather than anime, but - the scene at the end of Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle where "Syaoran" and "Sakura" are reunited in Hong Kong, and they go speechless and hug each other was one of the most heart-wrenching things I've ever seen. It's not even sad, it just got to me in a weird way and put me on the verge of tears.

And teh ending of Samurai 7. So bittersweet...

I know that many of you have been saying Chrono Crusade. I've read the manga, and that came close to making me cry. However, by the time I read it, I knew the basics on how the anime ended, and the manga storyline is AMAZINGLY emotional. I have seen some of the anime since I finished the manga (not the ending, though) and truthfully, some of the changes sort of pissed me off, such as Rosette experiencing stigmata. (I would like to see it in full, though, but only if it's in the English dub; I know that they set the script to match the speech-styles of that time period, which makes it great by default).

SAME HERE!!!!

AnoHana has been a pretty killer show as far as "Bawwww" factor goes to begin with.... but I was literally doing that ugly cry where you have to gasp for air every once in awhile for pretty much the entire last episode.... Episode 5 was another really tough one for me in that show, but that's just because for some reason I really love Yukiatsu. =/

Came close to crying at Mai Mai Miracle because it touches on every emotional childhood memory, even though I didn't grow up in Japan and my childhood was nothing like that. An amazing job by the film makers to find the universal human experiences within the particular facts of the story.

I am such a crybaby, I cry when anyone dies, unless I hate them that is. Some of the anime that really got me are Cowboy bebop, Naruto, FMA, Wolf's Rain, Weis Kreuz, Sayuki, Avatar the last airbender, Trinty Blood, Trigun, Evangelion, Black butler, Darker than black, ect. I have come to the conclusion that anything I watch will make me cry at some point, and my favorite charactor almost always dies! Sooo annoying!

Too true I cryed a few times but mostly at the end. Sooo Saaad! Another one that got me was Angel Sanctuary, the manga got me way worse than the DVD. Last Exile got me when Dio dies
