Not if I have anything to say about it. I don't watch anime; I don't read manga; I come to Kumoricon 100% for video games. PAX is leaving us no other option but to become competitive about gaming. In 2008, it was an innocent conflict; now they're walking right over us and I'm not gonna just lie back and let Kumoricon's gaming suffer just because there's a bigger event with bigger sponsors. There's no way we're going to get bigger, as a subdepartment of a smaller convention, so our only option is to make Kumoricon's Game Room a better event with better sponsors.

Not if I have anything to say about it. I don't watch anime; I don't read manga; I come to Kumoricon 100% for video games. PAX is leaving us no other option but to become competitive about gaming. ...but Kumori Con isn't a gaming convention. It's true games are a part of anime/manga fandom, but gaming is a side thing at anime cons. PAX is all about gaming- from 24-hour BYOC LAN gaming, to console tournaments, to demos of the newest games. I staffed PAX in 2007 and it was fun... and HUGE! We shouldn't compete with them as far as our gaming is concerned because they will beat us handily because that's all that PAX is about. Instead, we should focus on the different core demographics that make our cons different- PAX will attract the gamers and Kumori Con will attract the anime/manga fans. Heck, a sci-fi con that shares our weekend is Dragon Con in Atlanta, Georgia and Dragon Con will attract the sci-fi fans.

I'm sure Jaki will work on improving the gaming room because we shouldn't give up on the gaming room just because there's a gaming con also on Labor Day weekend- but that's not what Kumori Con is about. There was hardly anything anime or manga related as far as PAX was concerned other than having Japanese games- because that's not what PAX is focused on.

I know Versailles have made appearances in the US before, so it isn't completely out of reach to suggest them, and Juka, well that is just a "What If" situation, haha.

Suggesting Johhny Yong Bosch as well... He's done VA work for a LOT of anime and video games (Bleach, Code Geass, Haruhi Suzumiya, and Trigun, as well as Tales of the Abyss, Disgaea 3, Persona 4 (!!!!!!), Eternal Sonata (!!!!!!) and Time Hollow to name just a few) plus he was a power ranger, which is always good.

According to a year-old myspace blog, his agent is Maureen Rose and he wants you to direct any convention invitations to maureen@osbrinkagency [dot] com.

It would be so super amazing if I could hear Adachi or Fugue (not that anyone played Eternal Sonata. ): ) in person.
