squats, lunges, rock climbers ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSTK0XzbFN0 ) Really anything that keeps your hear rate up for about 30 minutes is good. Jumping jacks, jumping rope (or do the motion without a rope). If you have stairs at your house run up and down those.

A personal trainer is really nice. If you are a member of a gym usually they give you a certain number of free trainer times so you might want to look into that. For bally's it's two. I found them very useful, I mean I was already doing a bunch of it but it showed me that there is more to do than 30 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of weights. I can do both at the same time ;D

no problems. Also ask some girls that are on sports teams at your school. I bet they would be more than willing to help you out. A lot of them have a very tough work out routine that was given to them by their coach (I know I did).

I keep jumping in on working out and stuff but WORK AND SCHOOL! God I leave 6:30 am and I'm not home until 6:30 pm and then I'm doing homework until 9:30-10. Are any of you doing your workouts in a busy schedule?

I need to figure out something to do that will work on my time schedule that I can do in my small apartment and that won't cost me money.

College makes me poor.

I have a crazy-busy schedule right now too!  I actually signed up for a weight training class at my school, so even if I find no free-time, I know that at the very least I'll still be working out twice a week.

I have a gym membership that I'm locked into for a while still (ridiculous cancellation fees), but I really never have the time to go now with working full time and going to school full time, and commuting all the  time.   :-\   If you can fit it into your schedule/plans, taking a physical fitness class can be pretty beneficial.

Although I think being busy pretty much constantly keeps me pretty active and energized, and I don't seem to eat out of boredom anymore.   :-X

Yeah the classes really help a lot too.

I'm in soccer right now and next term I am hoping to take circuit weight training as well as working out four days a week.

So that is a good solution, if you don't have time to work out then take a p.e. class

I'm afraid to get on the scale. I'm been skimping on my exercise since I've been busy with packing/cleaning and moving. but hey I've fell in love with some music that makes me want to dance more.

are you skinny now?

It could be that you are gaining muscles and losing fat. If that is the case then yes you will gain weight. Muscle weighs more than fat. You want to know if you really are losing fat you need to take measurements then take new ones every two weeks or every month. That will show you your real progress.

Again you need to be under a certain body fat % to see abs. Everywhere I have read it says it is 15% but I am about 20% and can see them kinda well. So I would say somewhere between 15-18%.

In order to do that you will need to focus on cardio, which burns fat, and watch what you eat. You can stat doing ab exercises now so once you get there they will be fully visible with little work. But just doing a bunch of crunches every day is not going to get you abs.

so I gained some serious muscle(not really) in my arms from moving a bunch this weekend. I feel stronger which is good. and I lost some weight too. not much but I'm feeling better. except for the fact that I'm getting sick. :/

Aww that is too bad that you are getting sick, but I'm happy that you gained muscle and lost some weight.

Today I am starting to seriously try to lose a few inches off my waist. I started eating better and when I weighed myself at the gym today I was at 130 ^_^ So I lost two pounds over the weekend. I am also going to work out for four days a week, two out of the four will be hard workouts (by hard I mean 2 hours, where the other two days it will only be an hour)

I'm hoping to see some results by the time winter break comes around....seeing how I wont have a gym I'll just have to maintain for those three weeks ;D

it helps. Also take a multivitamin. It will help boost your metabolism as well, plus it will make sure that your body isn't getting weak from the amount of exercise/ lack of food you are getting.

here to post some progress. well yesterday people kept telling me I'd lost weight. I didn't wanna believe them. then I looked at my legs later that day when I was changing and I thought that it was weird that I had a little indent in my thigh. I told one of my friends and she said 'maybe it's muscle definition.' 0_0

I've also noticed situps/crunches have become easier for me. I use to do crunches on my bed since it was softer and easier to do them on. but I haven't been able to lately so I do them on the floor instead. I don't get as tired as easily and I can do more. I use to only be able to do 20 like back in gym class and I'd be really tired afterwards. but I feel like I can do more. :3

during this weekend I actually have been eating sort of badly not exercising as much as I wanted to. so I got on the scale tonight thinking 'man I probably gained 3 pounds back or something like that.' nope I lost a pound and a 1/2. 8D not much but still it's progress.

That's good to hear. Just keep up the hard work and you will see more progress in no time.

I have decided that I am going to work on losing fat and not so much gaining muscle. I have quite a bit of muscle as it is and I need that muscle to show through so in order to do that I need to lose fat.

My plan: eat healthy (salads for lunch every day) and do an hour of cardio when I go to the gym instead of 30 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of weights.

well I think I need to build more muscle but also burn fat quickly too. I've been lifting weights to build upper arm mass which I need if I'm going to be mori sempai for con. :3 but I want to build more muscle in my legs too so I don't get tired quickly but I don't want to be ripped. I just want to be slim but strong. :/

Ok so I had a salad today, I played soccer for an hour and after my midterm I plan on going to the gym to do cardio for an hour. I'm thinking running mixed in with a little bit of sprinting ;D

okay I wanted to ask if anyone knows. what vitamins or minerals or whatever helps you lose weight and gain muscle? I'm trying to eat more protein for hair and nail growth and I heard vitamin D is good for weight loss.

so I've moved already and today was my first day walking home to there instead. my bus stop in about a mile and half away. I was not tired at all but it was a really good work out especially in the cold. :3

I don't think vitamins are the case of more weight loss but if you get the recommended amount your body would heal fast making you able to do more.

I did an hour of cardio today and it was a lot harder than I thought it would be. Normally I do an hour of workout but 30 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of weights and I can handle that just fine. I wasn't dying after an hour but it was much harder than what I normally do.

My work out was put on hold due to the ankle injury. I'm hoping to start working out again next week. I guess I'll have to watch what I eat till then ;D

definitely. and I'm still working on that. moving helped since now I have to walk farther. but I get hungry at odd times. and we can't find the dog leash so he's getting a little out of shape.

well I went on to a bunch of weight sites;typed in my height and weight and they all said that I only needed to lose 40 pounds. 10 of that is already off. 170 is my healthy weight for my structure and height. and that's not that hard. BUT if I do still have some flab I'll start doing more toning exercises. :3

yeah that would be a good idea. I am in a healthy weight range I am just trying to lose a little flab. I'm only trying to lose about 10 pounds all together so that shouldn't be too hard. I just need to crack down sometime, no junk food x.x

meh I eat before bed. doesn't screw me up at all. sometimes I need to or I can't sleep. thats what I was talking about getting hungry at weird times. I get hungry before bed even though I might have just been sitting there doing nothing for awhile and just ate dinner only a few hours ago. I think I'm getting hungry not.
