Kumoricon 2008 article in The Yuuyake Shimbun on stands now
« on: October 09, 2008, 07:53:26 pm »
Hi all,

Thanks to all of you who helped with my article about Kumoricon for The Yuuyake Shimbun. I wish I could have included all your comments, but there just wasn't enough space. I think it turned out pretty well. Please let me know what you think.

This was my second Kumoricon article your comments and suggestions will help me with the article I hope to write again for 2009.

Thanks everybody!

John

It's free. You can find it at Uwajimaya, Marinepolis Sushilands, Uwajimaya in Seattle, Ikenohana Restaurant, and pretty much any other Japanese restaurant in the Portland area.

Pick it up! Kumoricon is on the front page!

Thanks for the positive e-mail. I do hope to do another story again next year.

When "mini" events come up I hope to cover those, too.

How about in the Eugene area?  I would like to read the article, just because I like seeing anything about cons and anime in the news.  ;D  Is there an On-Line version I can see, or can you E-Mail it to me, or mail me a copy?  I am unfamiliar with The Yuuyake Shimbun, I am sure there were copies floating around at KCon or available in the Dealers Room, but I must have missed them.  Is it geared towards Japanese and Asian culture in general, or something else?  If you want to distribute here in Eugene, I would try Emerald City Comics, and Kings Asian Foods, as well as restaurants like Empire Buffet, and Kabuki's.

I just talked to the editor of the Yuuyake Shimbun. He said he sends copies to a few places down there, including an Asian Cultural Center, a Japanese school and to UofO. He send he will send a stack to Kabuki's and Kings Asian Foods, so maybe take a look there next week. Let me know if you still can't find it.

I just wanted to say THANKS GUYS for making the 2008 Kumoricon cover one of the most picked up issues of The Yuuyake Shimbun ever! We were completely out a week before the newest issue hit stands, and I know a large part of that is Con-goers. This helps me ensure I can keep covering Kumoricon in the years to come, so ARIGATOU!
