Easier to play, but nope, no running on the board; don't want anyone to trip and get hurt. That's why if we have fights, it happens next to the board.

(Setting something up like this on carpet is easy: painter's tape, done. On grass, it's a bit more difficult, but don't worry, me and the minions got it under control. ^_^)

Two things about checkers:
1. when someone is 'crowned' they wear a pirate headband or ninja headband (possibly of the Naruto variety)

2. when someone is jumped, they are glomped instead.
we also need a 'player' on either side to command their 'pieces' as long as it isn't DBZ or Yu-gi-oh! characters...they would take too long.

well seeing how the picnic starts at noon I wasn't planing on starting the chess game till about one. That would give people a chance to show up a little latter if they wanted.

The idea is to tell them noon, but not to start it until later. That way, the early people can take a break, rest, and talk, and the late people'll be on time.

This is actually a good idea, for the K-con cosplay chess it took us way longer to set up than I thought it would. The whole drawing the board, writing the spots creating the armbands was somewhat time consuming.

Here is my apartment, where we get the board packed for quick deployment. Then we take it, the ramune, and the donuts down to the waterfront.

OK stop posting in huge font. People aren't going to join the team if you post in this topic. The people that want to join and read the topic have joined....there wont be a whole lot more that join between now and then....we will get the rest of the pieces AT the picnic.

If you want to recruit then go to different topics and talk to your friends and ask them to do it.

Anyway, directions to my house:

A. Take Google Earth (or Google Maps) and go to 45.496745, -122.833108. These coordinates are very, very exact, and they will put you within 3 inches of the front door of my apartment. Make sure to zoom in. A lot. More zoom. I'm not kidding, zoom in some more. It's a 3 story building. I live on the bottom, at apartment 414. Google Earth or Google Maps can plot directions right up to my doorstep.

B. To get there on train, take the blue line west until you get to the Beaverton Creek Station. Then walk into the castle you see, and all the way back until you find my apartment, 414. It helps if you look at the satellite map on Google Earth or Google Maps first.

C. My postal address, if you'd rather find (less than exact) directions with that is 15125 Millikan Way #414, Beaverton OR, 91006.
