Alright, so we're gonna play some chess at the picnic. YAY! Here's what I need if we're gonna do this:

WHITE:
King - Hawkeye
Queen - xxxchihiroxxx
Two bishops - Catchxme, danayoki
Two knights - Cassiopeia
Two rooks - Sugarlat, awesome_sauce_101
Eight pawns - oniufuru, TanisNikana

BLACK:
King - Invader Spleen
Queen - DemonSpawn
Two bishops - Saya-chan, Mika
Two knights - Nikkiolie, NeonFoxRocks
Two rooks - MizzArianna, Naruchan Tebayo
Eight pawns - Inu, PockyReno

These are general safety and gameplay rules, things that changed between Kumoricon's cosplay chess and this one.

Firstly, the board now makes more sense. Instead of numbering the board 1 - 64 and hoping that everyone can do weird sorts basic math really freaking fast when players move, the board will now be numbered and lettered, 1 - 8, and A - H. A1 is in one corner, H8 is in the other corner. This makes things a bit easier on the players who can't do crazy things with the number 8.

Secondly, the captures are not staged, they're improv. Be on your toes like a midget at a urinal, and let's make this awesome.

Thirdly, capturing happens to the side of the board. Seeing as how the board is made of caution tape, we don't want anyone to trip and have a sudden case of broken neck. So we do the fighting and stuff off to the side.

Fourth, off with the armbands! Everyone gets a foam chess piece that represents who they are instead. This is really neat because you can use this chess piece as a prop in your captures. Can't take the piece home with you; give it back when you're captured, or when the game's over.

psha lelouch is MADE to be the black king.... or knight... i can also play a white knight or king when i remove my wig i'm magicaly suzaku!... this entire post made no sense to people who don't watch code geass XP

If I come I will be in my night class uniform from Vampire Knight, so I think it'd be neat if I could be a knight on the white team.

Cosplay chess at the con was pretty cool, but there was one really horrible thing about it I'd like to change, just to make it easier to play:

No more calling the squares 1 - 64. That's hard to remember and doesn't work very well.

The squares will now be A1 - H8. Think like battleship. Rows and columns. Look up chess notation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Algebraic_chess_notation) if you don't understand.

Aside from that, this will be so epic!
