Dust Effect Question
« on: August 24, 2008, 10:44:55 am »
I'm going as a random survivor from RE: Extinction, so I'm trying to find a good way to have a sort of dust effect that I can add to my clothes. You know, dust from the sand in the desert and whatnot. I've had a few passing thoughts, but I've rejected most of them. Baby powder might bring about the right effect, but I don't feel like smelling like baby bum for three days. Flour might work, but I'm sure if it got wet or something it might start growing things. Plus bugs might colonize on me. Then I thought about make-up powder. I have no idea how well that might work.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be happy to hear them!

Tea or coffee stains!  That's how I got my nurse dress from white to tan.

Try some handfuls on material that isn't your costume first and see how it goes!

lol yeah, if you wanna look like you rolled in dirt...go roll around in some dirt, jump around fall down on purpose.  you'll probably end up with the right effect.

otherwise you might try things like UNSWEETENED cocoa powder...powdered makeup. i dunno.

for a white dust effect though, erm... xD

Well, you could try to brush on some sort of makeup powder? Or chalk?
