TUNAC planning meeting for 10-7-04
« on: October 02, 2004, 07:44:38 am »
The next planning meeting for tunac is this thursday the 7TH, we should have an actual conference room by then, untill I know for sure though we will have to plan on meeting in the fishbowl again. If you are interested in an anime club at all please come to the EMU fishbowl on thursday from 6pm to 7:30 pm, look for directions handmade signs or someone directing traffic upstairs, I will post more when I know it.

Cool!  I was never a Tunac member officially, but I am a U of O student.  You know what I'd like to see?  I'd like to see Tunac expand from just a place to watch anime, but maybe to a Japanese console gaming club too.

A few years ago people really needed clubs to get to see the latest Anime, but that isn't that hard for a large portion of the people anymore.  It would be fun to have DDR Tourneys downstairs in "The Break" or to also play import games.

I'd also be up for a Cosplay Party for Halloween.  I'd be willing to handle it, but I'd need to know if people already had too many other plans.  (I could host it at my house again as well, but that tends to not work for people with allergies.  I could really take the time to put a new heppa filter on the vacuum and to de-dog and cat hair the place, but then even that might not be enough for some).

To "officially" be a club you have to go thru a lot of paperwork, and meetings and stuff, I'm trying to get that done so it won't have to be done ever again. However only Terry, Ellen and myself were at the last planning meeting, and none of us are students, so that meeting was less than productive. If the is no intrest in a UO anime club we might just move to peoples houses.

New subject : A Halloween party sounds awesome, let me know if you go with that!

Again, I have classes on Thursday evenings this term and won't be able to come to TUNAC or con meetings for awhile. However, I will start coming again eventually.

Beth, great idea!! I tried to get something like this started (in my overly-enthusiastic way) when I first joined TUNAC several years ago. We had console gaming in the "social" room awhile ago, but it kinda fizzled. :(

However, there are already DDR tournies occasionally at the U of O... and you don't wanna know what the competition is like there...

As I mentioned the idea awhile ago, yes, I'd love to do the cosplay Halloween Party thing! Beth, your house is GREAT despite the problems it may give some with allergies (mine is probably only slightly better with smaller dogs and no cats), so if you want to have it there, I'm all for it... but you don't have to plan it all yourself. Do you want me to do anything to help?

Let's just see who else is up for it.  There will be a meeting in Eugene on Thursday (I'll bring it up and fill you in on the details) and then we can also talk about it in Portland on the 10th.

yay for exciting ideas!
oh and steve, if not enough folks get involved for us to stay on campus, then terry, beau and i were going to get together from time to time to watch anime on our own, possibly friday nights, friday afternoons, or saturday afternoons or nights.

And, if possible, I would be able to hold some sort of gathering for a fun day of anime at the beach. Ok, so, I technically live about a block away from the beach, but, I am closer than anyone else here!

By the way, Fridays and Saturdays are much better for me, personally. If I havn't read wrong, I believe it also works better for a few other peoples schedules aswell.

If only I could make some sort of subspace pocket universe for the purposes of viewing anime. Where's Washu when ya need her? =(

if someone who does have a front bumper on their car is into driving, i would love to combine a day at the beach with a night cozying up to some hot cocoa and and anime at a beach house. i get off work saturdays at 2 then work sundays at 4. if that timeline worked for anyone that would so totally rock.

meantime who is coming to tomorrow's meeting? note: some folks are meeting for dinner on thursday at 5:15 at toshi's ramen at 16th and pearl first

the kumoricon staff meeting.........any idea where that is being held? ryan had written he might not be able to get the jschool but not what the alternative would be!

Its not a beach house, its the house I live in normally.

Actually, I'd have to talk to my old man about it, first. He would most likely use the time to go fishing or something. Its his house though, I just pay rent for my room and such.

He was with me at the con, though he stayed in the room and visited our family and friends in Portland. He thought all the cosplayers were weird, LOL.

Okay, Ellen. Actually, Friday afternoons and Saturday afternoons are good for me. :) I'm volunteering Saturday evenings at the Democratic office until the election is over. (Four more weeks! Anyone care to join me?)

The beach thing would be awesome; I could cosplay if it were an agreed-upon thing. Let us in this thread know, and I'll be sure to check back.

Well, good news. I talked it over with Pops earlier, and he said it'd be no problem if some of ya would like to carpool down for a afternoon of anime, sand, lunch, whatever really.

Hmmm, Fridays would probably be best. Thought, for the life of me, It seems I may be booked solid the rest of the month. I'll see what the earliest I could set something up is.

Next weekend I will be in Montana visiting family, so perhapes Friday the 22nd would be fine?

Hows that work for everyone else?

We could even make up some sort of schedule, with time for lunch, some beach time, too. The beach is only a five minute walk away, and thats if you're slow like me. =)

You guys can scan my collection to see if you wanna watch anything. All my stuff is on DVD, by subbed stuff I can't burn to play on DVD, so, I guess that kinda limits it somewhat.

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/MyAnime/collection.php?user=Raoh&categ=5

Theres a list of my current collection. If ya want to come, pick out some of your favorites, or something you'd like to see, and we can work out a schedule.

This kinda feels like some sort of mini-con. It's a little bash at the beach.....for Otakus, LOL.

i could not make the 22nd. i have a dentist appointment, and work 4p to 9p.

if it is going to be on a friday, i would need at least a couple weeks notice to try to trade shifts with someone.

to be honest, fridays would really suck for me. i work at 6 am on saturdays!

Well, if its not too much trouble for Radien, we can work something out on Saturdays then.
