I am putting on the cosplay chess, but because I'm not on nikkiolie's list, I'm going to be doing it through a series of long-distance ventriloquist puppets.

Can you add me to that list?

Count me out in this. I don't think a meetup is fun when there are any rules or things you have to do. What happened to just friend's who like the same thing hanging out together?

 But yeah, sorry Tanis.  :P

Well when I first made this topic I said that I would like everyone to be in costume. So its not my fault if you don't want to go, this is after all a COSPLAY picnic and not just a meetup. I will understand if people can't be in costume for money reasons or others like it but not wanting to make a costume because it takes too much time is just lazy.

Going to events with a bunch of people in costume and when I am not is no fun for me. I would always want to participate in the fun activities so if you don't want to go then that's fine by me. I would like the majority of people there to be in costume (in a perfect world that would happen, but its not like I am going to turn people away if they are not dressed up)

Stop freaking out. XD

All I stated was an opinion. You know what that is? I'm allowed to have one, and announce it. I never said it was wrong. I just said I personally would like it differently and won't come because of it. No sweat, I'll just go to other meetups~

And not making a costume isn't lazy. No one, ever anywhere in time at a convention would be lazy for not spending the time making a costume.  If they whine, that's another story. But no one has so far.

Well, anyway, goodluck~!

I wasn't saying that you weren't allowed to have your oppinion but I was trying to explain why I wanted it to be in costume. And yes I did get a little defensive because the way you worded your post by saying that you weren't going to come because I ask that people be in costume, you were planing on being in costume anyway so I didn't see the reason for that.

And when I said that I thought not making a costume was lazy is because I asked the very first post for people to try to be in costume and that was over two months ago so they had plenty of time to throw something together even if it was crap.

I know that not everyone there will be in costume but I would like to get the majority of them to participate in something that I find extremely entertaining and fun. My friend made me do it once and I was hooked I would like to try to do the same for others.

I am not trying to jump all over you but merely trying to explain my thinking, please don't take this as an attack.

Yeah, I'll be coming as Ayase Yukiya. But don't count out those who don't come in cosplay. It wouldn't be fair to exclude our friends based on the clothes they wear.

Cosplay is very encouraged, but it's not quite like the masquerade where I'd kick you out if you were in jeans.

I didn't consider it attack, because I'm obviously not mad~  ;)

And on the internet wording kinda sucks. It also sounded like you were being overly defensive, but I'm sure that's just the internet messing with words. Sometimes people interpret things differently, so it's all good.

And the main reason I was on the whole 'not going because it's discouraging regular dressed people' is my best friend was planning to go, and for her to feel even the slightest bit left out is a huge no-no. And she doesn't really like cosplay. So, as long as cosplay is only encouraged and not scorned without, I'll be coming~

With Ari of course.  ;) Who will dress up, but only for a bit.

Well I think that someone in normal clothes around a bunch of people in costume would feel left out. So I would want those people that would normally wear normal clothes to get in costume. Like I said I wont turn people away. If you have a friend that wants to go but really doesn't want to cosplay that's fine. I was more talking about the people who want to cosplay but don't feel like making a costume.

and yeah the internet really does mess up a conversation x.x

Rule for all future internet interactions: when the emotion behind text is questionable, do not take it in the worst-case. Take it in the best-case. And please do not use the phrase "jump down my __", or "jump all over".

That should do it.

You figured out what I was trying to say but somehow couldn't get it out. My stand on this whole issue is that cosplay is strongly encouraged. I would change the first post to that but I can't modify it anymore v.v

but encouraged doesn't mean required. I feel like if you can do it than you should.

(and I didn't see this post till just now x.x)

My sister is coming, not in cosplay, but she's only going cause my mom won't let me go if she doesn't..... its a disclusion thing. That or she wants us out of the house. Anyways, she is not cosplaying, cause she's a stiff and thinks she'll look bad or something, I really don't know. I might get her to go to K-con with me next year. And if I'm REALLY lucky, she'll cosplay with me. Lol. :D

Sounds like an interesting little event. I might see if I can come. :) Though college is starting up around than, so I'm not positive if I'll be able to show up or not.

But if so, I will indeed come in costume. Gihren Zabi, to be exact.

Do you guys have any ages you'd rather not show up? Like people too young or too old? I'm 22, so I thought I should make sure... :o

Alrighty, I just wanted to make sure (about the age thing). :)

Anywoo, I'm going to try to make it. But college starts up a day or two after, and things get fairly hectic around than (gotta get books, supplies, finish up my schedule, get things ready, ect.) so I'm not positive if I'll be able to. And not to mention my friggin' horrible memory. I'm serious-- I can't even remember what I had for dinner last night! >_<;;
'Course, if I do make it I will bring a gift-- my presence! :D

There's also a meet-up from the Voice Actor's Alliance forum in Portland on the same day, and thought maybe I could hit both... depending on the times. XD

Since past experience has clued me in on this, I figured it'd be better to announce my intentions rather than just showing up. So, yeah, I haven't had time to read the entire thread, but I'll be free on Sept. 20th and can come in costume. :) My real name is Steve and I will probably wear my Link costume.

A warning, though: if it starts to rain (even a sprinkle), I'll have to ditch, at least long enough to remove the leather portions of my costume.  Hence, what I wear (and perhaps even whether I come) will be highly dependent on the expected weather.

The extended forecast doesn't have any solid predictions for the 20th yet, but the week preceding the 15th shows as completely sunny. Of course, I know no one's going to want to go on a picnic when it looks like it's going to pour on us, so we'll see. :)

Can I assume photo ops will be on the "to-do" list? Outdoors is such a better place to take pictures than the inside of a hotel.
