That sounds yuriliciously delightful! I'll definitely wear my Kyonko on Monday for you my dear  Wink

I'm quite saddened right now. Seven Seas, a manga publisher that brings much yuri to our American shores is indefinitely suspending most of the manga and light novels in their "Strawberry" line, one that is primarily yuri. It's disheartening that they're already running into financial issues, Seven Seas consistently put out high quality books and there were many series from them that I wanted t check out.

Whoo, Monday it is! Time to touch up my Mikuru costume. =D

and yeah, it's too bad about Seven Seas. Makes me feel rather bad about reading a few of their manga in the bookstore rather than buying them...XD Lately I've tried to actually buy more of my manga and anime, but getting the extra money can be difficult.

To all the KCers that have already experienced the delight of KC, how much yuri merchandise is there usually, if any? Yuri junk would make my heart, oh-so happy Wink
There isn't much - of course there's your usual manga/anime DVDs, but a large majority of the merchandise at the con in the past has been primarily for popular series: Naruto, Bleach, Final Fantasty, etc. Perhaps there'll be some yuri doujinshi around, but I don't know much about the doujin selection at KC.

Thanks for the input! I'll look that up when I have time.  Smiley  And I'm really glad I now have one for reference to watch <3333 Again, thanks!
No problem, I hope you like it. :D It starts out a little weird but gets to be awesome.

Yuri huh? Well, I go to the cons cross-playing and my wife dresses up. Sakuracon 08 I went as Rinoa and she went as Yuna. No one came up to the forums with pictures of me, which was very disappointing. so if you must have something yuri-like, me and my wife could pose for some pix...
Sticks and stones may break my bones but whips and chains excite me...so tie me up and throw me down and show me that you like me...

Good news - I just read that the Strawberry Line was in fact not cancelled. Rejoice! :D Let's just hope that's true, haha.

That will be much appreciated.
Yuri fanfiction? Or one less obnoxious yuri paddler?  ;D

Well it depends. She wouldn't hit you without permission but you had the option of hard/soft core.Being my idiot Renji-cosplaying self I told her to 'bring it. It hurt bad >_< Which surprised the hell out of me.

I actually think it was because I had done so much acting that weekend I'd had it in my head that the physical pain was imaginary too.

That is super duper uber intense. My cockiness might potentially lead me to bight off more than I can chew too  ;)

I don't have that much money to spend on animu goods either, but I think all is good as long as you're supporting the industry in some way :)

Yuri Doujin would be cool, so long as it wasn't naughty NAUGHTY yuri  :D

Jeez, there's someone who's a tad touchy on Yaoi vs. Yuri here.

But anyway, have any of you watched Uta~Kata? It's not necessarily Yuri, but it has to do with girls love, and it's a Magical Girl series.
It's actually kind of depressing and dark, but it has a good story line, and for people who like boy/boy, there's also light boy love, too. Although it mostly focuses on the two girls.
It's a really good Anime, one of my favorite actually, and I'm pretty much indifferent about Yaoi/Yuri/Het genre. I could care less, as long as there's a story, a relationship between the two, and a strong cast of characters, then I'm good.

I'm sorry if I came across brashly to you. It all boils down to how the relationship is crafted for me to enjoy it, and I appreciate yaoi and het as well, but I simply prefer girl x girl love. I didnt mean to ruffle your feathers ;)

I haven't wtched Uta~Kata but it sounds like my cup of tea. Has it been released in R1?

The fanfics of course, but the other as well.

You should make some yuri fics too! The more lady lovin, the better ;D

I should. I have a thing for Domino/Sabrina from Pokemon, but the problem is that in the canon where Sabrina is a Rocket, Domino doesn't exist. And in the canon where Domino exists, Sabrina's just a lone psycho.

Maybe Erika/Kaede. At least they *know* each other...and Erika is so in love with Kaede, seriously.

Erm, no, I wasn't referring to you, but it's alright. XD
And I'm not really sure. A friend of mine downloaded it and burned it to CD's for me; you could probably find it online.

They meant me obviously. They always mean me. Everywhere I go I'm just the bitch. Yup, completely ignore ALL the good/naturals things I say but when it comes down to the negative oh THAT gets attention.

This is the last time I'm saying it; I don't care about Yaoi vs Yuri itself. I really couldn't care less. It's just  porn. What I hate is dishonesty, a complete lack of integrity and false pretenses.

Shh, calm down.
For someone with good views, you're awfully negative about things.
Instead of trying to state a point in a rude way, try a more polite way.
That way, you won't come off as someone constantly on the rag.

I'm not a negative person. I'm really quite positive actually.

You just caught me in a REALLY piss-poor mood. Ironically because I'm so inexplicable frustrated with everyone completely ignoring me until I get pissed off. Thus...making it seem like I'm always that way.

Ehe.. but that's neither here nor there. I think I spotted a bit of a compliment in there somewhere. Thanks.. I think.

That's because people like to continually poke at others until they snap.
But if you don't get angry, then most of the time they feel like idiots.
As fun as it might be to get someone angry, people are generally more understandable when they keep calm and explain things in a well kept manner.
That way, you usually get more people to see where you're coming from, that, and they won't snap back.

But anyway, Yuri, Yaoi, Het; it doesn't matter to me, just as long as the stories good.

I'm sorry about that, most things aren't obvious to me  :D

As for everthing else, I'm quite apologetic if you feel you've been ignored. I thought that I was responding to you in a decently polite manner, but I suppose I rubbed off on you the wrong way. You obviously feel quite strongly that all Yuri and Yaoi is nothing but senseless porn. I disagree, so of course I combated your point, if you expected everyone to agree with you, then I must say that that's your bad, since no one shares the same opinion.

Yuri, het, yaoi- they all involve love in some shape or form. So let's respect and love each other here  :)

Loveless is a drag. It's a pretty depressing story; I bought it back in summer of '05 off of ebay for 7 bucks. Talk about depression. ~ ~
But it was a good Anime, I liked it, regardless of how popular it is today.
Kouya and Yamato were really cute.

Not like that. It isn't as though I respond so easily to taunts/flames more like..

Me: Oh yea I saw that anime and it was really good. What do you guys think?
 * Crickets*
Me: Oh I'll join your photoshoot. I'm going as this person.
*Crickets*
Me:  I'm trying out for this part in a Pheonix Wright dub. It's a lot fun. Anyone else want to try?
*Crickets*
Me: Sorry I was away for so long. I had some minor surgery  but I'm all better now. So what'd I miss?
THEN someone responds: We don't want to hear about it you attention wh**e

That kinda thing.

Aaanywho that's exactly why I don't like het or Yuri. I can tolerate Yuri, but Het is absolutely out of the question. I find that most jsut ..nasty.
Most of the time it's just..disgusting. They almost always use derogative words instead of proper terms. It's crude, it's degrading exc.

My friend once asked me, seriously, why I like Yaoi so much but will 'read Yuri before het' I told him because there are no gender roles, no control, or dominating issue between genders. I think that's, at least, sub consciously why a  lot of girls/women like yaoi that and for the same reason.

They meant me obviously.
I'm sorry about that, most things aren't obvious to me  :D

Don't feel bad at all. As I said you just caught me in a bad mood. It had nothing to do with this thread.

Actually, you misunderstood. It is porn, and I like porn. I mean that it is 'just porn' in that it isn't worth keeping up an epic argument over.

I like Loveless.I don't mind depressing. It's better than overly sugary sweet fluff. I really don't like fluff. i had no idea there was an anime though. I want to fidn it now.

That is another thing about yaoi and yuri though. Nearly all shonen ai or yaoi have some yuri or at least the 'hot female friend' in yuri, chya, good luck even seeing a man. If you go on a Yaoi forum full of women and bring up Yuri 99% of the time, their cool with it. Bring up yaoi on an yuri or all male and you'd better expect to get your ass flamed the hell out of there.

I probably wouldn't have any issue at all if everyone could just be a little more tolerant all across the board.

The problem is that a lot of yaoi (and yuri to a lesser extent) relies on gender roles. When was the last time you saw two macho men in a relationship in one of those series?

And het doesn't *have* to be stereotypical. Even then, you have to consider the characters--is the author forcing them into these roles or does it seem like they'd naturally be that way? And even if the man is dominant in het, it may not be because he's a man, it could just be that's the way that specific relationship works.

As far as Het goes, I;m not even going to argue that at all. Not because I think I'm 'right' I'm just REALLY turned off by it. Even if the woman is dominent, i still don't like it and can say with confidence that i never will.

I guess I shouldn't say gender 'roles' just gender. I mean with Yuri/Yaoi it's just one gender. I don't see it as 'which one is  playing the male/female?'  I see it as 'which dominant and which is submissive.'?

Personally I love both Yuri and Yaoi. I'm a lesbian so the former is a given. Yaoi has a much bigger fan base so I can feed my habit. Sadly, there is very little true yuri. Some of the story lines I have seen are rather...corny. They usually involve school girls and everything is cute-sy and romantically all that happens is like a kiss. To the other extreme, all that is offered is Hentai with women who look grotesquly unreal (with what I call lemon breasts).

I want real women, with a real plot and story line, with real romance.

If anyone would want to share any titles that qualify as such...they would be gratefully accepted!
