An AMV board anyone?
« on: June 12, 2008, 10:33:11 am »
I was just thinking about it, and I think AMV's eed their own board.  It dosen't have a spot besides a corner of contests, but people don't just make amv's for a contest, but just for fun.
Karaoke has a forum, so does gameing and cosplay.

What does evey one think? k-con has a good chunk of peeps into amv's

I'd say it sounds like a really good idea (because it doesn't really fall into the "Fan Creations" category much either).

I worry that the section won't see very many visitors or posters, considering that the current number of AMV threads can be counted on two hands. Are most people who go to Kumoricon not that interested in the discussion of AMVs? Sure, most people like watching them. But those who would really benefit from an AMV section would be those who create them, and it doesn't seem like many of K-Con's forum users do. I'm definitely all for having an AMV section made, don't get me wrong. I just want it to get used.

Although, I do think that having a section might make AMV creators more inclined to post. I know I was reluctant to get into the forum because it lacked a section for me to initially gravitate towards. :P Often times, I find myself hesitant to make a thread relating to AMVs in the Fan Creations section or even the Contests section because I worry it will be drowned out by more frequently visited threads.

I brought it up on the Suggestions/Complains section. Hopefully someone with the power to make changes is listening. ;)

I just talked to our vice con chair and she'll talk with our publicity manager (he's in charge of web stuff as well) and we will see about getting an AMV channel up and going.  It would also be handy for Guy so he has a specific spot for posting rules and any other comments he can think of.

I think this would be great. I any case, I imagine that no matter how many threads grow there, there will eventually evolve a kind of top-5 or top-7 topics. I'd guess that the heaviest traffic would be on:

- tips and tricks for software and codecs,
- ideas and suggestions for pairings of anime and audio,
- possibly a multi-editor project as a center of information for the participants
- download links for contest & show videos (after these events)

That plus 20 other natterings...

Excellent use of "natterings." Well done, lad.
