I agree with this, but after having spent two hours talking with our Facilities Liaison today, please have some patience.  This situation is not his fault, we are having problems securing a location due to the fact that everywhere we've tried so far is booked.  I am working with him to get us a good location.  If you do have questions or concerns, please remember we are only human and be nice to us.

Well, I just sent a response to (ARGH!  I forgot who it was), asking about Clark College hosting it once more.  To sum it up, my response was a YES.

Don't worry vampirek, you aren't the only one.

Just wait for someone to change the front page, until then it's up in the air.

I second Tom's thought, just wait until we have confirmation.
*edit*
I just spoke with our Facilities Liaison and although he is waiting for *official* word from Clark College, set your plans for going to Vancouver.  Also, it looks like after June, we may be at the hotel meetings-wise for the rest of the summer.  Again, this is unofficial, but most likely.

from what I gathered we've tried most every location that has had us in the past and most of them will not take us for that day. Eugene has extremely limited options so unless we can get something like the DIVA center secured the ability to go to Eugene is very slim. Next year I would like to see our Eugene meeting moved up to around March when gas prices are still low so people have the financial ability to head out that far since most of the kcon pack live up towards the portland area.

*hopes for confirmation because she needs to call home and have one of her coworkers request off days for her*

What sort of content are we figuring on discussing at this next meeting?  Whether I come or not is a two-variable function of proximity and relevance.

You guys didn't like PSU for the meeting space, you liked playing Rock Band.

The room we had last time would have been OK if it had AIR, like air conditioning or at least some fans.

Now, don't forget about Skype people! You really don't have to spend much money on gas if you have a microphone and speakers for your computer. You don't even have to organize a group since we've had so few people online in the past.

I'm tempted to hold a General Meeting Party one of these days, but I will have Pocky Club announcements at the June meeting so I have to be present.

I might've asked you to do this before and spaced it, but I really am that bad at learning technology (no really. no REALLY). so, if you (Tom) or anyone could please PM me details on how to put skype on a computer and how to call in with it, just in case....yah.

no idea where Clark is btw.

OK...so I've never used Skype, so hopefully somebody else will help.

First, get headphones/speakers and a microphone for your computer.

Second, go here and download the program.
http://skype.com/download/skype/windows/

After the installation of the program I don't know. I've never found our ventrillo headset to try it out.

Hey, I know this is a last minute thing, but could someone bring a Portland-area phone book?  I think it'd be a good idea to try to find as many places as possible for asking for donations to the auction.

Ditto to that! It's kinda like being there, but not being there.  :P

Look forward to July's meeting- though it seems that it is planned the same day as the swing dance. Despite that, it will be cool to see the hotel (I for one, having never been there before.)

That's intentional--the dance starts an hour after the meeting ends, and the locations of each are less than a mile apart.

Thanks for getting the video links up!

Now we just need to find a stable system we can dedicate to Skype (which was our downfall this session - gomen).

With the problems you've all had with skype, have you considered using ventrilo?  I've made my server information available for convention use before.  It's probably lower quality than skype from what I've heard, but it can hold a lot of people on one server, and can even be used easily by Mac users.

In this case it was actually a problem with the speaker device (the "speaker" part of it worked but it indicated its microphone was disabled and we had no idea how to enable it), and not Skype itself. Really we are just going to have to test it much more carefully prior to the meeting and that will be our basic strategy to be sure everything is working. :)

However, it would probably be a good idea to consider Ventrilo. It looks like it's available for Windows, Mac, and Linux, which is a plus (widest platform support is important). We'd need to look into it further to see if it's a good idea.
