Taking Pictures...
« on: April 21, 2008, 08:23:00 pm »
As I go to more and more cons, I get better and better at handling my crappy little camera X-x

But still I get annoyed when I come home... There are so many good shots that I pass up...

A lot of times I know a really great pose that the cosplayer could do, but I'm always really shy to ask them D: And usually people are really busy or new to dynamic poses or... grah. (I also feel like I might look too 'wannabe' because my camera is so cheap and only has lol 2megapixels.)
Half of my pictures end up just being the cosplayer standing there plainly, with a crowd or a sign, or something misplaced in the background.

Which side of the lens are you usually on? Where do you hope to be, and do you ever get too shy to pose or ask for a good shot you have in mind? =w=

*HOPES THIS IS IN THE RIGHT SECTION? O_o;*

I'm usually the one taking pictures, cos I didn't really cosplay last year (which was my first year). But I do like taking pictures of people! And I hope lots of people will take pictures of me!

I like taking pictures and being photographed. I always seem to have my picture taken a lot more than I take pictures, and that is because I generally just forget my camera in the room so often, unfortunately. I do love taking pics though, darn my bad memory, heh.

I think I take more pics than have pics taken of me, but that's cuz I don't usually do really popular characters. My friends do though, so sometimes I end up sneaking into their pics. XD

I usually don't pose cuz I just don't think about it. Sometimes I try to think of a pose to use everytime, but I usually forget. XD I say if you have a cool pose you want to get a pic of, you should ask. If they say no, then oh well, at least you'll get a pic period. ^^ I usually don't ask for poses, but that's cuz my group is usually in a hurry or I don't want to waste time if the person I'm taking a pic of is in a hurry too. : P

I'm pretty shy about asking for pics. I have to force myself to do it. Sometimes I'll pass up a good character because I'll let a little self-doubt get into my mind. "What if they think I'm weird?!" I ask myself.. but then I remember I'm at an anime convention: everyone is weird. ^_^  But by then it's too late.

I take lots of pictures, but that's partly because I've been helping with the hall cosplay contest. When I first started going to conventions I'd only stop people for pictures half the time. A couple times I actually followed cosplayers until OTHER people asked them to stop for a picture.  :-[

Most people in costume LOVE to have their picture taken, in the hopes of seeing it online later. So no matter how lame you think your camera is, post pictures online after the con for all to see. It is greatly appreciated.

Great questions!

RE: Being shy - I wouldn't call him shy, but one of the quietest guys I've encountered at cons in Eurobeat King, the guy who posts 1000s of pics on Cosplay.com. You can always try a few times asking people "can you do this pose" and show them something you think would look really cool. If it doesn't work out, you can stop asking. If it does, you'll have better pics! I'm sure most cosplayers want to look good. Just be sure to say thank you and smile and bow ^_^

I'm shy when I see a great costume I don't recognize and have to say "uh.. who are you cosplaying?" (there are tons of characters I don't know.)

Another thing I have found is to take pics of EVERYONE and post them quickly after the con. You will be everyone's friend.

I LIVE off taking random pictures of people! They're happy to do it, and I've never had one turn me down yet.

I'm gonna try and get a Rock Band group together for each con ^^  Hmm..I've had an Inuyasha with his sword to Pikachu's throat. I saw a Crono and Ayla getting a drink at a cafe, so I had them sit on the floor for a second and pretend they were in the drinking game in Chrono Trigger. One of my favorites is when I found a Naraku sitting against the wall because he was tired, so I had my friend (Wolfwood) let him borrow a fake cigarette and then took his picture. OMG!
This was just during Sak this year. Finally, try and get a 5 or better digital camera. And always show them the picture after you take it!

I love to take pictures of people! I think usually all of them pose : l
I can't keep track of how many people take pictures of me, every time I turn around someone wants to take a picture O.O I thought I might go blind from all the flashes.
But just ask em! people love it when you tell them to do a certain pose! xD
