Gaming Accomplishments
« on: December 29, 2007, 05:56:48 pm »
Done anything special in any games lately?  Tell us about them!

I'm pretty happy about a few things:
My 1.31 million on Bubble Bobble made me feel content
1.5 million on 1943 wasn't shabby either (1 credit)
I'm working on my Joust skills, but I pulled 275k on an official cabinet a couple weeks ago.
I've also gotten 3 new AA's and 5 new A's on BeatMania II DX; among the AA's is Mobo*Moga L7, which is my hardest AA to date.

It was either Sonic 3 or Sonic and Knuckles, but I beat it with my friend on our first try in 4 hours.
Actually completing my Pokedex on Pokemon Red.

Not lately, but I've done the following, which I think are at least a bit significant:

Contra (NES): Completed without losing a life
Sonic the Hedgehog (Genesis): Completed acquiring all chaos emeralds
Bust-A-Move Again (Neo Geo): Completed without continuing
Time Crisis (arcade): Completed without losing a life; best time: ~10:56 (briefly held top score on the machine at my local arcade); getting two 1-ups in the same game (one of these acquired in stage 1, the other in stage 3)
Time Crisis 2 (arcade): Completed without continuing
Crisis Zone (arcade): Completed without continuing
Silent Scope (arcade): Completed without continuing

I've gotten pretty far without continuing in Bubble Bobble for the NES, but forgot which level. I only ever played this in the arcade once (the play mechanics are significantly different), and then the machine disappeared. However, I did some research and found that the PS2 game Taito Legends contains Bubble Bobble as one of its 29 games, I believe the arcade version (emulated). I'll get this eventually.

I'm going to try to get a legit rom for Bubble Bobble.

My arcade record is stage 43, I think.  32 w/o dying at all.

Arcade today though which means I should have some scores to share.

My high score board on Bubble Bobble is now all over 1 million. (AKA I've gotten over 1 million 5 times on MAME on my home computer.)

The high score is still 1.31 Million.  Highest stage on 1 credit is still 43.

I died on stage 19 on a run earlier because my alt button wasn't responding (I have alt as jump, and I got stuck in a hole and died because Bub wasn't jumping).  I wound up with just under 1.1 million, so I probably would have gotten over 1.5 Mil if not for that one little slip-up.  Maybe higher.

33 Greats on Broken my heart heavy so that means AA~
I also managed to get to stage 2 on Time Crisis 4 while a little kid was tapping me on the back saying "Isitmuhturnyet? Isitmuhturnyet?" I say it's an accomplishment because the whole time I wanted to punch him in the face.

So what the hell do I have on Broken My Heart?!
I'll have to stop by the Clackamas TC and play it after school on Monday.

Unlocked all of the Super Smash Bros. Brawl characters, although it wasn't as difficult as it could have been.

Beat Crysis with an average frame rate of about 30fps (beating Crysis is difficult, but RUNNING Crysis is a completely different story all together).

Unlocked all the songs in Guitar Hero III, but still can't play with the orange fret.

Well...back in the days of Mario 3, I figured out a cheat for it all by myself. I could never beat one of the World 8 levels, so I did a trick with the Warp Whistles and the P-Wing...and I beat the game a few hours later!

Hmm. Over the span of four generations, I've caught four shiny Pokémon (five if you count the plot-standard Red Gyarados)--a gold Magikarp (in Gold, so I never evolved it since I'd just have another reddy), a purple Wurmple, a green Zubat, and a green Machoke.

The last two are on my Pearl game, and at the time I'd logged very little time on it. Compare with Sapphire, where I've played it for over 600 hours and have yet to even *see* a shiny.

And if none of that shiny crap impresses you, there's about a one in 8100 chance of seeing an alternately colored pokémon. Catching it can be hard if you're not prepared for it (it's the same as other pokes of the same type, but you may not be looking to capture anything and thereby have an uber-powerful party or something)

i have a few things to be proud of. first of all i have all platinum medals on links crossbow training. second, i am playing DDR on heavy now, i haven't even been playing for 6 months. and then there's my super smash bros. accomplishment. i beat 3 level 9's with Link. just barely though...it wasn't skill so much as luck and Ike's and Kirby's AI failing at life. and i pretty much rock the casbah with Link...

I FC'd Through The Fire And Flames on GH3......OK not really, I can't evcen beat the intro....but I have passed 3 8-foots in DDR. Heaven is a '57....whatever, and.........well I don't remember the other ones right off the top of my head but still. And I can almost beat Tsugaru, but not Apple Mix.........
Dude, that song is HARD.  It's the only 8 that I have trouble full comboing, unless you count Gradius Cyber (totally a hard 9 NOT an 8).  What mix?

I was playing Yahtzee, and was on my last turn, hoping for at least three 4s. Ten points was all I needed to get that bonus.

First roll... No 4s.
Second roll... No 4s. Not even one.
LAST ROLL... NO 4s WHATSOEVER!

Found an arcade cabinet with Bubble Bobble on it at a Round Table Pizza.

First try on it, I got 658k (stage 31).  The high score was 660k (stage 32).

I wanted to kill myself with a gun and some bullets. :[

But, it was my first time ever playing the US version of bubble bobble, which is surprisingly MUCH MUCH HARDER than the Japanese version because it isn't nearly as glitchy, so 658k was a decent score.

It's in Oak Grove, OR, just off of McLoughlin Boulevard.  I'm not sure of the exact address.  It's a multi-game cabinet that cuts off 3 pixels on the left side and 2 on the right, but otherwise it plays like the real deal and the buttons are good.

If you're going to be in Portland any time soon, I might be able to show you where to find it if I'm free.

Hahaha yeah. It's hard to play on ninja mode (aka dark) cos you have to rely on the Japanese that's scrolling on the bottom of the track (cos it tells you what kind of beat/note) you're suppose to play. I can read it...just can't process it fast enough when I'm playing on muzukashii (hard) mode. But it's fun nonetheless.

GH2: Passed Jordan twice before GH 3 came out on expert
GH3: Passed Through the Fire and Flames and Devil Went Down to Georgia on expert
Diablo 2: Finally got a character passed level 87, one actually made it to 89!
Disgaea (kinda old): made it passed level 200 with a few characters
FF XII: passed the game

That's all I can think of right now

Managed to delete 800 hours of gameplay data on Saturday, which I noticed today.  I think my MHF2 data's backed up on my computer at 380 hours, but 160 hours of MGA and MGA2, 100 hours of MHP2G, 90 hours of FFT, 60 hours of MGSPO+, and 20 hours of Lemmings data are gone.  On top of my 600 hours of Pokemon Sapphire data getting deleted a few weeks ago, I'm an angry Tofu.  I bet my DDRMAX data's corrupted again too.

I'm glad I've still got my THREE DRAGONITES in Pokemon Silver, and as long as my Gauntlet Dark Legacy Save (level 99 Wizard with all stats maxed out) is safe, I'll survive.

It's my own fault; I formatted my memory card to do a modding without taking the time to copy all my folders to my computer.

And I just realised I should still have my Final Fantasy Tactics save fully backed up on my computer, as well as Lemmings and all but 2 quests on MHF2, so all I've really lost are my Metal Gear Ac!d 1 and 2 saves (there goes my completion data :[) and my MGSPO+ save.  I'm not too distraught about anything except the Portable 2nd G save.  I had a full silver rathalos set and had just started to catch up with my MHF2 save.  I guess I'll just wait for Freedom 2nd G to come out and convert my MHF2 save when it does.  :/

I beat the first dungeon of Zelda II: Adventure of Link! Finally! Easily the hardest Zelda game ever released. Also, I beat Castlevania: Symphony of the Night with over 200% and got the best ending, maxed out all my familiars and got the best equipment. Now I need to get Alucard to max level.....

EDIT: Correction, beat Symphony of the Night with over 200% TWICE. No glitches used.

8th on the Tetris at Ground Kontrol.  Around 80k?  tag is CAM if anyone wants to confirm.  Nowhere near the RIDICULOUS high score of 998k though.

Wow, I wish I could get high scores on Tetris. I'm decently good at it but after a few minutes it stacks up faster than Ronald McDonald's cholesterol...

Holy lol bro.  That's crazy.

Managed to win a game of Magic last night with my Thallid deck ending with 122 life.  Won another tonight with 80.  I've won the last 7 games I've played.  My Thallid and Spirit decks have yet to lose since their recent revisions. :D

Elvish Farmer + Sprout Swarm + Night soil

If you have 8 land, you can get 8 to 12 life every turn with that combo. :D

I got about 30 life on the last turn and 50 on the turn prior. :P

Add brown Starly to that list.

Well I decided to post my sliver life gain combo.

Essence Sliver + Magma Sliver + 5 or more slivers = a lot of life, especially if you have the sliver that gives other slivers provoke.

Just so no one has to look up any cards

Essence Sliver: Whenever a sliver deals damage, it's controller gains that much life.
Magma Sliver: All slivers have "tap, target sliver gets +X/+0 until the end of turn, where Xis the number of slivers in play."

So you have about five slivers out, you attack with a 2/2, the person blocks, or doesn't whatever they choose, then you tap the four slivers that aren't attacking a viola! that's 22 life! 47 if you have ten slivers out! I had a lot of slivers and I gained a lot of life lol, I love slivers.

Slivers are stupid.  Worst idea ever. :[

I now have 1st and 3rd on Bubble Bobble at Round Table Pizza in Gladstone, with 1.2mil and 660k respectively.  I also have the highest level, at 39.  I could have broken my personal record of 1.5mil if I could have had another 20 or 30 minutes.  I had to leave with 3 lives left and all three bubble bonuses.

besides zombies they are still my favorite creature type, but if by stupid you mean overpowered then yes of course they are lol.

The only things I honestly don't like about magic is land destruction decks and most of the mirrodin block.

on topic of gaming accomplishments, I got all of the harvest set in Animal Crossing today and I have everything except for the bed in the spooky set.

Finally played Rock Band.  RB2 in fact.  Was able to get 85-96% on most stuff on Medium on drums and 95%-99% on hard on most stuff on Guitar/Bass.  Didn't try singing, but I've played enough singing music games to figure I could probably sing on expert without much effort.

hmm my latest gaming accomplishment is with an older game, I have about half the girls left to max their money out on Dead or Alive Xtreme 2. After that I'm going to get the virtual pictorial mode with Ayane, then think about getting it with other girls.

edit: also I just got a character to level 89 on Diablo 2, never been done by me before. Didn't want to double post.

98.37% on No. 1 Nation (Hard) on ITG2.
97.60% on Hybrid (Hard) on ITG2

Other than that, I pretty much suck at dance games now.
