"One Missed Call" movie meet up january 4th friday
« on: December 17, 2007, 10:08:06 am »
i've had a slow growing obsestion with japanese horror movies
first i'd seen the american remake, end up being confused and finding the movie sucky, then
then i would see the japanese version and leave very confused
and THen i would read the book/manga (if there was one) that it was based on,  and be slightly less confused or no differnce
then i would read the summerys on line to see if i just wasn't 'deep' enought to get the movie
that being said

who wants to go see 'one missed call'? the remake of the japanese horror movie of the same name
who knows it might make sense! heck it mght be good! (even tho they changed the scary ring tone)

i thinking release date which is the 4th of january which i belive is a friday, at centery theaters in beaverton cedar hills crossing
update***

so vallie can go the time is probably around 7-730, theaters still havent put up the time yet grr

I will most definitely be going.

Ok so Jaz, the times are posted now.  At Century, there's going to be a 7:10 showing.

The next one after that is 9:35.

Just to see though, I checked if other theaters near by might have additional time frames.  I don't know if Regal Cinemas is refusing to carry the movie or if they just haven't given their schedule to Fandango yet.  But I don't see any place in Beaverton or Portland showing it but Century theaters.

To those who haven't seen it, I'd advise you not to.

Rent the original and see it in the comforts of your own home.

While the plot was kept more or less in tact, when they "Americanized" it so much that it's insulting to watch.

Even worse, is watching it in the theater with a bunch of morons that need it dumbed down that much.

It was just the worst theater experience I'd ever had in my life.

Yeah, I just got back from seeing it and, while I can say it is a decent movie in itself, it in no way stacks up to the original. I did definitely feel the story being "dumbed down" for the american audiences, unfortunately. While the creepiness factor, I think, was increased, the gore-aspect seemed to decrease majorly. Every death in the original was so brutal, and in the american version they are so much more tame and almost bloodless....a shock to me. I know it isn't necessary, but I'm a gorehound, what can I say.

Overall, I will be sticking with the original.
