Hey, everybody.  I just wanted to get some feedback about the how you enjoyed the video gaming room.  Was there anything that bothered you?  Some genre of game you would have liked to see more of?  Anything that you really liked?  Sound off and we'll try to make it even better next year!

Naruto 2 should've had more space, it was pretty popular. The videogames were the best part of the con tho, in my mind.

Do plan for a bigger space next year, the video game room was quite cramped and hard to navigate in. Also, it was good that you started taking attendance before the tourneys -- wish you would've done that for the Soul Calibur one! Gack...

I didn't like it when the chairs were bolted together, but I can see the necessity to get people through there... meh. Try to get more variety of games on different machine, instead of duplicates of a single -- for example, there were two Smash Bros Melee games going, but one of those could have been something else, like Soul Calibur II... the only one going on Monday was for X-Box which I totally suck at.

That's all I really have to complain about, I guess xD

places are overrun by naruto as is... naruto 2 needs less room!!!
 *grumble* *grumble*

Alright, yeah, there was certainly space issues to deal with, mainly because of most of that room being taken over by the stairs to get into said room.  I dont think there will be much problems with it next year, as long as you have a bigger room.

But, organization needs to be upped some more.  Security was there, but it was pretty lax.  As a simple congoer, even one inclined to help, I was definitely overstepping my boundaries as an attendee; like moving things around, etc.  Even if they needed to be done, there should have been more ability to for someone official to do stuff like that (though I wanna volunteer next con anyway).

One problem was the fact that some TVs were pretty inconsistant.  One TV was muted and the controls locked, another TV had serious problems with brightness, and thats the only 2 problems I really encountered.  Everything else was due to organization issues.  Placement needs to be worked out more.  I dont really know how the game swapping was handled, but there was a big spot of games that were sparcely played, and then a bunch of commonly played games squeezed in with everything else.  Though that wont be much of a problem with a bigger room.

Tourney Problems et all...

Yo....

First off, Sorry about the organizational problems with the tournaments.  They were a bit of a last minute thing and I should have organized them a wee bit better.  Hopefully next year's gaming tournements will run smoother.  Thank you to all those that were a bit more patient went it came to participating.  Next year, I hope to run the tournements again and have a better system set up for it.  It was fun watching people who could game circles around me talk trash and be overall, wonderful sportsmen about winning and losing.

I know i probably hopped on a nerve or two, maybe stepped on a foot and so forth, but all and all, I would have to say that the gaming went exceptionally well.  There were no fights or arguements and no theft.  I tried to not be a prick when it came to getting people to check their bags.  I got a few attitudes, but it was nothing considering the volume of people that I dealt with each day.

As for space, I think it was pretty good.  the major problem wasn't entirely space as it was engineering.  the electrical set up in that room was horrible.  The sub-basement isn't prepared to have 20+ TV's and gaming systems there.  There was not nearly enough electrical outlets so that subtracted the use of 3 TV's and gaming units.  we had the gear, just not the power.  Also realize that the Con was a RAGING success the had the folks up at registration turning people away.

But thank you to all that came and participated...and if you guys were wondering, Marik was the one in Cosplay, I was the one sitting behind the desk checking.  I also spent a fair ammount of time yelling our people's names durning the tournaments (except for the double dash one).  david ran the Double Dash tournament and was the one with computer showing the AMV's with Hellsap on the projector at the end of monday.

all in all, it seems like most people had a pretty alright time in the gaming room. now if you can excuse me, I have 72 hours of DDR music that i must purge from my memory.  if I never hear "its a new record!" again...i can die a happy man...
Some mornings it's not worth chewing through the leather straps.

So, yes, I and my two cohorts were the fellows stuck behind the desk for all 3 days.  ^^;  We're definitely working on getting more space for next year.  If the con grows as much as it did over the last year, it will be absolutely mandatory that we have more space.  Also we're working on having more stuff.  Hopefully a team of people specifically for checking bags.  And if I'm still in charge next year, I'm going to demand electrical diagrams of the space so I can figure out exactly how much equipment can be stuffed into it.

By the way, a huge thank you to all the people who volunteered games and equipment for the room, there's no way we could have done it without you guys.

I have to give a big shout out to the gaming staff. You guys did a great job, given the extremely limited resources that you had.  It takes true dedication to hang out in the gaming area, listening to all that noise, and trying to make sure things run smoothly for the 14+ hours a day each of you put in.

And now to our con goers:

Gaming was really popular... we'll make sure we have a bigger room next time, and enough power drops that we can run all the consoles and TVs we planned.

LAN gaming was an idea for this year, but it sort of got dropped due to lack of staff. So if you want a LAN gaming at the con, and are interested in running it, let us know, and we can make it happen!

How did people like my PS2 Para-Para game?  I'm really wishing I had brought my Japanese Memory card downstairs (I kept forgetting it) so you guys would end up unlocking stuff for me.

I like Rez better myself,  but from what I understand, Para-Para was never taken out!.  (Yes, that was my Pink Japanese PS2.  Who else would have a pink PS2?  And yes, my Game Boy Advance SP is also the same color (from Japan).  There aren't any region issues on the game boy.

I adored it!  I looked like a fool playing, since I'm so bad at ParaPara, but had a lot of fun! (And a pink PS2?  Awesome!)

It's the special Japanese 'Sakura' edition.  They have lots of other colors, even a white ceramic one!
