Help us please pick out anime and manga to carry :)
« on: November 09, 2007, 04:00:29 am »
We at Borderlands Games in Salem, Or. have started carrying anime and manga as well as related accessories, toys and Japanese snacks. We are looking to round out our selection and can use your help. What are the top anime and manga beyond the obvious ones that we should make sure we have in stock? We have the key stuff you'd expect, I like to know the lesser known gems we may have missed.

thanks in advance everyone :)

Well, put out a list on this forum of what you have, that way we can know what you missed and tell you what we think you should have.
Sometimes you just gotta pull out the stops give it your all and know that you will come out the other end alive, well, and ready for the next challenge.
I'm still waiting for the next one.

Mars is an extremely good Manga, that is rarely found in bookstores. I think Uwajimaiya is the only store I've seen that caries it. Whenever I want to buy Manga, I always look for Mars, but no one ever carries it!
Absolute Boyfriend is also another popular one, but there aren't very many volumes out yet.
AX :
- Seras Victoria (Hellsing)
- Axel (Kingdom Hearts II)
- Debut Cosplay

You probally should carry Ah my goddess the manga too, I bet that would sell even if it is a bit old now.
Yaoi crossplay... is actually Yuri.

Initial D, is one you should really consider, especially now that drifting is becoming more popular. Plus its hard to find a good supplier of those animes/mangas cause they are usually sold out at the major book stores.

GTO is another good one, but I would highly recommend the manga over the anime. Its a great comedy.

This is for the manga section.

I can think of 2 new series and a general suggestion.
"Lovely complex" is a relatively new manga from Shoujo Beat.  It's a comedy romance where the main guy, Otani, is about a head shorter than the main girl, Risa.  They usually make insults toward each other such as "Amazon," "Shorty," and so on which cracks up everyone else in the school.  As the story progresses Risa begins to have feelings for Otani but she still sees themselves as the comedy duo of the school.

"King of Thrones" is also new.  There is a deadly virus spreading around the world called the Medusa virus which pretty causes your body to solidify and crumble.  A lottery was done and the chosen people who are infected were sent to an island that was transformed into a research lab to find a cure.  Everyone is put into a cryogenic state until they can find a cure.  The capsules suddenly reopen and everyone sees the whole lab has been covered in thrones and vines with monsters roaming around.  Those that are left must find out what is going on, how long they've been cryogenically frozen, and if there is a cure.  At the same time, they have the Medusa virus to worry about.  A horror/survivor story for mature audiences.

My other general suggestion is recently I noticed some places carrying.... I'm not sure what to call them but they are large books of series that contain 3 volumes of storys.  I've seen some for Negima, Tsubasa, and the one for RayEarth contains the entire series.  And they're cheap too.  I would recommend the RayEarth one just because that's such a old manga and the original individual manga is out of print.

Seconded, Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service

This is a realy good, more mature manga.  I've been getting this one from Amazon, as it's surprisingly hard to find in stores.
