The Slants please! They've just been booked at PMX and Sakuracon so I think it would be a really big honor for them to be invited back next year! :D

I've never bothered even listening to their music but I'm voting for the Slants. They're local and they are a rock band. Having a rock concert at the convention every year with a band as good at self promotion as they are will help a lot. It's like bonus publicity.

I can see a bunch of people getting day passes just for their concert (cheap as most concerts nowadays). I can't see that happening with other guests.


Oh, and so you know, we've never had a guest who I've really been excited about. Nothing personal to Sean and Kirk, they seemed cool when I met them, and I like listening to A-key Kyo, but that's not what i'm at Kumoricon for. So this was sort of an objective decision made in the con's best interest. If you really love these guys though, by all means vote for your hero!

it would probably be difficult to book them, but i would absolutely love to see the pillows. great band.

the other one would definitely have to be cornelius, although cornelius hasn't done any anime themes, he's done some music for a couple ds games and is my favorite japanese musician. plus he puts on the most amazing audio visual show i've ever seen.

i forgot about shonen knife, i'd really enjoy seeing them as well.

so i vote for a new set of musical guests.

I personally don't care for musical guests.  If others want them, that's fine with me, but I could go without them, too.

Kirk Thornton is gonna come back next year, unless he has to work.  I'm pretty sure of it.  Besides, he & I have kinda become friends.

I vote for A-Key Kyo. I've loved seeing them for the past couple years, and as much as I realize there is a time when new things and performers should be introduced, I also kind of feel like A-Key Kyo have become synonymous with Kumoricon (for me). I love the band, and they put on a fun show.

I also think the Slants were great, and they do indeed know how to rock the crowd. I'd vote for both bands, they both fit in the schedule well this year, and I'm sure they could do the same next year. And as far as I know, there aren't any other musical guests banging down the Kcon doors, so to speak. Now if Moi dix Mois were to come through....

Polysics would be amazing!

The problem with booking any musical acts from Japan is that the logistics involved are pretty complicated...its usually extremely expensive to fly out the band, their crew, their staff (not to mention having to rent all of the equipment, lodging, hiring translators, etc).

The nice thing about having an artist/guest from the US is that they are more easy to relate to, will usually be more interactive with everyone attending. There's a few fantastic artists out there, like Peelander-Z (who've played pretty much every other convention in the country) and Notorious MSG that I'd love to see there.
