It wasn't a bad read in my opinion. The title's a little "eh" but other than that, I didn't think it was that bad.

In my opinion, it was quite deriding. But that's just me.

It's a LOT better than last years', that's for sure. I really like it : )

You have to admit, coming from a non-otaku's standpoint, it was pretty nice.

The only quibble I have with this article is that they listed all these types of comics and then said "Girls read girls comics". Like they wouldn't read any other type.

vancuver seems to be nicer about it then portland was o.o anyways im glad he wrote about it a nice view. again as others have pointed out exept for the title. which im sure was not intentonal.

i liked the part about an enthusiastic hug being the preferead greating... i hardly ever hear a glomp discribed that way. ^-^ they ussaly say tackling another peroson and in a rather mean wording >.>

"An enthusiastic embrace appeared to be the preferred greeting for many attendees." Made me laugh alot. An outsiders view of glomping, lol. The artical's got a lot of dry humor if you look in the right places!

Lol, my Mom called us and told us to turn on the news. I thought someone had died or something, and there they were, talking about the con~

I even took a pic of their news van outside the park. They came for th Heritage Festival, but got a lot more than they bargained for!

'The scene might have looked intimidating to some, but it could best be described as a happy hug fest.'

Okay, haha! I loved that sentance! .....Are we inteimidating? 'Cause that's kinda cool. Also, I'm glad they got down SOME reference of 'glomp', even if it was called, 'happy hugs'.

Here are some other media hits:

- http://mechamechamedia.blogspot.com/2007/09/kumoricon-round-3-okay-last-kumoricon.html : This blog accompanies the monthly Mecha Mecha Media column appearing in Portland's Yuuyake Shimbun Japanese newspaper, and the writer says that photos and and article will appear in the Sept and Oct. issues.

- http://72.14.253.104/custom?q=cache:_EVRciPQfcwJ:www.asianreporter.com/paper/2007-34-Aug%252021-Screen-complete.pdf+kumoricon&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=2&gl=us : Asian Reporter (scroll down to see a small pre-convention Kcon article)

One of the many things Kumoricon's Publicity Department (which consists of less than a handful of people) does is work extremely hard to make sure Kcon gets noticed, is portrayed in a good light and serves as a way to educate the general public about what we are and what we do. KOIN, along with upwards of 50 other media sources, were contacted ahead of time and an electornic media kits was set up to help inform and entice crews and reporters to come out. If anyone wants to learn more about working with the media, and help us get noticed even more in 2008, please let me or Jeff the Publicity Director know (publicity@kumoricon.org).

Also, if ANYONE has the KOIN footage on tape, could you please let someone on staff know so we can make a copy? Minutes on the evening news are like gold, and the fact that we scrimped a few of them is AWESOME!!
