This is a question from the less-informed, appologies for my stupidity.

What is Kinokuniya?

8O oh my sweet lord (or should it be daimyo?)...

well... *takes a breath*

kinokuniya, simply put is the greatest place for japanese-related things of the text-and-picture persuasion.. it has virtually manga you could dream of (except for sonic the hedgehog... ) and a little anime selection too (you can request an order last time i checked, and they go english or japanese). they have an ENORMOUS (duh) japanese language section and a fair selection of tokyopop and shueisha manga in english. they also have how-to-draw books for manga/anime style, as well as all the tools you would ever need for creating your own (i bought some - *recommends the copic comic-paper in type b*). they ALSO have goodies like plushies and little nifty things like that... and a kids section. for all of us non-nihongo fluent peeps out there... get the doraemon learn to speak japanese kids book!! its so cool!! and doraemon is neet. they also have manga-coverage magazines like newtype mag. and the like. as well as some FFX-2 figures and pen boards and card games (yugioh, naruto, yu yu hakusho, gundam, etc...) and right next to that are the CD imports. be warned though, cuz all of the cd's (including OST's and FF piano collections and stuff) are like 30 bucks a pop!! not for faint of wallet...

right outside the bookstore door (which is inside uwajimaya, the megamarket) is uwaji's gift section, which has all sorts of cool stuff, like yukatas, paper lanterns, chopsticks, tea/sake sets, and other cool stuff.
a few ailes away is the candy section (i dont need to go into that   )

so that about raps it up.

kinokuniya is my zen spot heaven house.

And for those heading over to Uwajimaya during the convention, or even afterwards, check your con bags, it might save you some money.

And on that note, que the directions!

Driving from the convention, here is thr route to take.

Get onto Naito Parkway South and take the turn onto I-5 south.
Just south of Portland take the Terwiliger exit.
On the off ramp be sure to go to Bertha Blvd; this means staying left at the first divider and going straight at the light.
Bertha Blvd will merge into Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway, go west.
Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway is the road Uwajimaya is on., it will be on the left. I suggest going just past it and using the stop light to turn left into the connected parking lots.
If you get to Target or go under 217 then you've gone too far.

Other directions can be gained from the website.

Now I'm very glad I'm blowing off that D&D game to go to the bag stuffing party!

I see. Please don't hate me. =/

I havn't lived near Beaverton for over seven years (kinda behind on whats where and such).

Hmmm, after reading that I feel I will be coming home with less money than I expected in the first place.

I'm not good with directions, so any of you plan on going there, hit me up and I will gladly do the driving (In my fly Dodge Hemi, woo!), and we can do a carpool.  :D

Ok, I am lying, I just need someone to show me the way, I am worse than Ryoga is with direction, I know where stuff is by places, not road names and such.   :(

Cash works.

So do ATM cards.

Very few banks that will give someone a checking account won't give them plastic that allows them to access it.

No offence, but it sounds like someone might be being a bit stuborn.

See, I happen to belong to one of the banks that *doesn't* give ATM cards.

And I hardly ever get an opportunity to *carry* cash, much less 40-some dollars of it. I'm lucky if I have ten on-hand.

Oki... i noticed that only Driving directions were given so i looked up bus directions... lol...

The bus number is 54. to get to the stop for 54,
Walk south on SW 1ST AVE,
Turn right on SW MARKET ST,
Walk west on SW MARKET ST.
your looking for Market & 2nd (Stop ID 3760).
there will be a blue pole with a white thing comin off of it that should have the # 54 on it... tell the bus driver you want to get off at beaverton-hillsdale and 107th. ask if he can tell you when your there... then when you get off it should be about a 10th of a mile east.

bus fare is $1.60 for the most part... $.60 if your a senior... and $1.00 for kids
it also looks like its $1.65 on weekends... dont know why...
that should work as long as your not on a tight schedule because... i cant guarantee when the bus will come...
if there are anymore bussing questions go to trimet.org... its great... just use the trip planner
the trip planner is a trickey thing... its giving me different bus numbers for the weekends but ultimatley you end up on 54 so those instructions should work... if you are having trouble and its the day of the con... just ask me...  i will be wearing somthing miyazaki and i answer to Daystar, Ed and, Marie. I am 17 and female.

You belong to them? That sounds funny... "GET DOWN AND BEG FOR IT, MEASLY CUSTOMER!" "Please can I have my money now? ;-;"

But anyway, humor aside, why don't you just open another account at a different bank? I've got two bank accounts at two different banks and I can transfer money between them. Or get an entirely different bank? There are other ways you can use to  give yourself more access to buying stuff.

Hi i'm new here and i don't know if i should bring back this topic or not but i love Kinokuniya and i love uwajimaya and that little sushi shop they have there, i don't quite remember what it's call but it's a great little place to eat and hang out.

I go eat there and buy my cd from Kinokuniya almost every other week i get paid, um the main thing i'm trying to say here is if you can fine me in Kumoricon this year then i'll treat you to some fine japanese food at that restaurant and i'll buy you a free cd/manga.

it's cool to go there but it sucks when you go alone so having some new face to go with would be pretty cool.

Take care everyone and i hope to see you all at Kumoricon, this is my first time to an anime convention so i'm looking forward to this very much.

For those who are automotively-impaired or otherwise reliant on public transpoortation...

Take a Westbound MAX Blue or Red Line train from Lloyd Center Station to the Beaverton Transit Center (MAKE SURE THE TRAIN SAYS EITHER BEAVERTON OR HILLSBORO ON THE DESTINATION SIGN).

When you get off the train at the Beaverton Transit center, take Bus #54. It's a little ways past the Target.
