Pocky Club Eugene Trip

OK, I'm starting this thread right now to give us ample time to plan out how people will get there and when we will hold this meeting.

To be clear with everyone this meeting is in no way related to the general meetings and staff. This is just a fun get together meant to give the non-Portlanders in the Club achance to hang ou together.

Step 1: WHEN?
First we need to figure out what weekend would be the best time for us to travel down to Eugene and meet up. I want people to be able to request days off of work and verifiy with me that they'll be there. So we don't end up travelling two hours to be lonely.

My suggestion for when was Easter Weekend, Saturday April 7th.  This is the weekend of Sakuracon so coming to our little party will mean you'll get to have fun with anime fans too!


Step 2: HOW?

Only about a quarter of Pocky Club's members have cars. only a handful of them are active enough to come to our meetings when we're in Portland so who knows who'd be willing to go all the way to Eugene?
As of right now I can see myself, vallie, Kendochris, and Jaz in one car and Mustash in his car, maybe bringing some friends.
I want Neko_Chan to be able to come to the party too but she doesn't seem interested.

I'm hoping to lure the Goggle Squad members who are on good terms with us over the mountains, it's far easier for them to drive to Eugene than any of our other locations. It's just a matter of the pass being open. Think that'll still be a problem in a couple of weeks?

Step 3: WHERE?
For once the where is actually LESS important than everything else. There's plenty of places for a big group to meet up in Eugene if we want to goof off. We can make reservations at a buffet or just go to Gateway mall and then catch a movie! That's why this is the last real step.

Pocky Club of course, but this will be an easy way of me keeping track of people without having to search for your info in the rest of the thread.

Keep in mind, that this weekend is Sakura-Con. So you might have many people unavailable for that reason.

Jeff- I know its Sakuracon. Nobody in Pocky Club goes to Sakuracon.
And if they did then I wouldn't really care if they missed this fun adventure because they got to go to the convention.

As far as I know, I'm working this Saturday, have Sunday off, then have work next Saturday.  Everything work-related after that is a mystery to me.
I am going to Sakuracon too....
Then I'm going on vacation late April..........

But if I can go I will.

Easter Weekend would work for me. I could drive down as many a 3 other people. But my car is 2 door, so the back seats don't have much room. I could also pick up the Eugeneians who need rides once i get there.

I just have to convince my parents to let me drive that far... which shouldn't be much of a problem!  :D

Edit: I just noticed that us "rich" Tigard people are the only ones with cars...

OK, so we're looking for a weekend after the staff retreat now. Luckily I should have plenty of information to disseminate after a weekend with those crazy guys.

We'll just have to wait a little longer to plan the big Pocky Club trip. We can still have fun doing something else.

Heck, just because my plot to get a whole bunch done at once is ruined doesn't mean we can't still have the trip that weekend. I can meet up with Negima at a different time. We just need to verify everything first.

Caro-chan, the meetings are what they always are.  It's Pocky Club getting together to have fun.  Tom's making an effort to make the meeting available to people who can't always drive out to Portland at a moment's notice.  Are we going to be discussing official club business, yes.  Seeing as how something big has happened with the Club officially becoming a part of Kumoricon, he and I want to talk about it with as many of the members as possible.

You're one of the founding members of the club, and you're not just a member of the club, you're our friend.  Club meetings are a flimsy excuse to get all of us together to have fun, as they've always been.  

If you're busy that weekend, that's fine.  Just tell us.  If you for some reason just aren't interested in being a part of Pocky Club, then that's your decision to make.  No one here is kicking you out.  For pete's sake, the conversation started because we were inviting you to come hang out with us.

I just contacted Waffles about this today so hopefully he'll be in touch more in the coming days so we might see him and mushoku at the meeting.

Right now the only drivers are Mustash and kendochris. Both of whom will be driving out from Portland. We'll have three passengers so far and we might pick people up on the way.

Keep in mind that the Club will be getting together at the Uwajimaya Sakurafest later this month. This meeting is mostly for people who

a) Aren't going to Sakuracon
b) Couldn't make it to the last meeting
c) Wont' be at the Sakurafest.

So, it's not a big deal if you can only make one of these events Neko_chan. I know that you wanted to go to the Sakurafest already so we'll see you there. I was touchy because right now there's only one member in Eugene justifying this trip, if we were swinging through Corvallis to pick you up too it would add a level of "justification" to the whole adventure.

Just to give us something to do since the group on this trip rarely sees each other at all, I thought we'd meet at Gateway Mall. We have plenty of choices of food, we can visit the arcade, and then see a movie at the cheap theater!

If there's a better place you guys know of just let me know.


Also, if you want help convincing your parents to let you come then let me know. I've gotten on the phone and spoken with parents before and I can ease their mind about letting kids travel halfway across the state for a day.

Well that'd be good too. The more people we have on this adventure the better. I'm hoping that we can convince Irate Bedlam to come on the trip with so she'd need a ride. Maybe that would clinch the weekend for Nekochan, since she is also going to the Sakurafest in Beaverton 2 weeks later.

Anybody have a website of the Gateway cheap theater? What's it playing this weekend? They're bound to have some of those movies next week.

Well then, we will put the movie to a vote next wednesday, but it's probably going to come down to what time we get there and what isn't crowded.

I must remember to print out new maps soon since they've been updated recently. The only people who should know the convention layout better than Pocky Club are the yojimbo! (who happen to use my maps a lot too).

I hope that everyone can find some other way to still have fun on that day and rest assured I will make sure that our meeting during the Sakurafest at Uwajimaya will be even better.
