Harmony Gold and FUNimation are bringing the latest installment of the Robotech series to the Hollywood Theater in Portland.

http://www.hollywoodtheatre.org/calendar/robotech.html

In the year 2044 AD, the human race has reached out to the stars through the miracle of ROBOTECHNOLOGY, but not without bringing intergalactic war upon the Earth itself.

A heroic cast of returning characters led by SCOTT BERNARD and VINCE GRANT fight to end a decades-long struggle against an enigmatic alien race known as the INVID. However, the mysterious disappearance of the legendary ADMIRAL HUNTER will unfold in a treacherous mystery that could tear apart our young heroes and threaten their very survival!

Featuring the voices of Mark Hamill (Star Wars) and Chase Masterson (Star Trek: Deep Space 9), Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles features cutting edge CG animation beautifully composited with vibrant anime characters.

To purchase tickets, visit www.boxofficetickets.com.

... Methinks Street Team shall begin slightly sooner than originally expected!

I'll swing by there and see if they would mind putting out some fliers or maybe a poster for this run.

I'd go see that!  One question though, it says the film is entirely CG.  Now if it's CG like GiTS, that's one thing, but I detest rendered 3d such as used in Appleseed.  It was like watching someone on playstation for an hour and a half.  /rant

If anybody's going, please post preference for time and I may join you.

Huh.  Meg's S.O. sure looked like a man to me when I met him last week.  I guess you know something I don't!

Rian is a dude. It was a joke. He's the main man here on the forums so I thought i'd poke at him a bit. You know, try and get a response?
Ah well, guess he's busy.

The movie was awesome, totally the next step in Robotech. I really hope it does well enough that someobody picks it up for a series. If you get to watch it (or buy the DVD when it comes out in February)  go in thinking of it as the pilot episode of a new TV series. The CG could be a little more polished when it comes to the veritechs but most of the other ships looked fine. The animation on the characters is drawn, not CG, so you can take comfort in that.

After the screening we had a Q&A session with one of the writers ( a freelancer whose done mostly Nickelodeon cartoons) and Kevin, a marketing exec from Harmony Gold. the first thing out of Kevin's mouth, and his primary concern in this venture, was "Did we rape anyone's childhood?" When no-one spoke up he said it was a job well done then. We did the right thing and talked to them about Kumoricon and while I talked up some of the otaku present (I'm pretty sure we SOLD the guys from Tillamook) Vallie spoke with Kevin. It seems that he's been to Kumoricon and asked us to have Sean talk to him. I'm pretty sure that we've got the contacts we need there if he knows our Relations guy by his first name already.

Ah Tom. Ye be a true Fan Boy! Way to represent.I stopped by on Friday and I guess the manager was not there during the weekend, but I left some posters, fliers, and my contact info, and the girl at the counter said she'd let the manager know. Also asked that they keep us in the loop if they show other anime, japanese, animated etc. stuff.
