Guitar Hero is okay, but I didn't like the selection of songs.  I hope GH2 has a better selection.  Otherwise, I doubt I'll play.

Guiraoo Man is more fun I think.

Well, I was kinda bored when I played, especially since I didn't like too many of the songs to choose from.  That's mainly what my problem was, not a favorite list of songs to play.

I rate Guitar Hero 2 lower than Guitar Hero 1 mainly because GH2's songs just didn't interest me as much.  However, the ones I love in GH2 are really good.  "Sweet Child of Mine," "Freebird," "Message In A Bottle," and a few others.

jea, good call.  GH was better just by a bit.  just can't forget Cowboys From Hell.  GH2 seems to have leaned more towards metal and ROCK.  'Six', 'Message In A Bottle', 'Monkey Wrench', 'Tatooed Love Boys', 'Sweet Child O' Mine', 'Bad Reputation', 'Rock This Town', 'Jessica', 'Psychobilly Freakout', 'Beast and the Harlot', 'Misirlou', 'Raw Dog', 'Arterial Black', and 'Thunderhorse' are teh winners imo.  they're good to rock out to and stuffz, but you know, the classics are best.

i recently got my official wireless guitar, and it's teh rox.  not as good as the SG because the frets on mine are looser and the select+start buttons are not in a cool spot *coughtooclosetotremolocough*. however, i can do flips and tricks + whatnot so, it's good.  Xo

(recently 5* 'Raw Dog' ... working on 'Six' and 'Misirlou'...)

I've never played the first one, but I'm diggin GH2. I love that the songs range from classic rock to some pretty extreme metal (DETHKLOK DETHKLOK DETHKLOK). "Laid to Rest", "Beast and the Harlot", "Rock this Town", "Trogdor", "Thunderhorse". These songs are just fun to play, so yeah, I'm having a blast with the game. I'm looking forward to this game in particular at Kumoricon, at least I'm hoping it will be there for some otaku rock-offs. ^_^

To me, GH and GH2 are about equal in entertainment value. GH2 is certainly a bit harder though. Still, both are fun. Me and my friends go back and forth playing both. Just usually rocking out.

I personally do enjoy GH2 a bit more, because the Multiplayer was ALOT better, and the ability to play Bass or Rhythm guitar. I kinda wish there were alot more guitars to use. I'd like to at least see a Stratocaster in the next one, or maybe a Telecaster. I like both, personally.

I FRICKING LOVE GUITAR HERO!!!!! Both of them rule. I think the first had better songs, but the second one made it a lot more fun to play with the improved hammer-ons and the Pro Face-off mode. I can't wait for GH3! Will they have a Guitar Hero tournament at the con do you think?

Mmmm Guitar Hero...sadly I can only play on easy as I'm right handed and I broke my left hand snowboarding so I can't spread my fingers out as much as needed. So I end up playing with two fingers. I'm going to attempt to do it left-handed though. We'll see....

Yeah, I read about that in Game Informer as well. I'm pretty sure they said it was slated for an '07 release date. So, no two year wait for you. IT should be pretty sweet, but I am looking forward to Guitar Hero Encore: Rock to the 80's. That should be awesome.

wow, stop eating sugar coated sugar you two.

that Stratocaster design looks pretty sweet.  but, the whammy  looks too close to the center.  and i could've gone for an extra DIFFERENT five frets instead of the same five frets.  however, the 5-way makes up for most of that.(as well as the fact that, well, it's modeled after a Stratocaster.)

wao, Rock the 80s comes out a day after my birthday.

Does anybody know what system it is going to be for at the convention??  We only have the PS2 one, so I don't know a lot of the songs on the 360 version.  >_<'

I asked on the tournament thread, but nobody answered yet....was wondering if any of you fine folks knew?

We will definitely have at least a copy of Guitar Hero II for 360 at the con, but no guarantees yet on more than one controller. It's up to Hellsap though on whether it gets used in a tournament.

i don't think there's much difference anyways. i mean, other than just 10 songs.(and the 12 Guitar Hero(first) songs.)  play those songs once or twice and you should be good.  i've done songs by sight-reading before, and i did awesome.(when i didn't have GH at all.(which was like, until the release of the 360 ver.))

i don't the 360 version should be used in the tournament.  well, maybe it can be for people who do better on that one. then the winner of the 360 and PS2 ones can play the same songs an see who scores highest.  'cuz i haven't touched the 360 one in about, since the demo came out... o_O and i hate the X-Plorer model.(rectangular frets, bad whammy wtf?  it's also pretty uncomfortable for me to hold well.)

The Guitar Hero 2 tournament will be held using an Xbox 360. The rules are posted under Gaming on the main page. Learn your songs now, because the difficulty will be HARD. Throughout the con we will have an Xbox 360 with 2 guitar controllers set up on it permanently. The tournament is Monday, so that gives you plenty of time to practice!

I also agree that the GH2 for X360 is retarded compared to the PS2 version, I just know that the con now owns 2 X360 versions of GH2 w/ controller, so thats what we're going to use for the tourney.   It just wouldn't be patriotic to switch after they went ahead and bought them... (though its not like any of us had a say in it...)

Prizes - Of course theres probably more support with the ps2 version, but it doesn't feel right to give out a PS2 game for a prize... its something to think about, but I think the only way to make some people happy is a gift certificate...

Go to Milwaukie Wunderland and play GF11th.  Way better song selection than any of the guitar hero games.  I've tried them, but couldn't get into them because I got tired of playing the same songs over and over again.  Got to Hard and came close to clearing a couple songs on expert in one night of playing though.  If it had a good song selection and a better layout, I'd go for it, but as is, it's not worth it.  IIDX and DDR are too superior. :P

Anyone think I should try to inherit my friend's PS2 guitar hero stuff and get really good at it then dominate hard in '08?  I won't be entering the DDR tourney unless Ethan, 1un4r, MTJ, or someone else who can make me look like I don't even know what I'm doing shows. :P  I might enter if anyone else manages to provide me with a strong challenge, although I think that running a tournament you're playing in seems sketchy.

i hate it, i can barely do it on easy!!!
But i hope there's someone who can do it on expert that would be super fun to watch!!
Than i'd hate them because they can do it on expert but it still would be fun to watch lol

Indeed. I actually adore the song, it is super fun to play! The only way to play it though is against another person, then you don't have to worry about failing and both people can just wail on the notes and have a blast. If I could find someone who wanted to challenge me on expert, I'd give them a run for their money, not in accuracy...but in fun! haha

Someone needs to make a good Emerald Sword edit so that people can struggle with that for the next coupla years.

Well hi there.  I didn't see you this year.  :( (or Mark, or any of those Beaverton kids)

Ya'll need to be there next year. (and play up some didderz)

i was there.  i played some didderz, but then realized i suck with those pads.  (and not to mention the amount of time it's been since i last ddr-ed.)
i went with a new friend this year 'cuz them Beaverton kids couldn't make it.  i hung around GH most of the time.  to anyone who watched GH constantly, i didn't like to play with the strap... and i was short.

I think I'm gonna wind up handling most of the DDR next year.  There should be much better pads next year.

Also, do you get on AIM?  If so, add me.  You should come to GK and play some time.  It's pretty cool.
