Question for you Ouran Cosplayers: where'd you get the patterns for the male uniform costume?  I think it would be great to go around the Con next year as a one of the guys (or only Kyouya if I don't get up the guts to actually get contacts/dare myself to go without glasses). ^.^

I have nearly a year to make a costume, and everyone has to love the Ouran High School uniforms. ^.^

I'm going to try either Kyoya or Haruhi for Sakura con.  And if it works out well, for Kumoricon as well.  My hair color and eye color are set, even hair style's pretty much the same as theirs, but I'm not going to cut my hair, so that means wigs, dang it!

I was Nekozawa on Sunday. -w00- (Had my cloak on during the photoshoot then I took it off due to the heat...it burnsss.) Although I'm not sure on who I'm cosplaying as for next year. It's so far away...I'm thinking about SakuraCon right now.

I'm most likely cosplaying Kyouya for SakuraCon 07 for a day, though. And I hope to bring along a Tamaki and possibly a Haruhi or one of the twins.

I have to be careful when I put the stripe on the tie. I don't want to destory the black tie I have. But then again, I don't mind too much, I can always get another one from Goodwill.

Yay, I have nearly completed my Ouran cosplay! I just have to iron the patch onto my jacket (very nice jacket as well, though it looks a little large on me).

Note to all cosplayers: the stripe on the ties isn't silver, it's a light lavander, a little on the darker purple side.  So be a litle careful with whatever color you choose for painting/sewing onto your black tie.

I'll have pics of my tie posted as soon as I get around to it, I'm thinking of putting a little embroidery onto it when I sew the ribbon onto the tie.  Just to make it seem more 'Ouran'. ^.^

Us Ouran people are way ahead of ourselves. It hasn't even been a month since the con, and we're already planning next year. Wow.... I applaud you all. I have Sakura-Con and Anime Evolution to plan before Kumori-Con and possibly Anime Expo. @.@ Makes my head spin.

But, as for my Mori cosplay. It's coming.

It's easier for some of us to plan this Con, Wind, because, at least in my case, it's pretty much the only Con I got to.  Though I am going to Nan Desu Kan this year (closest to where I live), but I'm only wearing my boring old furisode kimono there.  I'm saving the spectacular stuff for Kumori Con! ^.^

I'm realistic enough that I'm not going end up in a Host costume. I know I won't be crunching my way to bishiness anytime soon and I'm too short for most of them anyway. Seriously, there were crossplaying hosts taller than me last year.

Anyway, I know that all I will have to do to fit in is shave my beard. then I can cosplay as the innkeeper at the mountain village. If someone will promise to help me with makeup I will totally take part.
Of course, we'd need some of you in costumes from those episodes or else it really doesn't make sense.

Now, how many of you Hosts could I convince into delivering Pocky for my club? I see no reason we can't cooperate. I would be happy to make some Origami roses once I find the right pattern. At the very least I want to make some Pocky roses (origami using paper with the pocky box printed on it) for some photos.

You know guys, if you can get a full cast in a matching set of theme costumes (the normal uniforms would work too, of course) we could probably get an actual room for you guys from Programming.

Last year we had the Gothic-Lolita teaparty and I don't see any reason why the Host Club couldn't have an event that was similar. In fact.....

If I can get a lovely costume together to play Haruhi's father then I think I could help arrange the whole thing. Imagine, you have a bunch of chairs and tables set up around the room with a line of ladies outside. the doors creak open to reveal the Hosts standing in the middle of the room just waiting to greet them!

Or if we had enough people, (and we might the way MrMustach is talking) we could have two groups, one in the jackets, one in another kind of costume. Then they could be behind curtains until the ladies are seated. We reveal them seperately and with a flourish of music!

Cookies and cakes from the store would be served, with whatever beverages we can safely warm and prepare inthe panel room. Oh what a lovely time!

Would anyone be allowed in, or would they HAVE to be cosplaying? Because even if it was to see the hosts, there's no way in HELL that you're getting me into a bright yellow dress!!

Well, the idea was that the Hosts would be cosplaying as their characters and serving snacks and "tea" to the people that come to the event. It wouldn't really be a panel but it would take one of the spots on the schedule and would be run by people other than official kumoricon staff, like panels usually are.

To visit and swoon in front of the charming gentlemen of the Host club you would just need to be at the convention. No costumes required.

I'm going to be starting some threads on the forum tonight when I have time to sit and write things up properly (most of my posts are made at work, when I should be working).

I'll make sure that I make a plushy thread.

The best kind of Hunny would be one that was poseable and could stand on it's own. This means it would need wire inside, and possibly little shoes. If it had mitten hands (a thumb and a big mitt of fingers) then it could be posed holding things, like a specially prepared plate of cake or a teacup. I think that the best p[ossible version would have velcro on the head so that we could change the face. We could have a sort of Mr Potato Head thing with velcro so we could put different eyes on him or a different mouth. that way we could have like; scary morning Hunny and cheerful Hunny and mouthfull of cake Hunny and pouty Hunny all in the same plushy. It sounds complicated but the face thing could be accomplished with good paper and some cheap velcro strips. The hard part is building a poseable pluch kid of the proper size.

However, I must admit that it would be worth any money I spent to be the guy with the poseable Hunny Plushy. OK that sounded creepy, but I would definitely pay for something like this to be built. It'd be better then finding one of those big scary boy dolls like "My Buddy" and drewwing him up.

I'm going to make mine. I haven't even picked out fabric yet so I definitly don't have a pattern. This will be my first time making anything besides a pillow case so... XD Luckily my mom is pretty good as sewing so I'll have some help. :3 Also, would you mind passing on those screenshots? I haven't bothered... err... had time to make any yet.  :wink:

I thought this one was pretty intresting because the gold trim looks like rope. I have some trim exactly like this that I got at Wal Mart. It doesn't look like it'd be too hard to sew on either. It's attached to this ribbon like peice that would easily sew inside so only the rope is visible. :3

For the trim I was thinking of using something like this: http://www.joann.com/catalog.jhtml?CATID=156672&PRODID=115150 See how it has a type of lip coming off of the rope? You could use that to sew it onto the jacket. You can find this type of stuff in the home decor section of JoAnn Fabrics or some other crafty type stores. (Wal-Mart Super Centers usually have a place devoted to sewing as well.) I think it would work pretty well for the trim.

And secondly, thank you. It's really all my mom's work though. (Well I bought the wig but... XD) I just wore it. It was a lot of fun. I hope next time someone compliments me on a cosplay I'll be able to except more of the praise because I'll have made it. Or... At least helped. XD

As for making the patch... I wish you luck! It seems like it would be pretty difficult. Certainly out of my range. And another thing that I've turned to Ebay for... I found a pair of glasses that look just like Chika-kun's! They are discribed as 'stylish' but personally I think they are pretty ugly. XD

Japanese school uniforms were based on German military academy uniforms.  You might try to find a Prussian Cadet jacket pattern or a military cadet pattern with a Prussian collar.  Also try to look for patterns that say Nehru Jacket  (that guy from India who looked like Dr Evil the Beatles tried to copy) or an English fox hunting jacket with out the collar (sears tried to sell Nehru jackets for kids they flopped so they added collars and sold them as hunting jackets) or dare I say search for a boys Japanese school uniform pattern

Sounds good to me. I mean it'd be really good if we could match since we are both doing middle school uniforms and will be the only ones doing so. If my mom would let us meet that is. XD I'll PM you what town I live in so we can see how close we are. (I'd just say it here but I use this username on some other forums. Don't want to give away where I live. )

On another note... I have a jacket that looks a lot like the middle school uniform. And I think that we should definitly use the gold rope type stuff as trim. And... I found a perfect pair of nerdy and ugly Chika-kun glasses on Ebay! X3

The schedule isn't that firm yet unfortunately. Likely we'll end up with something like

10-12am rehearsal

12-2 Ouran

3:00 Cosplay contest.

One of the benefits of staffing and being at the meetings is that you can push for things to be moved in the schedule. I'm sure that if you help wrangle the contestants at the rehearsal then you can budge it one direction or the other.

I for one have been manipulating things so that Pocky Club can have its panel around 4pm on Saturday, which I'm hoping will not be during any other event. I'm pretty sure it will be after the Gothic Lolita Tea party and panel so I can get a couple of my girls back from that.

I don't even want to try and schedule anything at the same time as the cosplay, the only things I know that get scheduled at the same time are some of the video game tournaments.

One of the good things about the convention center for Nekozawa cosplayers is that there aren't as many windowed hallways. Sure one side of the building is basically glass but there's a lot more darkness to hide in.

However when someone kicks the can all of the people are released from jail. The game ends either when the tagger gets everyone in jail or people get bored. XD

The Tea Party will end sometime after the hosts have served all of their lovely ladies and it might move to the park to enjoy some "commoner games". Pocky club will be there arranging some deliveries and deciding who the "Host with the Most" is for the Hall Cosplay contest.
