My take on the games...
« on: September 13, 2006, 12:22:29 am »
alright, i'm gonna slightly complain and/or be nice about the gaming room right now.
*ahem*
Firstly, i think that k-con had a good variety of games in the room.  however, i think the one thing, THE ONE THING, i probably didn't want to see was the few single player games.  i mean, sure they were anime based and cool to watch, but, only one person at a console?  personally, if i wanted to see the game and not play it, i would've gone to GameSpot or something.  now, don't get me wrong, i was watching some of the cool FMA and Sonic action going on, but only when i was waiting to play some GG or DDR.  Para Para is the only exception on my list of 1P games because it's kinda expensive in the first place, and it's really cool to watch. anyways, i just wanna say, i think that people sitting  at consoles = more space to move. (it was kinda crowded, and i think that many people shoved in one room WILL make the room warmer.)
okay, now to stop being stupid.  i really loved this room. it had an abundance of choices, from fighting to simulation, this was great.  when i saw Bubble Bobble on the NES, i thought 'woah, didn't espect that.'  i love that game > <. before i got to K-Con, i was thinkin' 'hmm.. they might have only games like SSBM, Halo, GG, and DDR...'  but then i'm like O_O  'sweet'.  good job guys! all the games were excellent!  (yes, i saw those games lined up on that table also.) MY LAST saying of stupidity is... the room was too far from my room and the Vendor's place >  <.

AND i'm very sorry if this belongs in the help, sugg., complaint section (because of my complaints and suggestion), but, really, it kinda makes more sense to put this in gaming... (gomen)

I agree with the whole single player thing. Keep people involved with eachother, you know? Get some multiplayer action up in here!

For the games, I think DDR should have been in a different room.  It was getting pretty hot and smelly in the game room because of that (maybe have some fans positioned next time?).

Games like DDR should probably be in a different area from the regular console gaming.

Or maybe invest in some fans or some sort of ventilation system. Get Red Spice to sponsor the event and hand out free sticks of deoderant or something.

yeah, the Halo2 lan was kinda bad. a little unorganized and a little bad because of the controllers and team setup.  i dunno if DDR could be put anywhere else though...
i think there should've been 4 xboxs hooked up with LAN...

The Halo setup was unorganized through the entire tournament and regular games. First off, people were staying to play more than one game. Organization with turn rotations wasn't done, it just simply wasn't. Unless you tapped someone on the shoulder and asked if you could play next game.

When I was helping out with the Halo section there was more than one xbox hooked up, but only two. We had a third tv that wasn't been used, but we needed a third xbox to make it work.

Next year, we need more organization. Simple enough.

K-con at 2k5 had much more organization for Halo 2.  I wonder what happened this year... :?

it seems as though the games weren't very organized probably because of only about 2-3 staff inside... playing games and watching.  however, there were also about that many staff outside checking badges...
i think ALL the multiplayer games needed organization by rotation.  ('specially SSBM)  GG was okay in terms of rotation when i was there. and so was DDR.

I totally agree on the idea of having the Dance Games (ParaPara, DDR, PIU [which they didn't have there, but they should have] in a different area from the rest of the console gaming; specifically, a thoroughly air conditioned room.  DDR-quality AC is too chilly for most games, but without it, most peoples' game goes down dramatically.  I also think they really need more DDR there; two setups and a Pump setup (if anyone has any CF's they've modded to work with Pump, I'm talking to you).  Most of Sunday after about 4pm, I was little more than the guy who changed the discs for people and hopped on whenever someone gave up on a hard song, 'cause the lines were just too long. :?
Perhaps one setup was enough for 2k4 and 2k3, but as attendance increases, the lines get longer, and I don't think too many of us want to crowd around a 34" waist-high screen and wait 30 minutes so we can get a chance to play 3 songs on a console game.
I've already volunteered to bring my setup for K-con 2007, as long as there'll be room for it.
