Pluto?
« on: August 25, 2006, 11:52:17 pm »
As of yesterday (8/24/06), Pluto's no longer considered a planet, so there are only 8 planets in the solar system now.

On a related note, does that make Sailor Pluto no longer a Sailor Senshi?  Just a thought.

So any thoughts?

Yeah, I heard about this yesterday from someone on Gaia Online.

My first thoughts?

Sailor Pluto has something to say about this!

If they can get rid of pluto....what's going to happen to us?!?! Omg...We will switch titles with the moon and then be blackmailed with lots of tax money to be turned into a planet again! THE HORROR!!

Okay.....I'm done....poor sailor Pluto. Even though sailor Saturn is my favorite. I still feel bad for that wittle gal.
For the love of Reita.......BE A MAN!!!

Appartenly a bunch of scientists decided to better define what a planet is and Pluto didn't fit the description.  Now it's a dwarf planet (officially anyway).

But after hearing about some of this, knowing some of the other "objects" that they've named, and thinking about Sailor Senshi, does this mean there's going to be a Sailor Xena? (sadly, I'm not making up the name)

Of course she's still a senshi.  She exists out of time anyway so as long as someone at some point in history classified it as a planet, she's ok.  ^_^
Take a chance 'cause you might grow

Hahaha! Couldn't you just see a merging of Xena the warrior princess and sailor moon? The show would certainly go up in popularity amongst the lesbian community. Although I find it more entertaining that scientists named some distant rock in space "Xena" Oh that tickles me.

Heehee, sounds like you read the CNN article, too?

Apparently, Pluto's little friend planet that orbit's it isn't a planet, either. And neither is Ceres. And neither is UB313, that planet that they discovered a while back.

I actually didn't know about Ceres until a few days ago.

Why did no one tell me it existed? ;_;

I can't believe those scientists!  Pluto IS a planet and if they don't like it they  can GET OUT (motions with his thumb).

Think about all the text books that needs to be changed.

Actually I heard this change to dwarf planet is only in the English language, who knows if it's even effective in Japan.  But then again I saw an article in another language talking about this subject, so I guess it is or will be world-wide very soon.

I really don't know what Sailor Pluto has to worry about. (That would include myself, as I have been a fellow Sailor Pluto cosplayer myself.) I mean, the moon in Sailor MOON doesn't represent a planet either, and she manages just fine. Not to mention Chibi-Chibi, the Stars, and any other entity associated with non-planets. Who said that planets were the only things that mattered out there?

A world without the planet pluto...is a sad world afterall...T_T
Thinking hurts and thoughts dont rhyme.
To those of us who've never tried to find a face behind our lipstick smiles, and as our pretty faces die our broken hearts will wonder why the makeup just won't hide the scars of time.
