...why is this forum called "SNAKES ON A PLANE!!!!!!!!!!11"? And why the "11" at the end? Was that a typo?

Snakes on a Plane, a really amusing looking horror movie coming out soon (Or perhaps already out, not sure...). Basically, the movie created a GIGANTIC amount of hype on the internet on forums and such, so over time the term "Snakes on a plane" has come to describe anything random on the internet. So I guess that's why this area is called that.

Snakes on a plane is the title of a movie that's trying to be serious but the idea seemed so ridiculous that the moment word of it got on the net it became a joke. Now it stands for something that makes no sense whatsoever or when "___(Four letter word here)___ happens."

I'm still trying to figure out the !!!!!11 thing but I think it first started when someone used shift for the "!" then let go while still holding down the "1" button. Soon it became a bit of a joke as well.

Yeah, Snakes on the Plane will hit theaters next Friday here in California, mostly could be said the same for the rest of the country, I'm sure. From my understanding, this is going to be one of those movies that's so stupid everyone just has to see it to believe it. In other words it's going to be more fun to make fun of it than it is to watch it. I highly doubt it's going to win major awards expect it'll probably sweep the "Rasies"

(I probably misspelled it, but the Rasies (think rasberries) is the opposite of the grammies so it's to award the worst movies.)

By the way, last night I saw ads for the movie. It was interesting how they were portraying this movie. They literally said "The summer movie everyone is talking about." Little do they realize we're talking about how ridiculous it looks.

Oh, I know what you're talking about. I can't think of the name myself, but my sister showed it to me, (she loves the POTC movies). I looked at the cover and it took me a while to realize that the women on the cover were women; I though one of them was a girly man.
