When's the dance?

I can only stay at the hotel one night, so I wanted to do it the night of the dance.  Does anyone know what night so I can get rooms?
It doesn't matter whether you win or squelch, but how you play the tuba.

I'm going to have to make you come to my costuming panel!  (not that I have any power over you!  :)  )  It's aimed at larger cosplayers that want to look their best, but anyone without a perfect body should be able to pick up some tips.

One of my proudest moments was seeing how happy a size 24 woman was when she saw how she looked in a Sailor Uranus costume, even when she was next to a size 3 Sailor Neptune.  I worked hard to make her look her best, and she was was wearing white shiny lycra.

As a tip for the dance, be sure to put on lots of deodorant (please!!!).  If you don't, I can promise you that you will create your own little "crowd circle."

(crowd circle = human crop circle.  I just thought of the term)

Was anyone there for our long line of people running through the room?  XD That was the first dance I've ever been to with enough room to do that.  It was fun, we should do it again...

I have SO much love for Man-Faye *^^*  Do not diss the Man-Faye.  He is my secret love >D

Or, uh.. not.  But in any case, it takes a lot of guts to walk around like that, especially because it ISN'T a sailor scout and therefore he can't be called Sailor Bubba.  Not that I don't have admiriation for them, too, but... I like to move it, move it >D

Seriously, anyone, male or female, willing to walk around in a short skirt with unshaven and noticably hairy legs in our society gets my admiration and awe (mostly because I can't do it because my legs are LONG and I can't be bothered to shave, but I also don't have the self-confidence to walk around thus and anyone who has the courage to do it while knowing the taboos is ++shiny in my book =D

XD Yeah.  It is kinda hard to have a con dance without the con.  But in all seriousness, the dance BETTER be on Sunday, because my mom will be real mad about reserving rooms and then not having them the night of the dance.  Eek.  It would make me sad, because I wouldn't be able to stay at the dance for a real real long time.

Well, as PezCat pointed out, it's pretty obvious the dance can't be Friday (or Monday for that matter since the con closes Monday afternoonish). However, I do agree that Saturday probably would have been a better day for the dance. Although it's a holiday on Monday, some people still do have to go to work or classes (like poor lil me since University of Portland doesn't cancel classes for Labor Day :( ) that day, which cuts short how long they can stay up dancing.  Unfortunately, it's already been scheduled, and some people have already made reservations, so it's not fair to change it now. But maybe for future Kumoricon's it could be on Saturday night instead?

Hey, if you want a dance on Friday night then you should shell out the cash for the ballroom and DJ on that night. The con is organized around Sunday, that will be the primary night for the big events. That dance will be held on the night where the MOST people will be there. I can see it on Saturday maybe but not Friday or Monday for sure.

The dance is fun but it's not a priority for me.

scissors + dna = bad things

scirrors + brothers = bad things

genetic bonds = very bad things can happen - example: Zell's post above

Hey, I don't care WHAT that goo is made of... there is no scientific way it can be as bad as the chocolate pudding at NCC, and that was supposedly edible.  That was just the pudding of almighty nastiness right there.  I've never seen a supposedly liquid substance suspended upside-down for a week without moving...

riverspree -

They were SERVING this stuff.  Basically they had two kinds of chocolate pudding that day: normal and bizarre.  The normal stuff was your standard everyday chocolate pudding.  Nothing special or scary about it.  The "bizarre" stuff looked like it was pre-formed into the bowls... it was completely flat, had little pock marks in it that indicated it was less liquid and more solid, and had the little dollop of whipped cream to hide its true nature.  After trying to shake it loose unsucessfully, we (we being myself and Tom the Fanboy) set it upside down in a way where we would see when the pudding finally fell out.  After an hour of it not falling, we determined this had become a scientific endeavor, acquired three more "bizarre puddings" and put them in his dorm room.  This was on a Monday.  By the following Friday, they had STILL not even budged, and were starting to dry out.  We came back after the weekend, and one of the puddings had shrivled and cracked enough to fall out of the bowl, but not as a liquid.  Two of them started growing molds of different colors.  Our hypothesis was then proven correct:  This was not in fact real food.

Not only did we never eat the pudding again, we were only to happy to share our results with fellow students.  After about a week or two, I never saw chocolate pudding at NCC again.

Magnus-

awww... but that means it's the tastiest kind.  Oh well, not like I've always been the healthiest eater!

O.o

After reading that entire rant about pudding, I thank Kami-sama that I have never liked pudding, and thus have never eaten it.

This would explain why my friends always act so bizzarre after consuming the substance everyone refers to as 'pudding' though...

Whatever you do don't be lured in by the so-called "Bubble tea" it has nothing to do with bubbles and everything to do with flavored Tapioca sitting at the bottom of a glass of tea, the grossest thing I've ever ingested(coming from someone who can eat a 7 year old candy cane on a dare that's saying something)

Thats sounds horrible but I have heard of the tapioca pearls...ahkkk! Again its just not normal. Whoever thought this up had a little brother who asked what they were eating....they probably showed them the tapioca and said "uhh ... this!  try it go ahead..." and thus the horror was unleashed....or maybe it was invented by the German Government during World War One after their access to the Bratwurst trees of France was cut off during the Battle of the Marne....according to one website
    ...but we may never know why it was unleashed from the bubble teas of china

Can't argue with that logic...  *is now a believer*

You know, we're discussing the topic shifting in this thread, and in reality, we are so far off course it's scary, since this was originally about the dance party.  But the board would NEVER have a thread that was off-topic, would it?  Nahhhh.... so this must be a conversation about the ongoing battle between chocolate pseudo-pudding and tapioca pudding in a fight over France's bratwurst trees; the result of which could decide the fate of the world!  And the next battle will be... AT THE KUMORICON DANCE HALL!

There's a scary episode for you... Bratwurst Pudding Dance Hall Battle.

8O  Off topic? Indeed it is but we must defend our honors! and the Jello's can't forget the nervous pudding now can we? Besides some people I know could take some dance leasons from the jello and pudding. Of course if Zell and his little group had it their way there would be some sort of pudding break-dancing competition....I can but wonder what that would be like  :?:
On second thought maybe I shouldn't put these ideas out there....

What dance lessons are we going to learn from the jello?!  "Jiggle it just a little bit?"

Suddenly I have this image in my head of dozens of bowls of tapioca and bowls of chocolate pudding dressed up like the guys in the "Beat It" Video and having a gangsta dance-off.  Then Zell dressed up as Michael Jackson coming in and making piece between the two with his mad moonwalking skills.

When's the dance?

I am going to laugh so very hard at the con now if during the dance "Ninja Rap" does indeed get played.  And only us sickos who are participating in this thread will get the joke.

The gloop episode... I had totally forgotten about that one!  I was thinking about the one that was on last night with the partying russian bear.  That bear friggin' ruled.

What the most disturbing part of it may truly be is how many people actually would dance to that song were it played.  It's one of those songs where you can get away with anything, because even if you're really really bad at dancing (like me), no matter what, it looks like you meant to do it, so it's okay.

Then again, I've come to like that song a lot more ever since I got ahold of the AMV for it... Ninja Rap is so much cooler with Naruto in it than Vanilla Ice.

I'm gonna go with yes on that one, but don't quote me on it.  Most of my AMVs actually come when Fanboy Tom visits me (I have a crappy internet connection, so big downloads and my at-home compy don't get along... hence why I do most of my internet stuff at work... like now!), so I got it from him.  But he gets the majority of his stuff from there, so it's a safe bet it's on there.
