Having a dance?
« on: May 25, 2006, 11:37:05 pm »
This will be my first time going to Kumori Con but second time at an anime convention. Sakura Con was so much fun but what I wanted to know was, does Kumori Con have a dance like Sakura did? I've never been to Kumori so I was wondering. I love to dance to techno and Jmusic at sakura and am hoping that Kumori has a dance as well.
(Though it would be nice to meet up with some people if they do have a dance. Last time at Sakura, I headbanged and danced so hard, I had to miss 4 days of school. Ouch!)

We have a Rave every year and we always have a blast.  My friends and I almost always go and we always hook up with other Otaku.  So join us!  Last year we had a bunch of Gothic Lolita and Gackt fans hang out with us.  I got to dance with Moraku and the bisexual Tidus and it was fun!  Hahahaha.  Hey!  It's the bisexual.... artist!  Hahahaha....

*meep*  Good times.

But do join us!  My friends and I are always open to new dancers in our group.  We have a blast.

I am going to the rave. What will you guys be wearing? I want to join your dance group, ecspecially if there were gackt fans! ^_^
Do you guys normally meet up some where?

 Also, I posted this under meet ups, but my friends and I are having a dinner/cosplay party the day before kumori con at 5PM and hanging out while eating and showing our outfits off. We might go to Chang's Mongolian grill since it's only a block away from the hotel. So if you want to go, please tell me!

Are you guys going to have seperate costumes for the dance than your regular cosplay? I'm going in Baby the Stars Shine Bright on Sunday, and I don't want to ruin it dancing. ^_^

Blasphemy! That sentence reeks of blasphemy! 80s music is like, the precursor to techno... It should've been played more!

...What? I'm listening to "You Spend Me Right 'Round" right now. Who needs to wait for the con to have a dance? I'm dancing right now. Okay, just moving my arms and shoulders like an idiot and calling that dancing...

I heard the most awesome techno remix of that a few months ago. :3 They should play that song and people should just spin around in circles... x-x

Since I'm ultimately responsible for what you hear at the dance.  Would you folks mind naming a bunch of music you want to hear?  Please include name of the song, artist and remix if applicable.  If you can list what album the track is from that would be peachy.    I'll pass on your requests to the DJ's.  We should also be able to play some music brought up to the booth throughout the night.  CD’s are preferred but I think we should be able to play MP3’s as well.

Thanks,
Michael

A LOT of TECHNO. That was a big hit at sakura. Plus, it's fun to dance to techno. It's up beat and you can really move. I kept dancing for 4 hours straight. 0_0

I only no a few songs like techno.
Little Butterfly, don't remember artist
Sanstorm, Darude
All around the world, ATC
Barbie Girl
Move your body, don't remember artist
Everytime we touch, Cascada?

We need fun songs!

A lot of up beat anime songs. Like some from saiyuki or others...

Ugghhhh.

If I heard 'Sandstorm' one more time...

I think my head will explode. T_T

I have several CD's worth, and I think it would be good to play stuff people have'nt heard before... Like whenever people hear I like techno/happy hardcore they're like "unst unst unst" or whatever, you know? And like last year it seemed like the DJ just played a song and then palyed a beat over it...

I'll get a list later. But super hardcore/happy hardcore/trance/Eurobeat stuff.... yeah. .-. That's the best.

But im not gonna lie i do like the ddr remix, but it makes me sad that its not in japanese =P
If we are listing songs we would like to hear i could prolly dig through my music files, although my music folder is very biased towards utada hikaru xD

Dude, I didn't know you were a Weezer fan! Vondan: 1; everything in existence, including Vondan: 0

You got a leg up on the pile!

How about a balanced mix of...

American Rock
American Techno
Euro-Techno
J-Rock
J-Pop

Trust me, I like my fair share of techno and I kinda like J-Like Music, but too much of it and no American Rock kills me a little more on the inside.

if there's a lot of electronic music, it'd be good not to hear all the same obnoxious hard trance/ happy hardcore you hear at all the raves anymore that's 150+ bpm. not all of us are gonna be on speed or extasy so it would be good to actually have some music you can dance to without having a seizure, haha.

but most likely they will play what everyone else wants to hear, songs with extra cheese... like sandstorm.... *sigh*

oh well, guess i'll have to suck it up and have fun with it regardless.

=) i'm down for different genres and stuff. and i would love to hear some quality electronic music that has a reasonable tempo and all that jazz. i will probably put together a couple remixes of some anime songs since i've got a couple months to do that, maybe they'll be nice enough to play 'em.  i'm looking forward to it regardless

I have a question, will there be a screen like last year where we can show AMVs that go along with the music? (sailor moon music to a sailor moon AMV for example.) I thought that was cool last year.

You could just as easily play an AMV while people just dance to it's music.

I don't know how that'd work technically though, with the hardware and all.
