So... What are the plans for it this year.  I went up as Pyramid head last year, and I heard rumor that my participation was requested once more.  Could anyone fill me in?  I've been shying away from the anime community lately, so I'm a bit out of the loop.

Awesome!  If things go as I hope they will, I'll be Zelos of Tales of Symphonia that day.

I tried to download the first YouTube video, but AOL kicked me off.  I was able to see about a minute of it, or so.  It said that theirs was yuri & yaoi based.  Are we gonna do that, too?  Or are we gonna do it straight-style (what's that called?)

I'll definently change that this year.
I'm bringing my video camera this year.

I'll have one taoe for each day of the con, plus, a tape for each full event I want to record. The only problem is battery power. I was gonna buy an extra one and charge it in the room and then switch before an event, the only problem with that is the first night of the con I couldnt get a room bookes at the Red Lion.... T.T So I might not beable to record individual events and just record some of it. We'll see.

I didnt see anything about an adult anime dating game on the schedule.
So I'm assuming it will be girls asking guys or the other way around, but no Yaoi/Yuri.... which is kinda sad, cuase those are the best, lol.

No matter how many times I talk about the Anime Dating Game, I love doing it.  ^_^

Last year we DID have a yuri situation.  In one game we had a girl pick between two guys and a girl.  The chooser announced she didn't like men or something along those lines which is why the hosts decided to pick a girl as a contestant.
She won too.  Then again, the one of the other choices was a Kiba cosplayer impersonating "the Governator."  (Which was hilarious XD )

And the year before that we had the Bakazoku do it.  You can probably guess how that went ^_^.  Technically we had a Yaoi situation when Chris was the chooser but he asked a girl to speak for him without the others knowing it was him.

And according to my schedule the Dating Game is on Sunday at 8:00 or 8:30 pm.

Sunday @ 8 or 8:30 pm?  Hmm... well, I made a mistake with some of my previous posts.  Sunday was Zelos, and Saturday was Kusanagi of Blue Seed.

Okay, my computer takes, like, three or four hours to load the first video, so can someone actually type it out for me?

From what I've gathered, it sounds like the Dating Game from the 60's or 70's or whenever.  Do we act like our characters?  (I'd imagine so)  Is this game scripted, or do we actually try to "win"?  If we are trying to "win," what do we win, other than recognition?

Again, I love explaining this. ^_^

The Dating Game is totally random.  There is no script whatsoever.  You can totally act like your character or, like I mentioned before, be your character while impersonating another character.  It's that crazy.

The Dating Game is just a thing to have a good time at.  You're not actually winning anything and you do not have to take the person out on a date.

The chooser asks questions and the bachelors/bachelorettes just have fun coming up with answers (usually sex related but done in semi-tasteful way).

And in case you're curious, there's no sign up.  The "careful process" in the past was picking people who wanted to go up by asking "Option A or B" questions until 3 people were left.

The best part was Jeramaia's (spelling?) reaction when he won.  He took his tie, pretend to staple it to the wall and hung himself.

Don't know.
In the past the "audition" for choosers was pretty much any one who wanted to do stood up and was picked.  (Just remember there is a time limit so not everyone is picked)

Yeah, I remember they did that for the three bachlor(ette)s at sakuracon, but the person that was asking the question was auditioned the day before. :x

That sounds like lots of fun to watch. I was watching the Boston anime dating game for the yuri and yaoi rounds, and I was wondering if KC is doing that, and if so will there be an 18 and older age limit?

Here's an interesting question.

Let me begin by saying that I am MALE.  One of my costumes will be Lina Inverse from Slayers.  If I were to play as Lina, would I have to play as a male trying to win a female over, or a female trying to pick a male to have?

If I remember correctly, they pick whatever your real-life opposite gender is. So since you're male, you'd get females. But there were some special cases during the selection process where one female and two males would be left, so the person would be picking from them. It was always funny to see a Yaoi pairup. :P

Ahoy there!

I'm Chris, and you might remember me from such anime dating games as "last year". I was one of the kilted fellows on stage last year making a fool out of myself and others.

As it turns out, Sven, Lon, and Big Brian (3 of the other members of Slightly Anime) will unfortunately not be able to make it to Kumoricon this year. Thus, it now falls upon me to run the event. *commence freaking out* Fortunately, I have 3 more people to help me, and Sven will be working with me on content for the dating game before con, so it'll still be the dating game you know and love.

In fact, this year it'll be even better! We've shortened up the rounds so more people will have a chance to get onstage, and we've added some special surprises to spice things up and keep everyone on their feet!

We're really looking forward to this year, and we're hoping to make it one of the "can't miss" events of the con. So come on down and check out the dating game!

-Chris

Well, yes and no. Our group basically started with us at SakuraCon a couple years ago when we did our first cosplay skit. We basically just stood up there and made a bunch of jokes about cosplay skits, and at the end Sven did a backflip (oh and there was also Shirtless Kenshin).

Anyway, we ended up winning best of show that year, and we decided "hey, we're not too bad at this!" Through various sequences of events, we ended up hosting the Dating Game at KumoriCon, and people seemed to like us, so here we are again.

We don't really do cosplay skits anymore (unless we have a really funny idea for one), so in that respect we're not really like Bakazoku.

To summarize, we are what we are.

Here's a picture of us at last year's Dating Game:

Left to right: Sven, Chris (me), Lon, Big Brian

Edit: Also, does anyone have any other pics of us from last year's dating game? This was the only one I found of all four of us.

I always had to leave the con in the afternoon every time I've gone before, so I guess I never saw this happening?

It sounds so weird!

{ Neggie, I understand what it is, mostly, but since you like explaing it so much, you can do so again, if you wish. x333 }

In any case, this would be fun!
What kind of things happen?
People are just asked questions about their character or something?

Please enlighten~~

{ I would like to participate but the closest cosplay I have to anime is J-Rock/ Gothic Lolita/ Really really weird outfits. }

My pleasure. ^_^

The Anime Dating Game is played out somewhat like a original Dating Game with a few differences when it comes to selecting characters.  There's the "careful process" of choosing people to be the "chooser" and the 3 contestants.  They do the "chooser" first, have them step out of the room, then have the other process to select the other 3.

The process for the 3 contestants is a simple series of "yes or no" questions.
Example: "Do you like Strawberry Pocky or Chocolate Pocky?  Who likes Strawberry Pocky? *People raise hands* All of you who answered, sit down.  Next Question...." This goes on until there's only 3 or so people left (when there's a little more than 3, I think they just picked people at that point).

So in the end, the contestants know who the chooser is but he/she doesn't know who the contestants are.  And as far as I can tell, there's no rule saying certain costumes can't be in it.  According to one of my pictures from last year, we had a Master Roshi choosing from Tifa, another girl that I can't make out the costume of, and a nun.

The important thing is to just have fun with it or watching it. ^_^

Should be Sunday at 8:30, right after the cosplay.

There aren't any rules regarding costumes, we pretty much either pick people at random using the aformentioned process, or we just pick people who we think will be interesting and funny.

Even if you don't get to go onstage, it's still really fun and hilarious.

I had lots of fun at the dating game this year!  Thanks to the audience and contestants for making it so much fun.  You all win a bag of gold toe socks.

How do they choose people for the anime dating game? Is it just you show up and if they spot you and like the cosplay, they pull you on stage or something? *is going to be Queen Garnet in a white dress*
