I will volunteer for Friday.

Well, I'd really love to work the registration booth since my pal Pezcat is involved with it.

I will be able to help out as early as need on Friday and I could help with cleanup stuff but I'm a little selfish right now. I don't want to work DURING the convention if avoidable. We'll see though.

I'll be looking for people to help with the Cosplay.  I'm going to want someone to wait with the cosplayers that haven't gone on yet and makes sure the next group is ready to go and another person to escort the acts off the stage and back to the audience if their costume is purchased or to the costume judges if they are entering the best costume portion of the contest.  Since the cosplayers will be sitting in the room, this person will still be able to see the show.

Oh gosh, that cosplay job is a definite need. I remember it being hard enough organizing just my group of players last year. That'd be the perfect thing for me........if I wasn't going to be in a skit!

in a way this thread seems a tad superfluous... we have a volunteer coordinator that should be assigning people their needed help once we get closer to the con.

If you're interested in volunteering, please contact volunteer@kumoricon.org and give him your info.

Superfluous???
Dude it's a message board!
You think this is Usenet or something?
Half of the board is superfluous!
That's what keeps it fun.

Also, this gives people who don't pay attention a chance to discuss volunteering with other before doing something as scary and commitment like as sending an email with personal information to a Coordinator!
Coordinator have big scary Anima cosplayers to make you keep your promises don't they?

I know most of the board is superfluous... makes it all that much more difficult to moderate.

I'm just saying, I can't promise Prog_Imp will get wind of things this way.  I haven't seen him around on the forums much, so I'm suggesting that people email him rather than post here if they want to volunteer.

But, hell, I'm not going to stop you from discussing volunteering... that is a perfect use of this space.

I'd love to do that backstage cosplay thing.  I've already sent my official "I want to volunteer" e-mail, but I like the idea of having a discussion also.  This way everybody isn't totally in the dark until August about who is good at what, except the coordinator who knows everything.  :)

Agreed that it could be a bit superfluous, but it's good to know exactly what one is volunteering for.  I'd much rather have someone that has specifically asked to do some of the backstage cosplay stuff rather than someone that randomly volunteers and is just assigned to it.

To the people that volunteered for cosplay, please also write to the volunteer address, but let them know that you are interested in the backstage cosplay positions.  :)

I volunteered last year, doing reg (which was fun except when it got mobbed oO) and I got put on Watching The Dealer's Room Door duty for a good portion of... Sunday?

I'm not totally adverse to doing the latter again, but I'd prefer for it to be a MUCH shorter time ^^;; And/or doing something that doesn't involve Just Sitting There (cosplay, for example, sounds like fun.  And, being as most/all of what I'm cosplaying this year is original characters from webcomics and suchlike... somehow I don't think I'm going to be drafted to participate anywhere XD;;)  Yeah.  Email, email, sending the email...

Oh yeah! In a thread elsewhere I have officially signed on the be the assistant AV geek at the LASM Slumber Party! So yeah, that's something Else I will be occupied with.

Friday preparation/check in desk work with Pezcat and then Sunday night cleanup! If there's a slow day I may help keep an eye on the viewing rooms or something, gotta wait for the schedule.

Hey all!  I've been surfing through the volunteer threads trying to see how the volunteer coordinating is going.  I have heard from many people that they haven't heard replies back.  We don't want to lose you as volunteers.    Therefore, at the last general meeting I was appointed to the volunteer coordinator position.

You should see something on the site soon that says this officialy, with a note to please resend your volunteering message to the given email address. When this happens (not before please, or your email will be lost!), email me and I'll get you set up.

For right now, this is just a heads up to let you know that you all aren't forgotten.  Thanks for your enthusiasm and willingness to help.  I appreciate it!
