Katamari help
« on: December 11, 2005, 10:47:36 pm »
My sister was wondering if anyone has a basic template for the prince's outfit. She has a basic idea of the colors and where they are, but she needs a little extra help.

Also....paper mache methods. She is planning to make the katamari itself. It'll be about the size of a beachball ( a large one....hips high ).

Her email is kikyogoddess@yahoo.com . She usually is online 24/7.

for the ball last year someone made one by glueing assorted stuff to an actual beachball, that would prolly hold up better than a papermache ball
And now I'm a catgirl?

The voice of the one I love
was all I could hear as I lay broken in the darkness
My own voice faltered
My wings no longer had the strength to fly

yeah a large beach ball would hold up better, i know you can get SUPER LARGE ballons at some part outlet kinda places to do the mold for the katamari, but i would almost sugest not making a katamari at all, its big and likely to fall apart, AND its probably going to end up back in the hotel room.  It woudl be kinda cool if she instead had one of the "presents" that the prince gets to ad flair.  like the guitar or the crown or scarf or something.

well, im making the king and queen of the cosmos, so as far as the wierd head things are concerned i sugest using about inch thick foam, you can get in sheets and make a tube to then be covered in cloth. squishy suportive and reasonably light.  and asa far as the princes actualy clothes go its pritty simple, if you went to the fabric store i bet you could find a patern you could used.

Yeah patterns rock.   Several times I have “Accidentally” been stuck at Jo Ann’s fabrics for hours when a friend said she needed to stop there for a minute on the way to taco bell.  I would hide in the corner behind the pile of pattern catalogs so no one could see a man was in the store.   I have about 30 sets of costume of patterns although the only ones I have used so far are for Cloaks.   Check out all the catalogs for every company not just the one for Halloween, most of mine are Simplicity and McCall’s because they were on sale the most often either half price (for a key pattern set) or 99 cents during the midnight madness sale.  And I swear the only reason I got the Princess padmee and Arwen dress patterns was for completeness when I got the Star Wars and LOTR patterns

...well, I've made a Prince costume... so I can tell you what I did, perhaps?  For the head I used plastic corset boning (Purchased from here, if you care to know.) which I then bent into shape and taped together with just simple duct tape.  I just made several circles and then began to tape boning down to connect them all until I'd made a little cage.  I took a picture, too.  After that I wrapped quilt stuffing around the head to make it nice and squishy (Just hot glued it down.) and then put the fabric over that.

As for the clothes... we used a pattern for a maternity dress since it started smaller at the top and then got nice and large at the bottom, and we put some more boning into the bottle of it to make it stick out right.  I would suggest finding a pattern for some pajamas that have footsies for the bottom of the Prince... I tried to wing it and make my own and failed pretty well.  *chuckles*

I don't know if that's any help or not... since the thread's a little old.... but....  *shrugs*
