heeY!!!
well it came upon mind that we obviously have kumoricon for our loved otaKu anime people.
buuuT~ i DO kno someone people that like anime, but also J-rock/J-pop
like at the dance be4 th con i read some forum about the music, they say they wanna recognize japanese music and or asian music. but y not have a con!?!?!?
this idea poped in my head when i was reading the kumoricon guests thread thing, and i sujested a j-rocker.
i was ignored possibly because they either didnt kno who the hell they were
or were more into anime/manga people. and thats understandable
california had its 1st j-rock con, known as Jrock Connection 2005
just last weekend. so why cant oregon have one?
who supports!?!??!!
and lets find a way for not just anime from japan but also their music wash over us?
why not?

sounds like fun. I know i have only heard a limited amount of japanese rock/pop but am always interseted in hearing more (watashi wa gackt ga suki to hyde ga suki)

alot of people here probobly think like 'this is a anime forum go away' or something. but really.
we all got introduced to anime wether it was flipping thru channels internet or friends or sum kind of way. and u all enjoy it! thats why u r here!
so y not give j-rock/pop a chance? u may even enjoy it as much as anime!!
i foudn out im more a j-rocker than an otaku.
u may not wanna change that bu tim happy and it isnt liek aniem is out of my life right?

well... I don't actually like J-pop I only listen to it to laugh at it. It is so funny XD. And well J-rock... there are a very select vew gems but they are rare. Most of the people I hang out with feel the same to me knowledge.

I've heard random other stuff that i love but not is knowing names. As of right now no aim for jaz but i'm going to be moving to a new place and my friend sez i can use her lap top a bit so when that happens i'll have aim (yay) i is happy because i'll be able to blare my tunes again when i clean house or sew my cosplays

Kumoricon staff actually felt that JPop and JRock were under represented as well. So we have a great group of guys who are bringing this element to the convention. Japankore.net. They are planning on several things to introduce J music to anime fans, and at this point, are working with programming. They have a thread under Live Programming that tell about what they would like to do. I can't say officially if its a go yet. That's up to Brenda.

Mean and ShadorWasabi here on the threads are part of the group. They attend the meetings, if you wanted to meet them. At the very least, you share a common interest.

Did you say you suggested actually having a J-Rocker guest at the con? Did you suggest an actual performance, then?

Well, I don't know what their plans are about getting such people as guests for industry panels and such, but before anyone mentions it, I wanted to remind everybody that a live performance is extremely spendy. Sakura Con tried a live performance, and it was quite flashy and cool (I was there for it and quite enjoyed myself), but as a result, registration prices were quite high, regardless of whether you went to the concert or not.

The last time I heard the core staff of Kumori Con discussing such things, the general consensus was that they were opting for lower registration prices and a higher number of guests, rather than big flashy shows. That was awhile ago, though. Personally, I hope that feeling hasn't changed.

But yeah, I think having more things of interest to J-Pop and J-Rock fans is quite in line with fan interests. J-Pop and J-Rock both have a lot of connections with anime and fan culture.

yeah, well i was not expecting a live performance or anything big and 'flashy' haha just them there but if it coems down to it ill perform!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*laughs* i am in a band and we r j-rockish and VK but other mebers r 'bleh' but i also work as a soloist

but yeh' it would be spndy but hey!!!!!! it would get alot of people from both california and washington to come with more guests to come.
we have like 1,700 this year, and twice more would crom from just cali!
i kno plenty of j-rockers that would die for it
therefor traveling just upstate.

when i was there i spent most of my tyme at the mall, sorry and sad to say, i was queit bored.
i am easily amued but also easily bored, i cannot koutn how many tymes i walked back and fourth! seriously i had more fun at 5 in the morning sitting in the lobby half asleep

The Pillows did all of FLCL's music, I <3 them ~

J-rock would be cool. Though she's not really a j-rock band I'm super into OLIVIA right now, her music is fabulous. Nightmare and Orange Range are great too, but they're pretty popular, how much leverage does KCon have when it comes to guests? I mean, all of these people would be great, but I'm not sure KCon be big enough yet.

I'm pretty sure kumori is big enough in terms of people who attend. I think the real question is if kumori has the funds for it and can get a band to agree to come over.
