Group Meetings/Photoshoots
« on: May 27, 2004, 08:14:23 pm »
Is anyone planning any group meetings or photoshoots?  For those of you who are new to this, those are publically agreed-upon times and places for people cosplaying from the same series to get together, hang out, and snap group photos.

(They're a lot of fun, since there are few better recipes for general silliness and mayhem than putting a bunch of matching, in-character cosplayers together with cameras around...)

The List So Far

Digimon: meet @(?) ?'oclock
FFVI: meet @(?) ?'oclock
FFVII: meet @(?) ?'oclock
Inuyasha: meet @(?) ?'oclock
Love Hina: meet @(?) ?'oclock
Naruto: meet @ the park across the small, downtown street from the hotel @ 3'oclock pm on Saturday
Sailor Moon: meet @ the Chinese gardens from 2-4pm on Saturday

I know there's going to be the following groups.

Final Fantasy 6
Final Fantasy 7
Inu Yasha

Any more you guys? I'm going to be in the FF6 group and maybe Inu Yasha.

I think that the groups should take a stroll down to the Chinese Garden (or the Japanese Garden if they organize a tourbus) and take pictures there or outside. I'm definitely up for this!

Um, I don't mean to put down your idea, but the Chinese Garden (if it's the same one I'm thinking of) is about 20 blocks away.  That would be quite a stroll.

20 blocks?
I don't think it's that far but I know its a walk.
You can cut the walk down by whole lot if you take the MAX from Yamhill to Old Town.
Also, some of us have cars, and I definitely wanna take my friends down there for photos, even if it's not for the cosplay group.

Oh right, the MAX....  I keep forgetting about that.  And I just found a map of Portland and saw that people could walk on the water front to avoid most of the traffic.

Oooh, waterfront could make for some nice pictures too.

Hey, on Sunday, we could hit up Saturday Market! (despite the name, it goes all weekend) That could make for some interesting pictures...

It kind of depends on what shoes your costume has too.  I have some that I wouldn't want to wear outside (so they stay nice).  It could be something to plan for (and to have some walking shoes in a small backpack).

(Going back to the topic)  If there is an Inu Yasha photo shot I'll be happy to join if I can finish my Miroku costume in time.  And in the off chance that there's a Love Hina photo group shot I would like to join as well.
(Going a little off topic)  I just tried to imagine Inu Yasha wearing sneakers.  Somehow that doesn't seem right....

Ooh, I don't know if there's been a Miroku yet! I'll go start an Inu Yasha Cosplay thread on behalf of my friend with the Inu Yasha costume, that way you all can know who's who!

Believe me, I know. My Kefka costume has some right PAINFUL shoes, so I'd be hitting the sidewalk in my sneakers.

I have a theory that's why he's so evil. If you had to schlep across the world map in high-heeled boots, you'd want to blow up cities too.

Hear hear on the painful shoes point >.<;; I've got some boots for my Sango costume that are high heeled as well and make my feet sore enough as it is just walking around the con all day, let alone going on a walk up and down the hills in downtown Portland...

I probably won't have a problem with shoes so I'd be glad to be in an Inu Yasha photoshoot.  I think I only have to worry about is the costume dragging on the floor.

i think someone who has a professional camea should come and take a couple of group pictures of everyone that is there..like everyone at the con get together maybe spilt ppl inhalf (lol) and take pictures..y'know? so no one will feel left out. and then put it on this website.
mention this to me and watch the weather change.

I have been talking to one of the really good photographers that goes to different conventions.  He has plans for memorial day, but if they fall through and he DOES still decide to travel, he will come to our con!

If I wasn't married, I'd offer "girl services" to help persuade him, but he's married too!

Can there be a Naruto group photoshoot? o.o I've got ten people in my group cosplaying as Naruto for at least one of the days, and we all think it would just be so great to have a fun photoshoot! ^^

If I go (Its not deffinite yet) I'll bring my Gaara with me if we have a Naruto photoshoot. I'd probably also bring Selphie from FF8 and a couple others. Not sure yet. Its so close to Nan Desu, I don't know if I can make both.

So are we going to be having a Love Hina meet up then? My friends and I are being Naru, Keitaro, Kitsune, and Motoko... and I know there's going to be a Seta and a Mutsumi, I think?

Yeah, I hope we have a Love Hina meet up.  Where and when I don't know.  I'm going as Seta.  I can't remember who is going as Mutsumi, but they made a reply early in the "Who are you cosplaying as..." thread. (page 2 or 3 I think)

8O mecha tama-chan would be mecha-hard... but super cool!!!
although i already hae a costume running thats gonna burn me up, it may be the end of summer, but it will be hot anyway! i could also dress as one of the statues that keitaro finds all the time in pararakelse... that would be cool too.

OOOOHH!!!!!! does anyone know where to get (or does anyone have) a tama-chan plushie??!?!?!?!?! i'm a dude, and even I would die for one of those!! plus theres a certain anime crazed girl out there who might want one, who introduced me to the famed hot spring...

*waves shyly* How many people were interested in participating in a Sailor Moon Photoshoot at the Chinese Gardens? Yes, there is the Japanese Gardens but I was told the Chinese Gardens were closer. I guess it doesn't have to be Sailor Moon just cosplayers who want to hang out and take pics in the gardens.  :D

I'd certainly be interested... so long as non SM costumes are ok (I won't be bringing mine... I'll be taking 5 costumes as it is... and at least one is heavy enough for three normal costumes :b )

Right-o, so there's a schedule up now, and you guys need to start looking it over and hammering down times and places so I can add those, too.  ^_^

...otherwise these shoots just won't happen!  Unless you pull the same stunt we did with the Saturday shoot at AE and just run around grabbing cosplayers from your anime of choice and herding them to a scenic spot spontaneously.

For those that are interested, would Saturday at 2-4 be okay and maybe on the way back get something to eat if hungry. Or perhaps we can turn it in to a picnic? Is there any nearby parks on the way? That would make another pretty place for pics.

Is that a nailed-down time and place you've decided on for the SM shoot, or do you want me to wait for someone to second it before I post it officially?

The Naruto shoot's place and time has been decided and posted!  (See beginning of thread.)
