I hear that it won't be because another group reserved the hotel that same weekend :cry: . I've heard rumors where it'll be next year but, like I said, they're rumors.

Well, as long as it it is in a locatioin I can find I won't fuss too much.

The Doubletree booked someone else for Labor Day weekend before we got to them, and we really don't want to give up the three-day Labor Day weekend. And the bigwigs have a place in mind but don't want to reveal it until the contract is signed and everything is confirmed as settled. There should be an announcement made on the site once that happens.

I'm still working out what will and won't be allowed for props. It will also require talking to the hotel.

Really though, what's more important? Having your props, or letting the hotel employee's feel safe?

The hotel is plenty big... but we're going to have to get rather forceful to keep people from clotting in the halls. (you know, sickle-cell con-emea, or something).

For the most part, glomping (in it's purest sense) is not okay anymore. Exceptions would be, someone glomping Chris from BakaZoku.

The reason it's generally not okay anymore because of... well... someone like Chris glomping someone else. =P

So anyway... I am hoping to plow through the con policies and get them posted within the next week or two. School and work are taking up a fair amount of my time.

I think what she meant by that was the hugging "glomping" not the full on flying tackle glomping. You know, the people standing in the hall with their "hug me please" signs and what not.

That has been the case for 2 years now, and is the case at pretty much every con.

What about unsolicited acts ^_^;; ? Like if I see someone who's in a costume I absolutely adore and I ask them if it's okay to glomp them? And like Trumby said, it wouldnt be the flying tackle glomp of doom, just the hug-type ^.^;; 'Cuz that's an integral part of the con experience, in my opinion...

I'm not going to get into the ins and outs of how one MIGHT get around the rules.

Needless to say, Solicitation is not okay. Random Glomping is not okay.

Asking someone if you can "glomp" them, then giving them a hug is fine.

Asking someone if you can "glomp" them, then licking his/her face is not.

So really, it comes down to a bit of follow the rules, and do what seems rational. We're all at the con to have fun, that doesn't mean throwing all niceties out the window. =P

Please don't make me spell out the definition of Glomp in the Policies. Please.

Neko! Remember the rules of pocky club? We do not advertise that we are a glomping service because in all actuality, we're not. We are a Pocky delivery service. The glomps come from the fact that we like to cheer people up by delivering the Pocky enthusiastically, but we do have the escort of our delivery agent ask permission first. So we still fall within the rules.

I was up in Portland a few days ago with nothing to do, so we decide to stop by the new hotel to get a sneek peak. You guys, Its AWESOME!!! It's only maybe 5 stories High at most, but its huge width wise. It takes up so much surface area. Really, its nice. And easy to find. You just turn off before you go onto the bridge coming into Portland (from the way i go, from salem) Its loacted right by a Gas station, a burger king and a taco bell, so easy acess for those who have money to eat lunch. A couple blocks away theres a mall as well. You would have to take a car to get to it though its not in walking distance. And a Safeway. Its really cool, i cant wait.

Actually, it's the first Portland exit from Seattle, and the last from Salem. I-5 exit 308. But yeah, Jantzen Beach mall and a lot of fast food restaurants are nearby, as well as a Barnes & Noble (though there will be no shortage of manga on sale in the exhibitors' hall.)

Orycon was held there for many years. It's a sci-fi/sci-fantasy con I went to for many years. I also went there for the Tarton Ball just a few weeks ago. It's a great place. Thanks for choosing a hotel I am so familar with.
