Your biggest concern?
« on: October 11, 2005, 10:38:25 am »
I was curious whats everyone's biggest concern for their cosplay?

for example, I'm doing I-no. the costume should be easy enough, but I'm stressing loosing some weight, even though I'm only 120-130 pounds. I'm just stuck in the mindset ^^; otherwise, though, I'm not looking forward to her hat. gonna be a BIATCH

Loosing weight.
:/
And... I really... am afraid that people will still be like "o_o Jeebus. Your fat." or something.
But... that's more of a personal thing that deals with in and outside of cosplay... For cosplay...
Ruining my costume one way or another... That's why next year I'll be bringing a towl or something to put over me while I eat lunch.
Oh. And NEVER try to eat Shrimp with pocky sticks as chopsticks. IT DOSNT WORK. >.>

And having people hate my costume. D: That'd make me sad.

I'm concerned with the face.
I'm going to actually have to get lines on my face because it's not going to look like I have sunken cheeks unless I lose about 60 pounds. Not gonna happen.

I'm also concerned that I can't get the glasses the way I want. They'll need to be solid white so you can't see through them, but if that's the case how am I gonna see?  :?

The clothes and hair are pretty simple so I should be able to get the stuff from Goodwill if I have to. It'll be really weird for me to slik my hair in spikes. I hate having gunk in my hair!

@Tom

What you could try doing (I guess) for the glasses is buying/getting some of the clip-ons for sunglasses but find ones with a White tint on them (if they exist  :? )

uhm...well, one of my cosplays is going to be Konohamaru from Naruto.
i'm trying to find a successful way to bind my chest so it's not so obvious i'm a girl... XD;

and sometimes a concern is not being recognized. my last cosplay was mistaken for Chii a lot (which i guess is okay).

Firstly, <333 Tom der Fanboy. You could never mess up, you're so darling!

n n My big concern comes up with my Nel Zelpher costume. I can't find a single reference for what her falchion scabards look like from behind. They're crossed, and that's all I know.

That's what I was thinking. Getting big fake glasses and then using a clip to attach the solid white parts for pictures.

I could always cop-out and just shove my head into a "father hat".

Hmm, my biggest concern..for this past Kumoricon since I did only Greed, it was getting the Ouroborous at least mostly drawn well (and for doing it myself I have to say it looked pretty good).

For my next cosplays...

Gene Starwind: the caster is going to be the hardest part for me on that one.

Maes Hughes: Pretty much just his jacket is going to be hard.

Lupin: I don't really have any concerns with Lupin since I already look like him already when I have sideburns and the costume is just normal clothes. Getting the luger will probably be the hardest part.

Biggest concern for me is probably how well am I going to make the tooth that's suppose to pierce a journal.  I'm thinking about going as Tom Riddle in addition to Lupin for next year.

The journal is no problem; I plan on using one of the cheap ones you can find at Borders.
I'm still debating about whether or not to have a different cloak for Tom.  Lupin's (or at least mine) is worn down and gray with patches and I think Tom's should be black instead (patches?).  Oh yeah, and I need to find a place where I can get a green and black tie and Slytherin badge.

Getting the props to look just right, I'm a perfectionist when it comes to my props ^_^;; I always seem to start them too late and then rush to finish them at the end. Then I'm paranoid I'm going to damage it in the con because it took so much work to make... I still need to repair my Sango boomerang, it somehow got a big dent even after being made out of surfboard fiberglass  :shock:

i cant stand cosplays that you can tell that there was barly any effort put into it.  Like the wig is all wrong, the costume is poorly made, ect. If you're gonna cosplay be accurate and if you need help, go ask for it..O__O;
[even though bad cosplay IS funny]

Also people who cannot pull off ceirtain charaters because of phyical requaremts. I am not saying "fat people cant cosplay" but its not flattering for the eyes if there's a 300 lb rikku cosplayer. [i mean thats why i dont do skimpy cosplays i am slightly overweight~]

And last but not least, people who are egotistal about their cosplays. "Mrr~i r teh better Pine than you because i bought my stuff online" or whatever dumb reason...also people who actuaily dearly-to-heavens THINK they're their charater they're cosplaying. There's a difference to being in charater in costume than thinking you're the charater..

I guess concerns about my own cosplay is that i have to have everything ACCURATE. I am really dissapointed in my Akane cosplay because i couldnt wear a reitaner for my lip ring at the time or take out my piercing [because it would close up] Also the fact i wore loose socks with her school outfit when she wears simple white knee-highs. My costume was last minute [did it in a week] so i wasn't able to get simple white knee high socks. But at least it turned out cute.

I'm going as Vincent from FFVII, and I have nearly everything figured out, save for one very crucial thing: his gauntlet/golden arm. I have a couple vague ideas of how to approach it, but overall I'm clueless. One idea I had would have to consist of having a silver arm instead of gold, and I'd prefer to be as accurate as possible. Anyway......glad I have a while to work and plan.
