Cooling Tips
« on: June 25, 2013, 12:58:15 pm »
So last year my husband and I went as Belle and the Beast, completely with a (oh no, I'm gonna do it), beastly fur suit. He had to were it in fifteen minute intervals, at least removing the head, and could only wear it for about an hour at a time in the summer heat. He finally admitted that he won't do it at all this coming kumo unless he can find some way to make his old one cooler, or even make a new one that has some cooling mechanisms. I'd hate to walk around this year as Belle without my prince!

Long story short, does anyone have any good tips on how to make a fur suit with a cooling system? Anything from cleverly placed openings to how to fit an air conditioner in there is welcome. Thanks!

He could go as Prince Adam instead, if he really doesn't want to be too warm. Don't see many Prince Adams around.

A cooling vest would be the easiest, though pretty expensive. Is there room inside the head for little mini fans? That's what pretty much any Star Wars (armor wearing, anyway) costumer will suggest.

Something like this would help quite a bit http://www.amazon.com/Frogg-Toggs-647484036332-Chilly-Cooling/dp/B0089H76Y4/ref=pd_sim_hi_7

Oooh! We might get that to add to what we decided on. : ) After I talked about what Caceres said, he went into full-on creativity mode and we're actually making a fan powered water cooling system throughout the suit. XD We're still only 90% sure it'll work, but that headband would be a nice touch for his head. Thank you. ^_^
