Wolf Children Ame & Yuki - Viewing on Friday March 8th
« on: March 05, 2013, 02:31:52 pm »
Konnichiwa minna-san!
IT IS FINALLY HERE! The movie I have been anxiously been waiting for is finally here. I present for your viewing pleasure:

Ookami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki (The Wolf Children Ame & Yuki) - Hana is a 19-year-old student who falls in a "fairy-tale like" love with a "wolf man". Over the course of the 13-year story Hana gives birth to two children—older sister Yuki, and younger brother Ame, or "Snow and Rain". At first the family quietly lives in city trying to hide their wolf heritage, but then tragedy strikes. Hana makes the decision to move to a rural town, far from their previous city life.

Wolf Children was the second-highest grossing film in Japan on its debut weekend of 21–22 July 2012, beating Disney Pixar's animation film Brave, which debuted in Japan on the same weekend. It attracted an audience of 276,326 throughout the weekend, thus grossing a total of 365.14 million yen. The film subsequently surpassed Mamoru Hosoda previous work Summer Wars's Japanese gross of around 1.6 billion yen during the weekend of 12–13 August 2012.

Yep that’s right, it is by Mamoru Hosoda, the same guy who brought us Summer Wars and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, it was the second largest grossing film in Japan during its debut, and it is made by Madhouse, or to be more precise Studio Chizu, an offshoot that’s sole purpose was to create this movie. I think they did a remarkable job, on par with Studio Ghibli at their best.

Watch the Trailer and tell me if you think it is worth watching.

I’ll be showing this at my next Anime Friday. That is March 8, 2013. I’ll be starting at 7:00pm like usual, but may hold off on the movie until I feel I have a full house. I may also start the movie first, so people who take the bus can watch it all before leaving. The timing will depend on attendance. Because of this I am giving you all a full week of advance notice so you can let me know if you plan to attend or not.

I hope to see you all here a 7:00pm on Friday.

Terry
