It's that time again!
Vocaloid is becoming pretty popular, especially with all the other sorts of types out there.

This year I hope to set up an organized photoshoot, and maybe even some private shoots!
Lets hope for a fantastic 2012!

Fanart is fanart, you know? It doesn't make it less cool or fun to cosplay, but considering the SeeU program hasn't even come out it's funny to me that there's already a ton of SeeU fanart.
I'm not really one to speak considering I'm already planning to cosplay her, but I think you know what I mean :P

Right now for Vocaloid3, which SeeU is part of, they've confirmed 1 male and 1 female Spanish Vocaloids, a Chinese one (gender unknown), and some various English and Japanese ones.

They typically announce Vocaloids pretty far in advance, but I'd be unsurprised if there was a fan-made male version of SeeU once the program comes out.

I like the opportunity of having more than one photoshoot. It seems a lot of vocaloid characters this year brought alternate vocaloid costumes so having a second photoshoot could be interesting.

I think mine were $50 with shipping but i think their really worth it the fact they work to drown out the roomate laughing when she reading that hetalia comic thign cant remeber the name lol  the wings are easy to make on the headphones the parts on the side would be alittle bit harder but sticker paper would be a good thing to use to do that part on the sides on the headphones

Sorry for asking this guys, but I've been wondering for a while... Why is it so many of you do "magnet" cosplays? What makes it a magnet cosplay? Is it just having butterfly wings added to your headsets?

I'm not mocking you or anything. I'm seriously wondering since I wasn't familiar with magnet cosplays until kumoricon hit.

It really depends. A lot of people do just dress fancy and have the headphones. If you look at the actual PV with Miku and Luka, they have specific outfits. As well as some of the other official versions like with Rin and Len. And even some of the Vocaloids have different kind of wings than butterfly, like Teto and Ted.

I do have to say Magnet is one of the over done and easy cosplays done. But there are ways someone can make it special and out there. I've seen couples actually make the version of them when they have actual butterfly wings on their backs. Also, working hard on the headphones and making them really nice, maybe even light up really helps the cosplay quality. But for the most part, most cosplays for this PV isn't thought out too much.

Personally, I like doing Magnet b/c the song really speaks to me and I do really enjoy making the headphones. The only thing that irritates me is all the people doing crossover stuff with Magnet...

There are some versions of the Magnet PV (like with the fanmade vocaloids) that have switched headphone colors but the original outfits. For instance, if I wanted to "magnet" my taito cosplay, I could do so by switching my headphones with my friend who does Akaito, and the colors would match this Magnet PV:

It may seem overdone to some people, but I think one of the reasons people like cosplaying magnet vocaloids so much is because...well...the headphones just look so cool.

Yes becuse I am that sexy I am doing Akaito and taito Magnet becuse I did not spend $150 of my friends money and not GET THE HEADPHONEs I love the way they look and since mine were $30+ shipping  I had to get them They work as well who wouldnt want a pair of working headphones. They were made by my FAV seller on ebay were i get all my wigs froms and props . I do have to say .. MAGNET is not over done i hardly see anyone do the MAGNET stuff but also you have to think with the cross overs it fan made things its not really vocaloid its just the charaters performing the song . I see no issue in it.

How I somewhat imagine it as:

Len = beat box
Miku = lead vocalist (blonde guy)
Gakupo or Luka = secondary vocalist (probably Luka for harmonics sake of the trio)
Haku or Rin = tertiary harmonic vocalist
Kaito = bass

Though their voices are somewhat what I'm going off of too so it would depend on the cosplayer... and of course depend on if each person were dependable enough to actually be there.

For the karaoke, I already have 1 and 2/3 songs memorized, and am working on another. I am a mixed bag when it comes to singing, but as long it is fun and I don't hurt anybody's ears, I'm fine with singing them.

I'll probably go and sing a bunch of NataP Vocaloid songs I've collected, although now that I know I can have lyrics I'll probably not try as hard to memorize them between now and the convention .3. I have all my lyrics in a spiffy little Gakupo-themed notebook that I carry with me everywhere.

If they have to be karaoke, though, I have to knock one song off the playlist because there's no karaoke version for it D:

So I'll probably show up with Luka and do a bunch of songs. Provided you can have two people up there at once .3.

According to the long range forecast we might want to plan on cooler weather and possible rain, but really it could go either way.

Just think of it as typical Portland/Vancouver weather. Rainy one minute, sunny the next, hail the next, then fog. Insert random number generator.

Personally I hope it's warm, but not as hot as last year... mid 80's would be very nice rather than high 90's.

Alright, Kaito cosplay is finished with the exception of the little fake breast pocket, hemming the scarf so it doesn't unravel anymore, and washing the ice cream stains off (yes, serious ^^')

The sleeves look deformed and the back slit isn't there, but at this point it is the best I'm going to get and I'm a lot happier with it than the one I had last year, especially since the zipper separates so I can get in and out relatively easily!

Okay! So Sunday at 2pm.
11am for Saturday is good. I was worried that it would interfere with Opening Ceremonies, but it would end right when the photoshoot starts so thats good to hear. Does 11am sound good to everybody?

For location, im not sure. Im fairly new to the Vancouver area, so i dont know where exactly everything is.  Anyone have any ideas for that?

If one of the gazebos are available, I would say there would be nice. If not we could always meet at, say the fountain, and look around for a spot?

Yes, I agree to meet at the fountain/giant salmon area (at the corner of the park. You can't miss it) and find a gazebo from there. I didn't explore past the fountain last year so I have no idea what the gazebo looks like or where it is located.

Saturday at 11am
Sunday at 2pm

I looked at the official photoshoot schedule and apparently the Gazebo is taken on both days. So thats out of the question.
I think the fountain area is free during those times. If not, then yes, the fountain sounds like a good meeting place. Then we can look from there.

The only thing im worried about is, because our schedule is so late, people wont see it and wont come. I think its too late to put our schedule on the official page too.

I wonder what happened to the person who started the thread? Well, at least we got a time/place sort of figured out in the end. Tis better than no photoshoot at all :'3

Just came back from check in. Looked at the schedule a bit and Saturday looks a bit iffy for me. If Sat. doesnt work then i'll definitely come Sunday. Seems like most people wont be able to make it Saturday, hopefully some people will make it to that one though.
Im still a little unsure about the location but if there arent any other suggestions, then we should be able to meet there.

I've been letting all the vocaloids I came across today know about it and even some people who are just fans that would be interested in taking pictures.

I am still hoping to make it to saturday at 11 if I can wake up in time. ^^'

So you WERE the Kaito I saw! I didn't dress up, but if you saw me, I was in the Coca-Cola shirt walking out of the parking garage while you were walking around it.

I think my brother and I will be able to make at least one of the photoshoots. we don't have anything planned for them except meandering around our first con.

Unfortunately, i wasnt able to come to today's photoshoot. Got stuck at the Photobooth and it took a little longer than i expected it to.

I'll be coming tomorrow instead. I hope everyone had a good time at todays shoot! And thanks Atlas for telling people about it! That helps out a lot! : D Cant wait to see everyone tomorrow!

It turned out pretty well. Took about an hour for us to form into a cohesive group, but it was still fun for the most part.

On a personal note it sucked not having the wig cap today >.< when I got home I still could not find it either. It is probably in some stupid spot that was accessible to me the whole time but since I was pretty tired I overlooked where it was x_x

At least I won't need one for Kefka tomorrow.... or today rather.

I wasnt expecting the dancing but thought it looked fun, so i joined in Happy Synthesizer. Pretty much screwed that up since i was doing it backwards. xD

I thought that the photoshoot was really fun (I only went to the one on Day 2).  While they were dancing, I just was dancing in the audience. Haha. I was one of the three Mikus at that photoshoot.
