Ok, so I noticed speed dating isn't happening this year, which I'm sure bums some folks out, so I was thinking this crazy, crazy idea: Why not have some crazy kind of singles meetup of our own? Meet people, get to know them, chat it up and see what happens. It may be a little easier than standard speed dating, as there's no 30 second locked in time frame, and it may be easier to manage the guy/girl ratio. Of course, this is intended mainly for 18+, so there WOULD be carding happening for safety reasons, but what does everyone think?

UPDATE: Based on input, it'll happen Day 2 at 5:30 at the Hilton main lobby, from which we'd migrate. I want to try to have one Day One at either 6 or 7 as well.

Speed dating kind of freaks me out so this sounds more like something that I would like to do.

Cool! See, I wanted to set this up to make it a more friendly, approachable atmosphere, less daunting. I think we need to start planning when/where this should be. I'm pleased to see that people have some interest in this, so what do you guys think would work? I was thinking second day at least for the day it happens. Perhaps the park would be good?

Cool! So, like I said, this should probably happen second day, maybe the first. Who knows, we may do two! I'd like feedback on when and where. I know I was thinking of the park, but is there anything that sounds better for people? I'm excited to see you guys there! It looks like we have four people on board so far!

Well, if it started at 5:30 on that day, I could totally make it. And I have nothing on Saturday from 3PM to Midnight that I'm super excited about.

I think this is a good idea, and would love to attend. I think it would be a great way to not feel creepy about wanting to talk/get to know people who have the same interests. >.<
