Sewing machine woes
« on: May 16, 2011, 04:46:08 pm »
So I was asked to sew some things for my inlaws, so of course my machine starts acting up.

The top tension is really bad super duper tight, and a friend showed me how to adjust the tension, and it helped a tiny bit.

Today I took off some of the casing clean any fuzz I find and and oiled what looks like it needs oiling.
After I did this the top tension seems even tighter.

Its a shark euro pro x model 7133
Sadly to take in to get servic/repairs is 85 at Montavilla Sewing Center and I know the machine cost somthing like 150, and its gonna be a while before I can scrap that together (baby is spendy to have).

Lucky tho I am going to borrow a machine from a friend to get the projects done in the mean time.

There might be something bent or stuck in the top somewhere. Is the tension wheel internal or external? If it's internal then you may just have it adjusted  wrong, but if it's external you may have bumped it and something might have gotten bent (which would be why it's super-duper tight).

Its external, on the top of the machine.  Might just need to take off all the casing and see what there is.  After I get the projects done.  Its hard because I have been feeling pretty crappy from morning sickness and that makes me not feel like working on anything.

I don't mean to sound like a pest, but does that include my cosplay?

I was gonna e-mail you about this,  but this is my plan, when I get the stuff done for chris's cousin I will get $$ and then I can get my machine service and continue with sew as normal, and as I (assuming here) that you need it by con there is plenty of time.  I just want to be able to provide quality work.  But yeah esp since there is a costume I can use for a guide thats a big help to me, more then a patter would almost, because thats how I learned to sew
