Hi all,

I'm a doujinshi dealer hoping to register as a vendor for Kumoricon 2011. However, I'm reading the following from Kumoricon's website:

"The current plan for this year decreases the number of available booths open to exhibitors. If you are interested in having a booth at Kumoricon please make sure you provide us with information on the unique content you may provide as space and availability will be at a premium this year to provide the best experience for our exhibitors."

So I just want to know how good my chance are at getting a table this year.

Just for the record, I sell mainly doujinshi. Typically, I bring the following to other conventions that I go to (Sakura-Con, Anime North, Anime Evolution, Aki-Con):

- yaoi pairing doujinshi x 2 boxes ~ approx. 300 doujinshi
- hetero pairing doujinshi x 2 boxes ~ approx. 250 doujinshi
- gen/comedy/all character x 1 box ~ approx. 120 doujinshi
- Touhou & Vocaloid doujinshi x 1 box ~ approx. 80 doujinshi
- R-18 doujinshi (mix of yaoi, het, yuri) x 1 box ~ approx. 100 doujinshi
- miscellaneous full colour doujin artbooks

I also sell a lot of shitajiki and binsen (stationery sheet), as well as Vocaloid & Touhou doujin music and other miscellaneous toys/goods I grab from Japan.

So, my question is, are there any other dealers of this type at the exhibitor's hall? If so, how many?

In any case, any type of input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Before you read this, know that I am NOT a staff member. XD Just a yearly Kumoricon attendee. I haven't been to any other conventions, so my "knowledge" is only from my experience at the past kumoricon years.

However, I know that this past year, I only saw one vendor with somewhat of a selection of doujinshi. A few vendors have a tiny box or a few for sale, but it seems to be hard to find actual vendors with a somewhat decent selection of doujinshi. The one vendor that had a decent selection had a small table of them, and even then, there were only a couple series to choose from.

So~ for doujinshi fanatics like me, you might get some really good business. Of course, it also depends on your pricing.

Anyways, hope that someone can help more then me. XD

I think part of your strength is also that you've got a good variety of options, which seems to be something that many (not all) vendors tend to lack.  For that, I'd support your table.
My cosplay plans for 2022 (thus far): Vanir from Konosuba
My son's plans this year (thus far): Penguin Chiyo-chan from Azumanga Daioh

Last year I didn't see many doujinshi at all, and the few I could find were all R/18+ stuff. If you have a good selection of series, genres, etc. (and it sounds like you do) I know I and at least a few of my friends would definitely take a look. I think you'd stand a pretty good chance of getting a table, too, since as previously mentioned there weren't a lot of doujin being sold last year, and I don't think I saw anyone with them as their main thing.

Thanks for the input, guys. It's nice to know that there are some (not a lot but still some) interest in more doujinshi vendors. At this point, I was told that I'm being put on the waiting list. So I guess all I can do is wait. Hopefully, I'll get some response from the exhibitor's hall coordinator this year. *crosses fingers*

Just a little bit of clarification: I could be wrong, but from what I've seen on the exhibitors page and what I've been told, I believe you mean the announce list. (They're not taking applications yet, but you'll be notified as soon as they do start taking them.) AFAIK, there's no waiting list.
This is my serious voice. Otherwise, I'm just another anime fan, not a moderator.

I would like to see them. And more all-ages ones too, or at the least ones that aren't explicit porn. I can get that on the internet.

I'm very much interested in R-18 Hetalia doujins. I was a little disapointed last year that i couldn't find any in the dealer's hall.

THANK YOU GOD! Finally someone has actually answered my prayers!! Since I'm also a yearly attendee looking for some good non-hentai,non yaoi, (not that there's anything wrong with that) SLIGHTLY yuri doujinshi....I really hope that this year's doujins are better in quality. I, mean everytime I go to either Sakuracon or Kumoricon, I always get turned down for trying to get a look to at the doujinshi inside the plastic seals to see what's inside....

Anyway, I would like to know will any of these doujins contain fanpairings, obscure anime/manga series or really, really, random stuff like food, music, superheroes, character deaths, yada, yada, yada, yada,..........

Fanpairings that I hope to see are:

Pain x Konan (Naruto)
Jessie x James/Musashi x Kojiro (Pokemon)
Nico Robin x Monkey D Luffy (One Piece)
Hinata Hyuuga x Naruto Uzumaki (Naruto)
Lina x Xelloss (Slayers)

That's all for now!  ;D

I only saw one both with a small little box of doujinshis last year. I was on a mission to find them too.
I'd be very interested in those and the stuff you picked up from Japan.
I think you have a good shot at having unique sales goods.
