now, i've already got my ticket, and i heard that if you're at least 16 and you have a form from your parents signed by them stating that you're responsible for yourself, you don't have to have a gaurdian accompany you, now is that true?

More or less.  You still have to abide by all the rules in the policies (see the main page), and you still have to obey curfew laws, and still have to have the consent form turned in, but that's the short version, yeah.

wait, by consent form you mean parental consent form? doesn't that mean that I need a gaurdian, anyway?..... seeing as though that is on the form......... and what's this about turning it in....... i thought you could just bring w/ you when you're in line and turn it in then. sorry for being paranoid, but I just wanna be able to get in..... i am 16, after all.

On here is what you give the people and this was approved by EvilMonkey:
I allow (name of minor) be his/her own guardian for the time of Kumoricon.

@ maruki_chan

The workaround in the consent form is that where it says _______ is the guardian of maruki_chan, your parent can just say "maruki_chan" is the guardian of maruki_chan.  Thus are you released to be your own guardian.

Ahhh! So what needs to be done if you're 14? Can you get a parental consent form and not have a parent? Because my mom has a few medical conditions preventing her from coming o.o And my dad lives in Pensilvania O.O eep >.<

I said "mildly"... that counts... =^~.~^=

@ Kasuni

Ooh... not good.  Well, you can have the consent form for during daylight hours (14 is old enough for the sign-over to yourself), but after midnight you have to be in the care of a parent/guardian over the age of 18 or you can't be in convention space - refer to the policies on the main page for further information (note the Portland curfew laws too).  If you have other arrangements in place outside of the convention, then you're set.

So I can be without a parent at the con and go home at midnight? I live in Portland, and it's not too far away. And I can come back first thing in the morning? ^^'

@ Kasuni

I would reccommend being home by midnight, actually, due to curfew laws, but yes, that's roughly the gist of it.  Then you can indeed come back in the morning and all will be well!

Just go to the main page - http://kumoricon.org - and click "registration."  The consent form is on the page it leads you to.

Wait.... so I can't be my own guardian? I don't understand how to fill it out as if I were to be my own guardian.

Okay, you have 2 options.  The first is to use the existing consent form, filling the blanks as follows:

I Parent of Kasuni grant permission for Kasuni to act as guardian for Kasuni during the convention.  (you can scribble out the "over 18" portion, to make it all honest and such)

Alternately, you can have your parent write out a consent form which absolves Kumoricon and its constituents, and puts you into your own care (we aren't exactly fascist about it being -our- form, as long as we have one that will cover our rear in case of bad things).

In either case, if we are given that, you should be able to get in, as all the legal aspects will have been handled.

Can you turn in the parental consent form when you're getting your badge? Or is that what you're supposed to do?

maybe I shouldn't have waited until last minute to ask questions like this :/

Yes, you can turn in the form when you get your badge.  If you've pre-registered, who has and who hasn't turned in consent forms is noted, so if you have already turned it in, we have it on file.
