Hetalia Christmas bloodbath cosplay meetup~! (OVER, please bring pictures ^w^)

Hello my fellow Hetalia cosplayers! It's only a few months before the Christmas season starts and i somehow felt the need to post this now xD(fff It's not even a month away now 8D)

Anyway...

We've invaded Valentines day. We've invaded countless cosplay meetups. And we invaded Kumoricon from the inside out...So why not Christmas?

Yes! I've disided to have a Hetalia Christmas cosplay meetup because i wanted something exiteing to do for my Birthday this year ^^


Day: Sunday, December 12th
Time: 12:30pm. Gift exchange/photoshoot will go on untill about 3:00pm or so and people can stay or leave whenever they want to after that ^^
Where: Lloyd center mall, by the elevators where Santa is.

GAMES: White elephant gift exchange(because nekovamp13 was was nice enough to think of it o3oThanks~!)
Ok so, i'm going to ask everyone who is going to play to bring a small cheap handmade or storebought gift that that country would most likely give (like, Spain or Romano would give tomatos or China would give pandas. Hopefully something more creative than that though ^^; ). Then you would wrap them up, make sure no one knows who's giving it (no hints or putting a to and from tag on the front). The we would all put the presents onto a pile and take turns picking out a random gift. Once we all have a gift, feel free to trade gifts with other people if you are not fully satisfied with your gift ^^ (NOTE: You don't have to play if you don't want too. No one is makeing you. If you don't feel comfortable playing, then don't. Just know that only people bringing a present to play will only be able to play because we want to make sure we have enough presents for everyone.)

It's the white elephant and we give joke gifts ^^ But I want people to bring something as a gift that has to do with their country/character/online Hetalia jokes/jokes from the manga and anime (Lame example: Spain or Romano would give tomatos. Italy would give out pasta or a white flag. But please try and be creative as you possibly can ^^; Something that people have to guess where it came from. If that makes any sence). As for the spending limit, please make it under 5 dollars or so (even something from the dollar tree would work).

If it's not raining, i thought it would be fun to have a Hetalia christmas photoshoot outside at Hollyday park right across the street from the mall (yes, i know it's not a game, but it's something to do ^^)

Notes: I will post activities and other details once it gets closer to December or sometime in November. As for presents, PLEASE DO NOT BRING ME BIRTHDAY PRESENTS. I DO NOT WANT TO FEEL BAD FOR GETTING A BUNCH OF BIRTHDAY PRESENTS FROM PEOPLE I BARLY/DON'T KNOW. I would like to request that, if you do plan on bringing presents at all, please bring something like a bag of candy or a bunch of little handmade gifts, things that EVERYONE at the meetup can have. (this is a Christmas meetup after all)

Okay, that makes sense.  Also, France is "known" as a romantic country, (I personally say they're just extra "active") so maybe the creator say France like  that, the same way that I see the real country...

* The Joulupukki was the pre-Christain  version of Santa in Finland. The word means Christmas Goat.
The Christmas Goat would go around to house to house and throw gift in the door. Originally it would go to door to door asking for food and drink. Then when Christainaity came the Joulupukki became more of a Devil and wore an upside down overcoat and would turn your stove upside down to represent Hell. I would of course I will do the friendlier version.

If you can't find it I can easily explain it:

It's a drama club game usually, but it involves four people at a time. Two people are assigned to talk with one another as the "audience" chooses a scenario for those two to act out, like going to the movies for instance. The two people then get assigned one "Pillar" or person who they can tap to come up with a random word in a sentence. For instance, if the topic the audience chose was going to the movies, the two people do a little improv skit of the two characters they represent going to the movies and quite often they'll say things that require their "pillar" to fill in words for them like, "Sorry I was late, I just got back from the..." then they would tap the pillar and the pillar can come up with any word they want like "ballet" or whatever and then the person has to say "I just got back from the ballet." They can do this as often as they want in the game. Sorry if that sounds confusing, it's really a lot easier when you actually play it ^^;

Also, i just thought i'd mention this. I know i said to help me choose more games to do for this, but i'm afraid that we might not be able to fit more than the white elephant and the photoshoot in to less than three hours. I was at the Vocaloid meetup last weekend and only about 7-8 people were playing the white elephant and it took us about 20-30 minutes to play that. With 30+ people, i'm guessing it'll take a little more than an hour ^^; That along with the photoshoot (which normally at meetups takes about an hour to an hour and a half), along with the antics of all the crazy Otakus. We wouldn't have time to do more than that.

Another thing. If it's pouring down rain outside (and i'm talking about the actually-getting-people-soaking-wet raining), then we won't be able to do the photoshoot outside unless someone has any ideas of covered areas by Lloyd center. If we can't find anything then we'll just have to take pictures in the mall.

so we all pick a gift, and then if you want you unwrap it, then you keep it.

also "Participants draw numbers from a hat to determine their gift choice order, starting with one, up to the total number of participants." that's how the game actually does work so yea.

To the one who chose the pair of mail tubes and the gifts within, I never got a chance to mention that they were hand made by yours truly, and that you can play with a friend using one each, or use both at once against others of their kind. Also shortening the tubes a little can turn them into good sheaths for them.

@borzoi: also the problem was that you guys didn't call the mall ahead of time... that's why they probably kicked you out cuz they weren't expecting this big of a group. my dad is a teacher in the portland area, and he said if you have a group bigger than 20+ you MUST call the mall ahead of time to let them know how many ppl will be going, and they will also give you a list of rules!

We were just that loud ^^;;. The Lloyd Center hasn't really liked cosplay nor tolerated it much since Kumo 2008 at the DoubleTree.

Other than that it was fun (was the other Sealand with Denmark, Norway, Iceland, and Sweden). It's making me consider a Hetalia cosplay for con; just not sure who. Maybe Seychelles. Gives me an excuse to fix the costume and make a giant tuna.

See, i don't MIND people getting loud at cosplay meetups (in my opinion, i think it makes it more exciting). I just think people should know when and when not to get loud.
Outside/at a park/arcade/con = Good place to be as loud and annoying as you want.
Mall/resturant/practically any other store = Not a very good place to be loud and annoying.

I thought this was a great success! (despite a few of us getting a bit carried away which totally never happens and our little encounters with security >>) I still can't believe how many people there were! It was pretty overwhelming (in a good/epic way of course). And Saki, you did great for your first hosted meetup! I'm proud. ^^

I'm up for a Valentines Day meetup all the way! It was definitely a blast last time (and my very first meetup too). :'D

Though to get slightly off topic I have to ask, why is it that when I visit your country and see a nice device such as an ipad that I cannot have it immediately?
